Story
Meet Kevin, the 6-month-old Podengo puppy with a name as fitting as his epic energy! True to his sight hound roots, this boy’s got serious “hunt for fun” instincts—whether it’s a toy, a leaf, or the invisible scent of adventure. He’s very smart too, mastering routines faster than you can say, “Who’s a good boy?” (Spoiler: it’s him.) Kevinis the life of the paw-ty! He’s super friendly with people, dogs, and probably your mail carrier too. But be warned—when he needs to go outside, he will let you know… loudly. Think "future lead singer of a rock band" loud. So, he’s best suited for a stand-alone home where his vocals won’t bother the neighbors. As a classic Podengo, Hunter needs plenty of exercise and would love a securely fenced yard where he can zoom around safely. This breed is built for speed, much like a mini greyhound, which means off-leash play in open areas isn’t ideal—they can get going so fast it can be dangerous! Now, about his leash skills… Let’s just say Kevin thinks the leash is for freestyle interpretive dance. Sniffing, zig-zagging, pulling—you name it, he’s doing it. But hey, with his brains, he’ll get the hang of it in no time (especially if treats are involved). Kevin is ready for an active home where he can be your adventure buddy, cuddle champion, and occasional loudmouth. If you’re looking for a hilarious, lovable, high-energy pup who’s ready to be your new best friend, Kevin's your guy! If you are interested in finding out more about Kevin, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Hunter is being fostered in Framingham, MA. The adoption fee is $500. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.

Story
Hello! My name is Diva, I am 10 months old, and I weigh approx. 28lbs. Let me tell you a little about myself. I was flown a distance from my homeland in Portugal, to have a better chance of adoption here in the US. To be honest, the language around here is kind of weird, but I’m getting used to the weird words, like “sit”. I’m always very excited to meet anyone, I love playing wit other dogs during playtime and for sure would be great company for long walks. Like any puppy, I still need some basic manners, but aim to please! Be careful though, I’m quick and could steal that yummy treat out of your hand in a blink of an eye. I could grow up to be a wonderful family dog, that will love you forever. Please take a moment to think about adopting me! Diva would do well in a home, and possibly in an apartment setting under the right circumstances. She would have no problem adjusting to a busy and active lifestyle. * Fast Friends adopts in the New England area. Story
Hello, there, my name is Scooby. I am a shy boy, but I'm working on building my confidence. I think a home with someone who understands that I need time and patience to slowly warm up to them would be the best for me. I know I will be a great family member, I would need someone who is an experienced dog owner to help guide me through the rest of my life in my new home. I like other dogs and play well with them, especially if they don’t mind roughhousing. I am always showing off my toys in my kennel to the staff. Sometimes when they come by, I like to just hold it in my mouth to show them that I am proud of my toys! * Fast Friends adopts in the New England area. Story
Ollie is a 3 year old Portuguese Podengo. He may be a pint sized dog at roughly 30 lbs, but he has a large personality. Ollie would thrive in a moderately active home where he can get lots of walks and playtime as well as plenty of time to relax and take naps. Ollie can be a little shy around new people and environments but tends to adjust well given time. Due to Ollie's past experiences he has a very hard time trusting men and would do best in a female only home or with an expired adopter that can work with his fears help him find confidence. Ollie does ok with other dogs but can be overwhelming to some. He is very playful that loves doing zoomies with his favorite toys and splashing around in a kiddie pool. He is also one of the biggest cuddle bugs and loves getting pet and taking naps. Ollie is really the best of both worlds when it comes to his favorite activities. * Fast Friends adopts in the New England area. Story
Meet Teddy – The Tiny King of Selective Friendship! Teddy is a 4.5-year-old Chihuahua with big opinions, strong boundaries, and a heart of gold—once you earn it, of course. If you’re fluent in Chihuahua (or at least willing to learn), Teddy might just be your new tiny, devoted shadow. 🏡 Exclusive Membership Only: Teddy prefers a quiet, low-traffic household where he doesn’t have to worry about too many people invading his royal space. The fewer humans, the better—no kids, no chaos, no problem. 💖 Give Him a Minute (Or a Day): He may start off as a little socially awkward, but give him a couple of days, and he’ll be glued to your lap, swearing undying loyalty and demanding cuddles. 🚽 House Training Prodigy: This little guy is house-trained and also knows how to use pee pads like a gentleman. He’s been residing in the foster’s bathroom (his personal kingdom), and if there’s no pad, he’ll hold it. If there’s a pad, he graciously uses it—because manners matter. If you’re looking for a tiny, quirky, and devoted best friend who will worship you forever (after a short trial period, of course), Teddy is ready to grace your home with his presence! If you are interested in finding out more about Teddy, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Teddy is currently hanging out in Millbury, MA. Story
Meet Cole! Cole is the sweetest little bean. He is around 2 years old, house trained, and loves his crate. He is a happy little dude who is just as content snuggling on your lap on the couch as he is running and playing. He loves his two foster siblings (35 lbs and 60 lbs) but hasn't met many other dogs beyond that just yet. While he may be initially startled by a visitor, he does happily greet new people. He hangs out at work with his foster mom and has made fast friends with at least a dozen people. If you have a treat for him, he will instantly be your bestie. You may even get some kisses. :) He loves to run and jump. He looks like he is on springs when he gets excited! He likes rope toys but hasn't quite figured out Kongs or treat dispensing toys. He is interested in playing tug with his foster siblings even with their size difference! He travels easily in the car and has been easy to have at the office - he just curls up in his crate for a nap and is perfectly content, even when his people are in view. He also walks fine on a leash. He doesn't know any obedience cues yet, but he is food-motivated so he should be able to pick things up quickly. He was originally found as a stray in Texas and you can see some glimpses of what his life must have been like on the streets if you move suddenly towards him or wave your arms close to him, but he recovers from his nervousness quickly. For this reason though, we would recommend him for a home without young children, as their unpredictability could be frightening for him. He came to us quite malnourished and underweight but is putting on some healthy pounds. He has some minor resource guarding tendencies with food, likely due to having to find and protect his food as a stray. As he is building trust with his foster family, this is improving. If you are interested in finding out more about Cole, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Cole is being fostered in Shirley MA. The adoption fee is $450. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram!
