Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a
question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If
interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found
at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/.
Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file.
Adoptions must be within a reasonable distance from Wilmington, DE for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit.
Meet Arthur – Your New Best Buddy! Arthur is an adorable 11-year-old Chihuahua mix who weighs just 12 pounds, but his personality is anything but small! This sweet senior came to us from a shelter (likely from a hoarding situation) and has quickly become a favorite in his foster home. Arthur is now ready to find his forever family to share his golden years with.
Arthur is a low-maintenance guy who loves naps, snacks, and exploring the outdoors. While he’s mostly housebroken, he occasionally has an accident overnight but has never peed inside. He’s crate-trained and settles in nicely after an initial bark or two. Though he’s independent enough to nap nearby instead of on your lap, he absolutely loves to be close to his people.
Arthur has some vision and hearing loss, but neither impairs him much—he gets around just fine. However, stairs can be tricky for him, so he’d do best in a home with minimal stairs or someone to assist him. He’s a quiet pup who barks minimally (except when bravely protecting his home from deer, as his foster once witnessed!).
Arthur is great with kids of all ages and enjoys the company of other dogs. In fact, we think he’d thrive in a home with canine companions, as he came from a multi-dog environment and lights up when he encounters dogs on walks. Arthur is also good on a leash, making walks a delightful shared activity.
This little guy has had a rough start to life, arriving at the shelter with a rear mass (since removed), a URI, and limited appetite. Thankfully, he’s on the mend and is eating well, breathing a little louder than most but with no medical concerns identified.
Arthur would do best in a home where he isn’t left alone for long hours—he craves human and dog companionship. He’s a chill, easygoing couch potato who will fit seamlessly into almost any family ready to love and care for him.
If you’re looking for a calm and loving companion to share your home, Arthur might just be the perfect match.
Could Arthur be the missing piece in your family?
