Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Charlie, one of our newest residents at the Mikey & Me Kennels in Chelsea for Happy Days Rescue. Charlie is a mixed breed (maybe Plott Hound), he has a beautifully brindled chocolate brown/black coat, he weighs just 30-35 pounds and he’s only 5 months old. Charlie is a very sweet boy, he loves meeting new people and giving them hugs, he’s good with other dogs, and he walks nicely on leash. Charlie has his first Vet appt. scheduled for October 30th in Dexter where he will be microchipped, have a wellness exam, receive any vaccinations and boosters needed, and his neuter surgery will be scheduled for another date, most likely in November. If you would like to meet Charlie, please submit an adoption application under his name at happydaysdogandcatrescue.org     HDDCR requires a spay/neuter contract by the adopter if puppies and kittens in our care are too young for sterilization. This is a form the adopter signs at the time of adoption, confirming that they will get the pet spayed/neutered by a certain date. We will hold a $50 deposit on top of the adoption fee until we receive proof from a veterinarian that the dog was spayed/neutered. The $50 deposit will then be returned to the adopter.&#226&#128&#139 Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to    Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a    $19.99/Year registration fee or a $45.00/Lifetime registration fee    to change information.   Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost. Story
Star was rescued in Louisiana. A lady that found her called me and said that she could not find a rescue group in Louisiana to take her. She had a gunshot wound through her jaw and ear. She was in pain. She brought her to me in Mississippi, and I got her the medical treatment that she needed. She had jaw surgery, and now her tongue permanently hangs out. We think this makes her uniquely special!! I know that her tongue hanging out may be a deterrent for a permanent home, but Star is such a sweet baby. She cannot help it that somebody shot her. She is a Catahoula hound, and her tail is docked. Star is a very sweet and loves to ride in the car. She loves dogs, and she loves children. She loves to roll over for a belly rub, and she knows the sit command. She is extremely smart. She loves to load up and ride in the car, and I believe that she was somebody’s baby at one time! Star has been in foster care and boarding for a while, and she wants a forever home! Also, if you live out of state, we use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. We alternate between the Northeast and the Midwest every other weekend. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee.

Let me introduce Chance, one of the coolest dogs in our rescue! His foster mother has medical issues, and she wants him to find his furever home ASAP! This awesome guy was abandoned in the woods, alone in the middle of nowhere, when he was still a puppy – scared and left to die young. He is extremely sweet. Chance loves toys and playing fetch - playtime is high on his wish list. He is very friendly, never meets a stranger, and loves absolutely everyone he meets. He still has a puppy spirit and needs activity & exercise! He would be great for an active family that hikes or runs, as long as there are cuddles and belly rubs. His leash walking is progressing well. He gets along well with other dogs with proper introduced. He will be happiest as a loving family companion. We use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. We'll transport to a destination near you every weekend, alternating between the Northeast and the Great Lakes.
