Story
--FOSTER PUPDATE--Belch A16784253 lb. Neutered Male, approx 2 years oldBear (A167842) is a lovable, 53-lb neutered male, approximately 2 years old, and currently in a foster home. He’s full of love and ready to find his forever family! And yes, his name is Bear now—because while “Belch” might get a laugh, this sweet boy deserves a name as wonderful as he is. Here’s why Bear is a paws-down amazing companion:- Love Bug Alert! He adores being with his people and is happiest when giving and receiving love.- Dog-Friendly: Bear plays wonderfully with his foster sibling and knows when it's time to rest. (Proper introductions recommended!)- Best in a Cat-Free Home: While Bear loves people and dogs, a home without cats is ideal for this sweet pup.- Food Motivated & Smart: At a recent training class, instructors raved about how smart and eager to learn he is. Training with him is both fun and rewarding!- Adventure Buddy: Bear enjoys walks and car rides. He’s ready to explore this world with you! - Potty Trained: ALMOST! Bear knows where to go, it’s just a matter of learning his signals that he needs to go outside. - Quick Learner: Bear listens well and responds promptly when redirected.- Attention needed: While Bear is great with his foster siblings and neighbor dogs, he does show signs of reactivity while around unknown dogs and on leash. He will need a patient human to help teach him even stranger dogs can be friends. A Note About Bear's Health: Bear is heartworm positive, but don’t let that scare you! Heartworms are treatable, and Bear’s treatment is already complete! He’ll just need a retest in September to confirm the little rascals are all gone. With your care and support, Bear can go on to live a long, happy, and healthy life.Bear is a wonderful companion ready to bring joy and love to your home. This good boy is ready to be your best buddy—don’t miss out! 🐶✨This pet is in a foster home! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Charlie, one of our newest residents at the Mikey & Me Kennels in Chelsea for Happy Days Rescue. Charlie is a mixed breed (maybe Plott Hound), he has a beautifully brindled chocolate brown/black coat, he weighs just 46 pounds and he’s only 6 months old. Charlie is a very sweet boy, he loves meeting new people and giving them hugs, he’s good with other dogs, and he walks nicely on leash. Charlie has his first Vet appt. scheduled for October 30th in Dexter where he will be microchipped, have a wellness exam, receive any vaccinations and boosters needed, and his neuter surgery will be scheduled for another date, most likely in November. If you would like to meet Charlie, please submit an adoption application under his name at happydaysdogandcatrescue.org     HDDCR requires a spay/neuter contract by the adopter if puppies and kittens in our care are too young for sterilization. This is a form the adopter signs at the time of adoption, confirming that they will get the pet spayed/neutered by a certain date. We will hold a $50 deposit on top of the adoption fee until we receive proof from a veterinarian that the dog was spayed/neutered. The $50 deposit will then be returned to the adopter.&#226&#128&#139 Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to    Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a    $19.99/Year registration fee or a $45.00/Lifetime registration fee    to change information.   Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 1, 2024, 6:19 am

Story
Star was rescued in Louisiana. A lady that found her called me and said that she could not find a rescue group in Louisiana to take her. She had a gunshot wound through her jaw and ear. She was in pain. She brought her to me in Mississippi, and I got her the medical treatment that she needed. She had jaw surgery, and now her tongue permanently hangs out. We think this makes her uniquely special!! I know that her tongue hanging out may be a deterrent for a permanent home, but Star is such a sweet baby. She cannot help it that somebody shot her. She is a Catahoula hound, and her tail is docked. Star is a very sweet and loves to ride in the car. She loves dogs, and she loves children. She loves to roll over for a belly rub, and she knows the sit command. She is extremely smart. She loves to load up and ride in the car, and I believe that she was somebody’s baby at one time! Star has been in foster care and boarding for a while, and she wants a forever home! Also, if you live out of state, we use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. We alternate between the Northeast and the Midwest every other weekend. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee.

Story
Let me introduce Chance, one of the coolest dogs in our rescue! His foster mother has medical issues, and she wants him to find his furever home ASAP! This awesome guy was abandoned in the woods, alone in the middle of nowhere, when he was still a puppy – scared and left to die young. He is extremely sweet. Chance loves toys and playing fetch - playtime is high on his wish list. He is very friendly, never meets a stranger, and loves absolutely everyone he meets. He still has a puppy spirit and needs activity & exercise! He would be great for an active family that hikes or runs, as long as there are cuddles and belly rubs. His leash walking is progressing well. He gets along well with other dogs with proper introduced. He will be happiest as a loving family companion. We use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. We'll transport to a destination near you every weekend, alternating between the Northeast and the Great Lakes.

Story
Maryann showed up at a good Samaritan's house. The good Samaritan brought them to our facility, and we took them in. Well, how could we resist. They were so frightened and scared but are doing much better now. They are up to date on shots, spayed, microchipped and ready to be adopted. Who could resist those faces. They are adorable and they need a good loving home full of happiness, playfulness and lots of love. We don't know if they are siblings or not but that they came in together. The foster that has them now says they are coming out of their shell and are very playful and full of life. They love chasing each other and playing tag. They are very curious and so affectionate. They will be great for any family to have one of them for a family member. She is in TN but the cost of transport to your area is included in her fee. We use the most animal friendly transport on the road, Rescue Riders Pet Transport.
