Story
Conrad is a 10 year pekingese mix who weighs 10lbs. He has had a rough time in his senior years and found himself at the Pasadena Animal Shelter in horrible condition. He was a matted mess with infected skin, an infection in his prostate (common in senior/unaltered males), terrible dental disease, a large gall stone and cataracts causing some mild vision impairment. After extensive vetting, Conrad is now on the road to recovery and feeling so much better. He is now neutered and has had his teeth cleaned. Most of them needed to be extracted but he does just fine with eating kibble and even enjoys chewing soft bones. He has been treated for his various infections and all are resolved. He is on medication for his gall stone indefinitely, but it is shrinking and the cost of these meds in not expensive. He will need to be on Denamarin and Ursodial for life (about $60 a month). Conrad spends a lot of time napping and also enjoys basking in the sun or roaming around the yard. He sees great in the daylight, but has difficulty seeing in the dark. A secure backyard without a pool would be best for Conrad. He is crate trained and mostly house trained but will occasionally mark. This is an easy fix with a belly band and will hopefully subside now that he is neutered. Consistent and predictable outside time will also help with house training. He is a happy guy most of the time but can sometimes be a bit ornery when he is woken up suddenly. We think he is probably not used to being able to trust his environment so he sometimes feels he needs to defend himself. He will growl out of fear, but has never bitten. Conrad simply needs a quiet place to rest and be loved for his remaining years. An adult only home would be best for Conrad. Conrad is heartworm positive but the cost of treatment will be covered by the rescue. Conrad is undergoing the slow kill method and has received a ProHeart-12 injection and 30 days of doxycycline. Adoption fee is waived to the right home. ALL adoptions require a completed application, vet check, home check and final contract. The application to adopt can be found at www.camorescue.com. Adoption fees are variable. Up to date vaccines, microchip, spay/neuter are included in the fee. Once your application has been approved, we will put you in touch with a CAMO representative to set up a meet and greet. We select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dog's needs. For the safety of our small breed dogs and based on our past experiences, we will not place our dogs in homes with large breed dogs. EIN # 46-5486022

Story
Continuing with our Criminal Minds crew, Wallace Hines joined Long Way Home Adoptables from a south Texas Shelter. We are getting to know his personality. Wallace is quiet, unless he is looking for his food. When looks for his food his foster mom says that he "sounds like a little pig". Safe to say, he is a GREAT eater!🐷 Wallace LOVES butt scratches and his naps. He is just soooo sweet and such an amazing companion. Wallace is also potty trained, doesn't react to cats or other dogs, probably because he can't see or hear them very well. Once Wallace figures out where the dog bed, his water bowl, and his food bowl are, he is set! Wallace just wants to know that he will be cared for. All this sweet boy needs is a loving home!Wallace does have some health issues including a pretty nasty cough which he is currently taking meds for. He also has some wonky backlegs but gets around as long as where is walking has some traction. Wallace also came to us with dry eyes, a skin infection, and coccida. All of this is treatable, but this means that Wallace is currently on a couple more meds than just some cough medicine. Thankfully, long way home is able to provide al of this care for Wallace to get him back into tip top shape! If Wallace is pulling at your heart strings...I mean how could he not, just look at that ADORABLE face and cute tongue always hanging out... apply for Wallace today! To have your home considered for adoption, read about our adoption process or fees, and find out about interstate transport (dogs only), please visit our website.https://longwayhome.org/apply ❤ Long Way Home makes no guarantees on breed--most animals we receive from shelters are mixed breeds. As long as they need rescue, that's what is most important to us.
