Story
What do you get when you take a gorgeous purebred rat terrier, endow him with plenty of self-confidence and a friendly personality, make him adventurous and playful, give him great energy but with an 'off switch' that quickly turns him into a calm snuggle buddy, AND bestow him with great house manners? Why Boone, of course! This 24-lb. 5-year-old is all that and more. He is calm in the house, even when someone is at the door or passing by on the street, but becomes super lively when it's time for a walk, an excursion, or playing with another dog. While he gets along wonderfully with female dogs and enjoys romping, chasing, and playing with them, he is often suspicious and tense with other male dogs, so he hopes that his new home will have a sister or two but no brothers. As for people, Boone enthusiastically greets newcomers of any age and is affectionate with everyone. He is reliably house-trained and he loves spending time outdoors, racing around the yard, patrolling for critters, or just lounging on the deck, so a fenced yard is a must. Since he has a very strong prey drive and goes bonkers with excitement when he sees a squirrel, he will easily jump a standard 4-foot fence, so he needs one at least 6 feet tall. Unfortunately, Boone seems to think that cats are in the squirrel family, and he cannot be trusted around a cat. You can see lots more pictures of sweet Boone plus several videos in his on-line album at http://imageevent.com/beales/fosters/boone .Our adoption fee is $200 for adult dogs or $250 for puppies under 6 months old.
