Story
Looking for the cutest dog on the planet? Meet Scampi! She’s just a baby but has somehow found herself all alone in the world. As a result, she’s decided that the best defense is a good offense. She might bark and growl at you at first, but it’s just because she’s scared. With a little time and attention, Scampi warms up and becomes her true self: a playful puppy. This girl loves lap time and affection from her trusted people. She’s not sure yet about this leash walking thing. She’s going to need a little time to get used to that. But with patience and love, Scampi is going to be the cutest and best dog ever!

Story
Meet Rosco! He is a sweet boy but can be a bossy one, though regardless he always has a lot to say! He needs a home that is active and can provide lots of stimulation. Rosco can be protective, or even territorial in a setting that has kids, so he would do best in child-free home. He is very excitable, and every person he greets can't help but smile at his precious scruffy face and wiggly tail. Rosco loves to go for walks with his favorite humans, but enjoys playing in the yards with his doggie friends just as much. We love Rosco and we are sure you will love him too! Apply to come and meet Rosco today!

Story
Adoption Pending. Furguson is about 4 years old and 16 lbs. He is a nice little dog who loves hanging out with you. He gets along with other dogs but doesn't want to play with them. He would love to be an only dog if you do not work a full workday and would need a canine companion for him if you do. Furgus is a people dog and gets along with men and women but he lights up when he sees a man. No young children should be in the home where he lives because he has no patience with them. He is a sweet and good-natured fellow who can also be very vocal when he wants and has much to say. A perfect day for him is a stroll through the backyard, walking, riding in the car, or just sitting in his bed next to you or on the chair where you sit. He is not interested in toys at all. Furgus sleeps all night in his bed and is house-trained. He is a loving dog who needs to be in a quiet home where he can let his hair down. We do not know how he would be with cats in the home. Furgus is being fostered in San Francisco. His adoption fee is $275.00. Please contact us for more info or an application to adopt at dogzonerescue@yahoo.com Arrangements to meet our dogs occur after an application has been received.

Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, March 8th from 12-3pm or until adopted. If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.   Adoption Fee: $500 *Pie is an option for Foster-to-Adopt!* Pie is a 3 year old Norfolk Terrier x Poodle mix who is excited to serve up adorable cuteness for her forever family! Mama Pie was rescued from a hoarding situation and we quickly discovered she was very pregnant. Within a week of joining our rescue, she gave birth to four beautiful babies. Now that her babies are ready to find homes of their very own, we can’t wait to send Mama Pie off on her next adventure. This girl is so amazing and she has a fabulous permanent smile due to some missing teeth. Nothing to worry about, it just means she’s always ready for Tongue Out Tuesday! If you’re excited for pie season, come to the DPS bakery and adopt Mama Pie!      Pie is a sweet and loving gal with a gentle disposition and a heart of pure gold. She was very shut down and scared during her first few days but she slowly opened up and accepted pets. After two days, she showed us her cuddly personality and was eager to get all the love her foster people had for her. We promised that her forever home would be in for the best dog ever! Pie loves to follow her foster mom around the house, always on the hunt for cuddles and love. She is energetic but more in a people-centric way. She hasn’t quite figured out the whole “toy” thing yet. Pie’s dream is a home where somebody can give her tons of love and snuggles. She just wants to be part of the action and spend her days loving you. Pie is also super smart and food motivated, which makes her so fun to train. She’s also got such a goofy little smile with her tongue permanently hanging out of her mouth. She draws eyes and compliments wherever she goes! This sweet girl is the perfect addition to any household window sill, we promise!  Mama Pie wakes up around 7 AM and heads outside into the yard to start her day. Once she comes inside, she heads to her bowl and enjoys breakfast along with a treat. During the day, she tends to relax near her foster mom as she goes about her workday. She has access to the outdoors so she frequently goes out for some sunbathing and sniffing. She eats a snack around lunchtime and has dinner at 6 PM. She gets a short walk in the evening and then gets lots of snuggles and pets on the couch as she unwinds from her day. After one last potty trip outside, Mama Pie heads to her crate for the night.  Mama Pie gets along well with other dogs and draws confidence from well-rounded other dogs. She would be a fit for a home with current pets or as a solo dog. Pie is still learning how to “dog” but is house trained. Interested homes should be prepared to continue her training and socialization to build her confidence. Pie has been meeting more people every day and wins everyone over with her silly little smile. If you’re ready for the sweetest addition to your home, come scoop our Pie off the shelf today!      Mama Pie is an option for those with prior dog experience, even if the experience is dog sitting or family dogs. Kids should be over the age of 6.March 6, 2025, 12:59 pm

Story
Meet Benny- Your New Best Friend! Three-year-old Benny, formerly known as Bito, is a scruffy, golden-coated sweetheart looking for a fresh start. This 11-pound cutie came to us as an owner surrender from a loving family in the Bay Area who, despite facing hard times, held onto him as long as they could. When they could no longer house or feed themselves, they made the heartbreaking decision to let him go so he could have the life he deserves. Benny is friendly with dogs of all sizes and has even been okay with cats so far. He's likely a Cairn Terrier/Shih Tzu mix, making him an adorable, low-shedding companion. While he hasn't had much formal training, he's eager to learn and highly food-motivated, which will make training fun and rewarding. Despite the uncertainty in his past, Benny remains a happy, affectionate pup who loves people. He seeks out lap time, enjoys soaking up the sun, and would likely thrive on car rides and new adventures. He's ready to experience the world with a family who can give him the stability, love, and training he needs. If you're looking for a cuddly, loyal, and fun-loving companion, Benny might be your perfect match! Could he be the missing piece to your family? Story
Meet Sammy – Your Adventure-Ready Lap Dog! Sammy is a 10-pound, low-shedding mix who came to us from a local shelter in rough shape—overgrown, matted, and absolutely terrified. But underneath it all, he’s a sweet, affectionate pup just waiting for the right home to help him continue building confidence. While his exact age is a guess (the shelter estimated 5 years old, but his foster thinks he could be closer to 2), one thing is certain—Sammy has plenty of energy and would love an active home that enjoys long walks, hikes, and playtime. He’s also a total cuddle bug and makes a wonderful lap companion once he feels safe. Sammy thrives in the company of other dogs and would do best as a second or third pup in a multi-dog home where he can follow their lead. Because he takes some time to warm up, he’d be happiest in a calm, adult home without young children. He’s doing well with house training and will flourish in a home that provides a consistent routine. Sammy will also need regular grooming to keep his coat in good shape. With time, patience, and love, he’s going to make an amazing, devoted companion. If you’re ready to give Sammy the forever home he deserves, apply to meet him today! Story
Meet Fiona – The Cutest Scruffy Chiweenie Terrier! Fiona is a nine-week-old bundle of joy, full of wiggles, spunk, and endless love! This tiny scruffy Chiweenie-terrier mix had a rough start—she arrived at the local shelter sick and fragile, but thanks to the care of a dedicated foster, she pulled through. Now, she’s thriving and ready to find her forever family! At just a few pounds, Fiona is the perfect pocket-sized pup. She’s an infant with no training, so she needs a family that’s fully committed to teaching her everything from scratch—from potty training to socialization. She will do best in a home where someone works from home, has a flexible schedule, or isn’t gone for more than four consecutive hours. Fiona would absolutely thrive as a second or third dog, as she loves to follow the lead of a confident canine companion. Being separated from her litter at such a young age wasn’t ideal, so she’ll benefit from the guidance and social skills that other dogs provide. She’s low-shedding, short, long, and totally adorable! When fully grown, we estimate she’ll weigh between 8 to 12 pounds. If you’re looking for a sweet, scruffy, and social pup to add to your pack, Fiona could be the perfect match!
