Adoption Application: https://www.cognitoforms.com/New2URescues/AdoptionApplication ********If dog/pup is showing as available it is available. Please do not email asking if it is. Submit application to meet dog if interested - yes an application is required******** Meet Cosmo! This handsome brown Newfoundland started his life on a chain in a back-yard without any interaction with other dogs or people. Thankfully, he was surrendered and can finally learn how to be a dog. Cosmo is very eager to please his people, but he is still quite scared of strangers. His foster mom notes that with encouragement, strong leadership and praise he warms up quickly... and treats always help! Cosmo has already learned to walk nicely on his leash, and even responds to commands. For example, if you stop during the walk Cosmo will look to you for guidance on how to proceed. He is such a smart boy that he has also learned "sit", "down", and is working on "stay". Cosmo has been crate trained, and sleeps through the night without any accidents! What a good boy he is! His ideal forever home would be a large yard to run and play in, preferred with an older female dog who can help guide him to continuing to become a confident and wonderful dog. WITHOUT EXCEPTION, he must be in a home with a fully-fenced in yard without small animals or small children. Cosmo does not yet realize his size, so an owner with knowledge of large-breed dogs, patience, and lots of love to give will be best for him. Cosmo was recently neutered, and is microchipped and fully updated on his vaccines. If you think you're a match for this beautiful boy- don't wait! Apply today! If you would like to meet this amazing dog, an application must be filled out: https://www.cognitoforms.com/New2URescues/AdoptionApplication We are in Rochester, NY, we adopt to people who live in the Rochester area. We do not ship our dogs and require home visits. Must live in area to adopt, will not respond to out of area/country requests. Additionally we require physically fenced yard for dog/pup to play in safely. Exceptions are sometimes made to this requirement but is up to the foster and more often done for the small breed dogs. All our dogs have been treated with de-wormer; heartworm tested (if age appropriate -7 months or older); treated for fleas/ticks; microchipped; and examined by veterinarian plus given age appropriate vaccinations. We take every effort to ensure the health of the animal and you will receive a copy of all vet work performed at time of adoption. Dogs will be spayed/neutered thru us prior to finalizing any adoption. We provide information on dogs age and breed based on what we are told by person surrendering dog or vet's best guess. While we try our best we cannot guarantee that this information is 100% accurate and can often be best guess in case of our lovable mutts. You can learn more about our rescue and process at www.new2urescue.org or find us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/New2Urescue. You must be 25 yrs of age or older to adopt through us. We are in the Rochester NY area and adopt dogs out to area residents. We are registered in NY State with the Dept of Agriculture RR #033 and a registered 501c3 Non-Profit.

Story
Maggie thinks her nick name of Maggie Beana Beana Beans is just fun and it makes her wiggle.  She was born about June 10, 2015 and weighs about 100 lbs.  She has never been off leash as she lived on a very busy road.  Maggie has SEVERE skin allergies and has for some time - she has suffered long.  Her owner couldn't afford allergy testing and so the vet she saw simply put her on steroids.  Then the owner became ill and realized she could no longer physically care for her and felt the best thing for Maggie was to give her up so she could get the care she needed.  Sadly, when she contacted the large humane society in her area she was told she'd be euthanized.  Although Joyful Rescues isn't the one with deep pockets.....we do have a deep commitment to help a domestic companion if we possibly are able and we are often able due to the unwavering kindness and generosity of so many of our supporters and followers. We sent Maggie to the dermatologist and tried various she was prescribed various drugs.  Maggie will never regrow her hair because of damage to the hair follicles.  The good news is most of her irritation and odor has been resolved.  Maggie will live out the rest of her years here at Joyful as a sanctuary dog where she loves to meander through the 8 fenced acres at a snail's pace, go for a wade in the pond, then nap in the sunroom or on warm days lounge on the deck soaking in the sun.   The Adoption Fee for this dog is $_n/a Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a "complete" pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.    Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES   We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption.   Can't Adopt Me?  SPONSOR ME Look for the Link "Special Instructions to Seller" if you want to note a particular pet Before you seek to adopt a pet from Joyful Rescues, please read our Pet Adoption page http://www.joyfulrescues.org/pet_adoption.html.
