She is a social butterfly, friendly, energetic, and loves meeting new people yet well-behaved and quiet at home. Anita enjoys long walks, exploring different surfaces, and traveling by car. She sits calmly, gazing out the window. Anita affectionate and attentive but also independent, getting your attention gently with her paws. She is fully house trained, needs daily exercise, and loves a good chewy bone before settling in for naps. Sadly, I am homeless and need to find her a loving, committed home. Athena (now 7) - I rescued from age 2. She came from a very loving home. Raised on a farm. She has been with me ever since. She was very well cared for when I got her. Her previous owner was in the middle of a divorce/older woman - and she lost everything as a result and had no place to relocate Athena and herself together. Athena is about 40lbs. She is Black/White in color and a bit of a mix. She is lab, whippet and pit. Her demeanor is very affectionate and loves people. She is a lap dog for sure and loves attention, not shy about it. She is very well trained and listens. She is great with people of all ages. Kids, teenagers and adults - she adores. She is great with other dogs and socialized in that respect. She loves being outside and a large fenced in yard would work well for her.

She is happy to sleep on her own bed or in her crate. However, if you give her the okay, she will gladly jump on the couch and be your weighted blanket. She is a big puppy who plays throughout the day. She likes puzzle toys, playing tug of war, and throwing stuffed animals in the air. Nova is joy to be around. I feel lucky to have her as my foster dog. She truly brings me joy every single day.

So much to see and do—I can walk up and down Columbus Avenue for hours (in my carrier)! My human says I'm practically a New York native at this point. If you ever lose sight of me, I probably jumped into my carrier because I love adventures that much! Speaking of smart, my humans were amazed when I figured out pee pad training in just one day. What can I say? I like to be efficient with my learning so we can get to the fun stuff faster! I'm the perfect mix of playful and gentle. I'll romp around with you when it's playtime, but I also know when to dial it down and show my patient side. While I'm not the biggest fan of being picked up and cuddled (a distinguished gentleman has his boundaries), I stay remarkably calm when it happens as long as I feel secure and safe. My two favorite activities? Giving kisses (I'm very generous with them!) and playing with your hair. There's something about those strands that just fascinates me—consider me your personal stylist! One of my best qualities is how quickly I can switch from playful mode to calm mode. One minute I'm bouncing around with excitement, and the next I'm peacefully lounging like the sophisticated city dog I am. I have watched and supported my foster human through 2 interviews and midterm week, and she says she couldn't have done it without me. I only bark occasionally if I need to be let out to pee, or if I get a little afraid at night, but leave me with any of my favorite toys (any cute animal toy that is flat enough for me to hold with my paws) and I am all set. If you're looking for a brilliant companion who is fast and curious, but just loves hanging by your side and sleeping while you work—all wrapped up in a New York-loving package—I might just be your perfect match!
