“My name is Leonard Skynard (Lenny), and I am guaranteed to rock your world, In a good way, of course. I am an 8-month-old mix of pure perfection; that’s what my foster mom says. I weigh about 65 pounds and am growing by the minute. I’m a good, very good boy. I am playful, but I also love to take a good nap. I am young, so I am used to hearing, ‘No, Lenny,' ‘Drop it, Lenny,’ ‘Give me that, Lenny,’ but I’m learning. I live with three other dogs, including one of my siblings whose mom adopted, and I love them, playing with them, and taking naps with them. I also lived with three other furry things that meow. I do like to chase them, but I mean no harm. I am crate-trained, and I go right in without a peep. I am doing great with my housebreaking. I am a fun guy. I would make a great family member to any family.” - Lenny Leonard Skynard was rescued in Texas along with his Mom and siblings. A good samaritan found them and reached out to us for help. The whole family was living outside in the heat and was severely dehydrated and malnourished. Poor Momma pup was trying her best, but they were just skin and bones. Lenny and his siblings each weighed just 2 - 4 pounds (at 10 weeks old), and Mom was just around 20 pounds when our Texas foster was able to pick them up. Lenny got sick and lost even more weight, but he wasn’t going to give up, and as you can see from the pictures above, he has fully recovered and is a happy, healthy pup these days. He is enjoying every opportunity to be pet and loved. He loves to follow his foster mom around and sleep on her lap. He is currently being fostered in NJ. She loves being out in the world, so much so that she will bark into the air to say "hello world!" as she is walking down the sidewalk. She loves meeting everyone, including people, kids, dogs, cats, and will even walk up to pigeons to find out what they are doing. She has a hop in her step when we are heading out for walks, but will slow down tremendously when it looks like we are headed in the direction of home, and will sometimes stall by making friends with people at outdoor cafés. She is a whole different dog from when we first took her in, and is so very happy all the time. She takes daily medicine for her Cushing's and Addison's, and monthly arthritis medication, so she is thriving. It is a delicate balance between the 2 main conditions, but she takes it all in stride. Mama is still not very interested in wrestling with her foster sister, but she is a pro at unstuffing a stuffy. She might be deaf, or very, very hard of hearing, but that makes life in a chaotic city pretty easy. She knows basic commands given to her visually, is always looking at you to follow your cues, and always waits patiently for food and treats, even if others are getting them first. While she is super excited for mealtimes, she will sit and wait until given the ok to dig in. She prefers to be surrounded by people and other pets even if she's just laying down while chaos ensues.

It is impossible to know her and not to fall deeply in love with her. She knows many commands, such as sit, stay, paw, turn, and come. She has an amazing vocabulary too. Her favorite word is "treat." Her LEAST favorite word is "goodbye." Nova adores people. If she thinks someone is going to leave her, she will run to the door and try to block their egress. However, she is more than capable of entertaining herself. She is happy to sleep on her own bed or in her crate. However, if you give her a sign. she will gladly jump on the couch and be your weighted blanket. She is a big puppy who plays throughout the day. She likes puzzle toys, playing tug of war, and throwing stuff animals in the air. Nova is joy to be around. I feel lucky to have her as my foster dog over the holiday season. She truly brings joy ever day.

He's a low-key guy who loves gentle strolls around the block and cuddling up next to you. He also enjoys a gentle game of tug-of-war with a stuffed toy after coming in from a walk, and playing with his Kong toy before dozing off for one of his beloved naps. He can be stoic at first, but is quick to fall in love with humans and is very affectionate. He follows us around the house whenever we get up and he sleeps on our feet all day while we work. He loves to greet people at the door with kisses. While he's very trusting of humans, he's very weary of other dogs. He really loves head and butt scratches, and he gives amazing "hugs" (leans into you asking for more pets).

Polly can be shy at first, but with attention and frequent belly rubs, she will warm extremely quickly. She enjoys her comfort stuffies, and lounging in her favorite spots. She can sleep a lot, but no matter what she’s doing, usually always wants to be near you. Polly is well-trained, understanding the basic commands, and well domesticated for the home. On your first walks, she may be timid, but once she opens up, she will have a little more pep to her step, and will be curious of the surroundings. She will bounce and bark for cats, squirrels, and some smaller dogs (excitedly and playfully), but she is quick to stop when encouraged to. Overall, you could not ask for a more calm, sweet, and cuddly pet to add to your home.
