Story
Meet Pongo, an 8-month-old Mountain Cur mix with a sweet, quirky personality that will steal your heart! This handsome pup may be a little shy when meeting new people, but he warms up quickly, and once he does, he’s all about snuggles. Pongo has a special trick up his sleeve: when he wants to “hide,” he burrows under the covers and adorably puts his paw over his eyes—convinced you can’t see him if he does that! He’s crate trained, walks like a pro on a leash, and loves playing with dogs of all sizes. Pongo is incredibly smart and eager to learn. If you’re looking for a loving and playful buddy with a dash of goofiness, Pongo could be your perfect match! ** Theo: Your Next Adventure Buddy!** Say hello to Theo, an adorable 4-month-old mixed breed (born June 1st), destined to be a large-sized companion. Theo is a charming little guy who wins hearts with his respectful nature when meeting new dogs and people. But don't be fooled—he quickly shows off his lively personality! Theo is playful, active, and always ready to learn something new. He's mastering "the art of doing nothing" and picks up quickly. He likes outings with his people no matter if it's hiking, brewery visits, or just hanging out with friends. Eager to please, Theo would love a home that’s ready to explore the world with him and continue guiding him through training and new experiences. Theo is responding very well to clearly communicated rules and structure but does like to occasionally push his boundaries as most teenage boys would. This little adventurer has already tagged along with our trainer to the beach and discovered his love for water! Theo is a confident swimmer and stays responsive even in exciting situations. Yet, despite his love for exploring, Theo is also a champion cuddler. Whether it’s in his crate, by your side, or on his favorite dog bed, he’s always up for a cozy evening watching movies or keeping you company while you work from home. Story
To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application   HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see   HERE   Age: 4 months (as of 12/8/24) Weight: 23 lbs (as of 12/9/24) Location: RI This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Looking for a gold medal pup that will make your heart do backflips? Look no further than Simone Gymnastics! She is a 3-month-old Mountain Cur mix that will win you over with her cuteness. As you would expect with any puppy, she is playful, affectionate, outgoing, gentle, and quiet. She fills her days with many hobbies, including playing with toys, but she also enjoys a healthy dose of lap time and snuggling throughout the day.    She is currently living with a loving foster and is best friends with their family dog and visiting grandchildren.  She is doing well with potty training - she knows to go when you let her out and if she is let out regularly, she has very few accidents. At night she sleeps on her dog bed in her foster parent room and will stay there through the night without any accidents. She does not like being in the crate but we are working on making it a safe and positive space.  We strongly recommend that all of our puppies attend obedience training to learn commands, develop confidence, and socialize with other dogs. Think Simone would make the perfect addition to your family? Fill out an application to let her know!  An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see   HERE   for more information about this. Medical Note: A littermate of this dog is being treated/has been treated for demodectic mange, a non-contagious skin condition. As there is thought to potentially be a genetic component to predisposition to this condition, this dog has been preventatively treated though does not currently show any bald patches and/or thin fur in places.  Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (e.g., transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc.). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months after adoption for adults or until 18 months of age for puppies.  Please see here for more information on demodectic mange and talk with your Adoption Counselor about this condition.  Please check with your vet if you have any questions or concerns about this medical history. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website:   Adoption Application - SOS Animal Rescue League in Rhode Island (sosarl.org)   **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.  December 16, 2024, 9:20 pm

COURTESY LISTINGThis dog is a courtesy listing (not in the AARF program) but we will be reviewing applications and helping the owner find the right home for ROO. Please visit http://aarf-tn.com/adopt/adoption-app/ to apply. Introducing Roo: Your Energetic and Affectionate Companion! Roo is a 2 1/2-year-old Mountain Cur weighing approximately 50lbs. This handsome pup is bursting with energy, always ready for an adventure. However, when he's seeking affection, he knows how to switch into a calm and loving mode. One of the most endearing qualities about Roo is his love for affection and his favorite pastime—running and doing zoomies in the yard! You'll find yourself charmed by his playful antics and infectious joy. Watching him fetch and play with toys is an absolute delight. Roo is a well-trained dog who knows commands such as sit, wait, place, and kennel. He recently completed a 30-day in-board training, demonstrating his eagerness to learn and please his human companions. If needed, his caregivers are more than willing to cover the cost of additional training to ensure a smooth transition into your home. When it comes to manners, Roo is house-trained and has excellent crate behavior. He understands the cue to kennel up and is comfortable spending time in his crate. You won't have to worry about any accidents or destructive behavior. Roo enjoys playing fetch, spending time with his favorite toys, and socializing with other dogs. His friendly nature makes him an ideal playmate for canine pals of all sizes. Although he hasn't been around cats, livestock, or many children, he may be tempted to give chase to small creatures out of playfulness. From a medical standpoint, Roo is in excellent health, with no known concerns. Roo has shown compatibility with dogs and adults; however, he may need some time to warm up to new people. Slow introductions and a gentle approach are key to helping him feel comfortable. He walks well on a leash and rides calmly in the car, making him a great companion for outings and adventures. This sweet and intelligent boy thrives in an understanding and loving home. He's eager to continue learning, and his caregivers believe he would benefit from activities like swimming, as he showed great interest and enthusiasm during his encounters with the pool. If you're seeking a loyal and fun-loving companion who will keep you active and entertained, Roo is the perfect match. Adopting Roo means gaining a friend for life who will shower you with love, energy, and affection. Ask us about Roo today!    Interested in adopting? Take the first step and complete an adoption application on our website: http://aarf-tn.com/adopt/adoption-apps/ If you have questions that are not covered in the profile, visit the Pet Inquiry Form: http://aarf-tn.com/contact/pet-inquiry-form/. Typical transport cost to the Northeast is $180. Due to interstate adoption regulations, we are not able to adopt to RI and MA state residents. A.A.R.F. (All About Rescue and Fixin' Inc.) http://aarf-tn.com/ is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) no kill animal rescue organization located in the Upper Cumberland area of Tennessee. A.A.R.F. is comprised of unpaid volunteers and survives only on public donations. Thank you for thinking adoption first! Prior to adoption, all canines and felines are spayed or neutered, have received their age appropriate vaccinations, have been de-wormed for common parasites, and have received treatment for prevention of fleas and ticks. All canines over the age of 6 months have been tested for heartworm. All canines are put on heartworm prevention as soon as possible - this means dogs as soon as they are tested negative. Puppies are put on prevention immediately. All felines, regardless of age, have been tested for Feline Leukemia/FIV. Each animal receives a health check by a licensed veterinarian prior to adoption. Ollie is estimated to be about 10 months old (9-24). We sure think he looks like a Mountain Cur. This breed is considered rare but are quite common in South. His foster reports that is much calmer and gentler than expected. He is great puppy manners! The Mountain Curs are well-loved family dogs who thrive in the right environment, getting along great with kids and other dogs. Their high energy levels make them best suited for an active family where ample exercise and mental stimulation will be provided. Mountain Curs are known for their intelligence, tenacity, and high energy levels. Thanks to their history of working side-by-side with pioneers, they have a strong work ethic and thrive when given a job to do.Their short, dense coat requires minimal grooming, making them a relatively low-maintenance breed. However, their high energy levels mean they need regular exercise and mental stimulation to keep them happy and healthy. Mountain Cur dogs do best in a home with an active, outdoorsy family who spends their weekends hiking, hunting, or just hanging out in their fenced-in yard. This dog is sheltered in a foster based, nonprofit rescue.   adoption donation : $650 weight 40 lbs  Age: 9 months as of 12/20       Nacho is an absolute love bug, he doesn’t have an aggressive bone in his body, he is all tail wags, and kisses and wiggles!    Nacho was found abandoned with his sister in a rural part of Mississippi when he was a young puppy, he was taken into the rescue quickly settled in, he love to run and play with the other dogs and snuggle up with his sister and a puppy pile to nap. A few months ago nacho was sent to the northeast and adopted by a single man who adores Nacho but whose work schedule has changed and now he is gone for long hours and feels Nacho is alone too much.     Ideally, we would a home for Nacho with another dog to play with, he absolutely adores every dog he’s ever met and would make a fabulous companion. If not, nacho would really love an owner who was around a lot, who would take him on walks and hikes or just spending time together, Nacho  just loves to be with his person.      Nacho is just a silly, funny, goofy and loving boy. He could use a little training, he does get excited and still jumps up a bit, but he is a smart boy and extremely food motivated, he would be easy to train. Nacho is the ultimate family dog, he would absolutely love to be in a home with children he can give sloppy kisses to.     Wags is a struggling 501(c) 3 where one woman in rural Mississippi takes care of about 150 homeless and stray dogs.  Adoption donations are the only source of funding for the rescue. Adoption fee includes the transport from Mississippi, vaccines, microchip and spay and neuter at one of the clinics we use.
