You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi there! My name is Bruno Mars, much more handsome than my namesake, if I do say so myself. My one blue eye  gives me a unique look. I'm a pretty active guy and would love to have a fenced yard or a very active family who will take me on adventures. I'd make an excelllent hiking buddy. I seem to get along with most dogs, and would love a meet and greet with any dogs in your home. About cats- thats an entirely different story- they are made for one thing...chasing!! So no cats for me! Older children and teens would be best for me. I have been neuterd, completely vaccinated, combo tested (I did test positive for Lyme Disease and have had my 30-day doxycycline treatment),  and my preventives are up to date. If I sound like your kind of guy, please visit olivebranchwv.org to fill out the adoption applicaiton.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 1:53 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Meatloaf: A True Gentleman with a Heart of Gold Introducing Meatloaf, a handsome 7-year-old Mountain Cur and Labrador Retriever mix with a striking brindle and white coat. Weighing 62 pounds, Meatloaf is a picture of both elegance and charm, and his affectionate nature makes him truly irresistible. While he may initially be cautious in new settings or with unfamiliar faces, it doesn’t take long for Meatloaf’s warm and loving personality to shine through. He’s a polite and slightly active companion who adores hugs and kisses, eagerly showing his gentle side to those he trusts. Meatloaf is a social gem with people of all ages—he gets along wonderfully with both children and adults. Though his compatibility with cats is unknown, he walks calmly through the shelter's cat area without issues. Meatloaf does prefer his personal space around other dogs and is happiest as the only pet in his home. While he sometimes feels uncomfortable around dogs in public settings, his confidence grows when he senses strong leadership from his human, allowing him to relax and enjoy the outing. A home with a high, secure fence would be ideal for this clever "Houdini," as his Mountain Cur instincts make him a bit of an escape artist. Meatloaf isn’t fond of confinement and thrives with room to roam and explore safely. Life in the shelter has been hard on Meatloaf, and he’s recently shown signs of withdrawal and sadness, losing interest in playtime and interaction. However, when he hops into a car, his true nature comes alive—he’s a calm and content passenger, happily gazing out the window as he rides. Smart, eager to please, and well-mannered, Meatloaf knows several commands and walks beautifully on a loose leash when away from the shelter. He’s ready to bring his intelligence, loyalty, and boundless love to a family that will cherish him as much as he deserves. Please note that Meatloaf has tested positive for Lyme disease, though he has shown no symptoms and has been vaccinated. Meatloaf is ready to leave his shelter days behind and start a new chapter with a loving family. If you’re looking for a devoted, affectionate companion who’s full of heart, Meatloaf is waiting to meet you. Could you be the one to give him the forever home he’s been dreaming of? Magnolia is a sweet three-year-old mtn cur, boxer mix. She was surrendered after her owner went to jail and her and her sister were left in an outside kennel with no food, old dirty water, and hardly any shelter. She is not so sure about cats. Likes some dogs so therefore a meet and greet is required upon approval after submitting an application. Mag gives such good hugs and kisses. We would love to see her get into a loving home where she can get all the cuddles she wants. Her adoption fee is sponsored.

These sweet doggies were surrendered on 6/21/2024. They had too many dogs and were having problems with the neighbors. They agreed to surrender the dogs. We believe Rex is a handsome Shepherd/Cur. He is around 2 years old. He is a pretty friendly dog and does well with other dogs. Would be best in a home with no cats. Adoption fee is $150

Story
Lila is a sweet 2-year old female Plott Hound/American Pit Bull Terrier mix arrived at the HSOV on November 13, 2023 after she was picked up on Germantown Road (at the 8-mile marker) in the Lower Salem Ohio area by a Washington County Ohio Deputy Sheriff. Lila was wearing a collar but, unfortunately, there was either an id tag nor a dog tag on her collar .. And she was not microchipped. Lila has a shiny dark brown/brindle-and-white coat, white toes on her front paws, a long tail, and a lovely symmetrically-marked face with dark brown eyes, a dark chocolate nose, and large semi-erect ears. This little lovebug has a super-friendly outgoing personality and is a pushover for attention. Lila was full of playful energy when HSOV Kennel Tech Madison Lee accompanied her for outdoor photos late in the afternoon on November 13th. Lila weighs 52 lbs and is fairly strong/energetic on a leash. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Lila will be held for three days so that her family will have an opportunity to reclaim her with proof of ownership. Surely someone is missing this sweet girl. NOTE: We've learned that Lila does not do well with cats and cannot be trusted to be nice to them.

Story
Lacy is a beautiful 4-year old female Plott Hound who was brought to the HSOV on December 6, 2023 by the Washington County Ohio Dog Warden who picked her up on Highland Ridge Road near Marietta Ohio. Lacy was later surrendered by her family. Lacy has a brown/brindle short smooth coat, a long tail, and a lovely face with soft brown eyes, a dark chocolate note, and large floppy ears. Thanks to HSOV Lead HSOV Canine Kennel Tech Jared Nash for treating Lacy some extra TLC while she had her glamour photos taken on December 8th. Lacy enjoyed a short break from being in her kennel, and Jared joined Lacy for a brief walk as they teamed up to jog back inside the shelter. We've learned that Lacy is dog selective and does not do well with small dogs/animals. She has been kept indoors and is housetrained. Lacy weighs 54 lbs and walks fairly well on a leash, and she has already been spayed.

Story
Ruger is a handsome 7-month old male (possible) Plott Hound mix who was surrendered by his family to a Washington County Ohio Deputy Sheriff on September 24, 2024. Ruger has a dark brown/brindle short smooth coat with a large white bib on his chest, white paws, a long tail, and an adorable face with black shading, expressive brown eyes, a black button nose, and large floppy ears. This young man has a sweet, outgoing personality and was quite playful when HSOV Kennel Tech Emily Beaver accompanied him for his outdoor photo session on October 13, 2024. Ruger seemed a little too interested in giving chase to our HSOV outdoor shelter mascot kitties, so we aren't sure that he could be trusted to be nice to cats. Ruger weighs 51 lbs and walks fairly well on a leash, Ruger had an unfortunate bite incident when he bit a young child in his home and was placed on the mandatory 10-day bite quarantine in our shelter as a result. His family did not believe that Ruger was to blame but we have taken the precaution of advising that he should not be placed in a home with small/young children. Ruger will be neutered before being adopted by his new family (a requirement for HSOV adoptions to be finalized). He could be fostered with an approved HSOV foster/adoption application.
