Story
Meet Jaeger, a Mountain Cur mix who is eagerly searching for a loving forever home. Jaeger's life began as an outside dog, surrendered to us due to no fault of his own. His previous family had to move and felt that he wouldn't be happy in their new home. Jaeger has been waiting for a long time in search of his forever family, as he originally came to our shelter in summer of 2020. It does take a little work to win him over, but once you do, he will certainly be your buddy for life! Once he establishes a connection with his human, he will go above and beyond to show his unwavering devotion. In his time with us, Jaeger has graduated the Puppies for Parole program through our partnering correctional center. From his handler we learned Jaeger is very intelligent, easily trained, and highly food motivated. Through his opportunity with P4P, he has been house trained, crate trained, taught basic obedience, and started on home manners! We also learned from his handler that when it comes to favorite pastimes, cuddle sessions take the top spot for Jaeger. He has certainly come a long way from being someone's forgotten farm dog! Here at the shelter, Jaeger goes out in a playgroup with other dogs, but it should be noted that he is the dominant one. By providing him with a loving home, you will witness the transformation of a wary dog into a devoted and affectionate family member. Story
Say hello to Jorah! We guess him to be a Mountain Cur or Plott Hound mix. He is another one of our Forget-Me-Nots. He was abandoned on farmland with his sister, so when the farmer was able to catch them both, they were brought to us. Both were in pretty rough shape, but with proper care their coats filled in nicely. It takes a bit of time for Jorah to trust strangers, but once he picks a person, he bonds hard to that person. He can tolerate the company of other dogs. He was adopted once and returned when he couldn't handle being alone for extended periods of time. He really is a sweet guy and loves attention and affection. He just needs the opportunity to bond. Also, Jorah is very trainable and knows some commands. Jorah needs to be the ONLY ANIMAL IN THE HOME. He is best suited for a single person, living alone. If you think you can manage a dog that bonds very strongly to the only person in the home, Jorah might just be the dog for you. Story
Cinna- If you're wanting a loyal companion that is active and a cuddle-bug, look no further. Cinna is a 4 year old Mountain Cur, spayed, and fully vaccinated. She is crate trained, knows basic commands, and would be happy to join in your next hike or run beside the UTV. Cinna does well with dogs of any size, but cats are not her friends. She is ready for an active partner or family to share in all of her shenanigans and provide her with belly rubs at the end of the day.

Story
Meet Ruffus – A Busy Boy with a Big Personality! Ruffus is a 2-year-old pointer mix who has been with us since April of last year, and as he approaches his one-year anniversary at the shelter, he’s hoping to find his forever home. Originally found as a stray, not much is known about Ruffus’s past, but we do know that he’s a little guy with a huge personality. He’s got a lot of energy and a curiosity that’s boundless. There’s always something for Ruffus to do—whether it’s investigating new smells, checking out every corner of the shelter, or meeting new people. He’s constantly on the move and always up for an adventure! Though Ruffus can be selective about his dog friends, he has been with other dogs in the past and with the right introduction and a dog that respects his space, we believe he could do just fine in a home with other dogs. He may need time to adjust, but with a little patience and understanding, he’ll be a loyal companion to his doggie friends as well as his human ones. Ruffus thrives in an environment where he has lots to explore, so an active household that can keep up with his curiosity and energy would be ideal. He’s always looking for new things to see and experience, and he’ll bring that same excitement to your life. If you're looking for a dog with a big heart, lots of energy, and a personality that will keep you entertained, Ruffus could be the perfect match for you. After nearly a year of waiting, Ruffus is ready to find a family that will give him the love and attention he deserves. If you’re ready for a dog that’s full of life and adventure, then what are you waiting for? Ruffus has things to do, places to be, and people to see. All he needs now, is you.
