Story
Meet Tobey, a delightful 1-year-old Morkie who is eagerly searching for his forever home! 🐾❤️This spunky and affectionate pup has a personality that is sure to steal the hearts of any family lucky enough to welcome him into their lives. ‼️ It's important to note that Tobey experiences extreme car sickness, so he is only available for adoption within Virginia (DMV) or the immediate surrounding areas. This means he would not be able to be transported long distances, so prospective adopters must be local to his current location. Tobey is an absolute joy to be around, with a gentle and loving temperament that makes him wonderful with children, other dogs, cats, and adult humans alike. He loves nothing more than cuddling up next to his favorite people and showering them with affection. Whether it's snuggling on the couch, going for long walks around the neighborhood, or playing a spirited game of fetch in the backyard, Tobey's playful and energetic nature always keeps his family entertained and delighted. However, Tobey does have a couple of quirks that potential adopters should be aware of. First, he struggles with moderate separation anxiety. This means he does best in a home where someone is present more often than not, as prolonged alone time can cause him to become anxious and distressed. Having another friendly, social dog in the household would be extremely beneficial for Tobey, as he thrives on companionship and interactive play. With the right support system and training, Tobey can learn to feel secure and content even when his loved ones are away for short periods. Additionally, Tobey is still working on perfecting his potty training skills. While he is making good progress, he may have occasional accidents in the home. Dedicated training and patience will be key to helping Tobey fully master this important skill. Due to his sensitive nature, Tobey requires a relatively calm and quiet living environment. Large amounts of chaos, noise, and overstimulation can be quite overwhelming for him, causing him to become anxious and bark excessively. The ideal home for Tobey would be one with a relaxed, low-key atmosphere where he can feel safe and secure. A household with older, more mellow children or adults would be perfect, as Tobey tends to get anxious around young, boisterous kids. Despite his minor challenges, Tobey is an absolute treasure who will bring endless love, laughter, and companionship to the right family. He is loyal, affectionate, and endlessly entertaining - the perfect furry friend. If you believe you can provide Tobey with the gentle, attentive care he needs to truly thrive, please reach out about adopting this wonderful Morkie. He is sure to make someone an incredible addition to their family. RPACI is a non profit rescue, and currently possess our 501C3 to operate as such. Story
Meet Charlie. The sweet senior was surrendered with his brother, Clyde, to our rescue by the only family they’ve ever known. While these two boys technically had a home, they were kept in the basement and did not have the care or engagement they deserved. Both dogs came into the rescue in dire need of dental work, both living with pain and infection. Clyde also had a heart murmur that needed evaluation. Both pups have since been fully vetted, had dental work, and been groomed. They live in a wonderful foster home, getting lots of love and attention and flourishing. They are both exceptionally sweet, easygoing seniors who do well with cats, dogs, and all people. NOTE: Charlie and Clyde are not bonded, but they are friends. They can be adopted as a pair or separately, so we are featuring each pup individually. Charlie’s little side grin will melt your heart immediately. He is an easygoing boy who is very connected to his people. He may be a senior, but he still has a bounce in his step when it’s food time or heading out for a walk. Every once in a while, he will get the zoomies and run up and down the hall as quickly as he can. He loves being part of a family and will greet you with joy and enthusiasm when you come home. He just wants to belong and have his people to love. Charlie is a low to moderate-energy dog and champion cuddler. He follows his foster mom from room to room and immediately jumps in her lap when she sits down. He enjoys the company of other dogs, so we think another laidback pup in his home would be ideal. He’s not one to engage in play and is not very focused on toys, but he’s a respectful pup with a live-and-let-live attitude and makes a great pup companion. He also enjoys his walks and has good leash skills. In his prior home, Charlie’s family kept their dogs in belly bands 24 x 7 and did not give them regular potty breaks, so Charlie had to re-learn the basics. His foster mom, Jen, has done a great job with him,  ensuring he has a consistent routine and regular potty breaks, and used a puppy pen to contain him when she couldn’t watch him. He’s responded well and hasn’t had any accidents in weeks. He will even  perk up from a deep sleep if you say the word “outside.” Charlie no longer wears a belly band, and she no longer uses the pen. At night, she leaves him loose, and he is fine sleeping in bed or on his bed next to you. Over the Thanksgiving holiday, Charlie did well meeting the extended family. He might give a quick bark when company arrives to alert you, but as soon as everyone settles in, he’s exploring new laps to snuggle up to. Charlie is a sweet and calm pup who deserves to live out his golden years in a loving home. He has good house manners, doesn’t chew on things, makes a good pup companion, and loves to cuddle.  Apply today! Meet Clyde. The sweet senior was surrendered with his brother, Charlie, to our rescue by the only family they’ve ever known. While these two boys technically had a home, they were kept in the basement and did not have the care or engagement they deserved. Both dogs came into the rescue in dire need of dental work, both living with pain and infection. Clyde also had a heart murmur that needed medication. Both pups have been fully vetted, had dental work, and been groomed, and they’re getting lots of love and attention and flourishing in wonderful foster homes. These pups are exceptionally sweet, easygoing seniors who do well with cats, dogs, and all people. NOTE: Charlie and Clyde are not bonded, but they are friends. Since they can be adopted as a pair or separately, we are featuring each pup individually. Clyde is a charming 11-year-old Maltese who will melt your heart with his soft cuddles and soulful eyes. He is a very gentle, affectionate, and laid-back boy who loves to be near his people and enjoys cuddling with his dog buddies. His foster home is an active household with a mom, dad, teen son, and two larger dogs, and he does well with everyone. Clyde would thrive in a quiet, loving home with someone who understands the joy and fulfillment of caring for and loving a senior dog. Whether you’re retired, work from home, or just want a sweet companion to keep you company, Clyde is ready to bring his gentle presence into your life. He enjoys short, leisurely strolls or just hanging out at home — he’s very adaptable and the perfect buddy for someone who enjoys a slower pace of life. He would do best in a home with a laidback pup companion and really appreciates the companionship of a dog buddy. As a senior, Clyde has some health issues to manage. He has a grade 4 to 5 heart murmur, which requires daily medications. We had an echocardiogram done to assess his condition, and he was cleared for dental surgery. He’s doing well on the medication and already had his dental cleaning and extractions. He’s feeling so much better now; his mouth infections are gone, and he has a new pep in his step. Clyde’s care will include bi-yearly bloodwork (which all seniors should have) and regular echocardiograms to monitor his heart condition every 6 to 12 months. Because of his past home conditions, Clyde currently wears a belly band during the day to protect him from marking or pee accidents. He knows to potty outside and will always poop outside. We suspect he has a mix of learned behavior from his prior home, older age, and some of the medications he is on make him more prone to potty. He has already learned to hold it overnight and enjoys snuggling up with this foster family in bed, so we’ve seen improvement. His foster mom has also noted that he tends to have more accidents when change or activity happens…so we think he could continue to improve in a calm environment. Despite his medical needs, Clyde’s foster mom, Jenn, describes him as a lovable, low-maintenance companion who is happiest snuggled up beside you or snoozing in a cozy bed. Clyde is a calm little guy who doesn’t ask for much — just a quiet, loving home where he can enjoy his golden years. Clyde may have a few extra needs, but the love he has to give is immeasurable. If you have room in your heart and home for this sweet senior, consider Clyde and apply today. NOTE: Clyde is in Charlotte, NC but can be brought to DC metro upon request!   BREED ESTIMATE: Maltese GENDER: Male APPROXIMATE WEIGHT:  10.5 lbs  APPROXIMATE AGE: ~ 11 years old COAT TYPE:  Medium-long fluffy coat ADOPTION FEE: $400 OTHER INFO: utd on shots/neutered/microchipped/recent dental LOCATION: Charlotte, NC   FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application.
