Story
My name is MURPHY (SRC#3020) and I am about two (2) years old.  I weigh 14.5 pounds according to my last vet record.  I am a salt and pepper Male Mini Schnauzer with Natural Ears and a Natural Tail.    I am micro-chipped, have all my vaccinations, am heart-worm negative, been neutered and was adopted by my current family who are located in the Mooresville area.  I have been with them for about a year and as time went by I have become more hyper and did not seem to fit well into my adoptive family.  At first I was calm and easy to manage yet for some reason, I just do not seem happy with this family.  They love me enough to want me to be happy so they have decided that they should allow me to go to another family that will make me more settled.  I have had training from a trainer and learned sit and stay plus I am crate trained.  I get along very well with the other dog in my family yet I have never been exposed to cats so that is unknown.   MURPHY's  Story MURPHY with this unique identification number: (SRC#3020) came into his family's  care over a year ago.  Now he is being  prepared for adoption by them since he is not fitting well in their family environment now.  Initially he was calm and easily managed yet now he is hyper and seems unhappy so he needs a family environment where he will be relaxed and happy. We as his family have contacted SRC for help in finding MURPHY a family where he will fit in better.  As his initial family we just want him  to have that loving home he deserves. SRC has agreed to help with his adoption.   When ready for adoption this dog will be heart-worm  tested (negative), de-wormed, vaccinations brought up to date,  spayed/neutered if not done already, micro-chipped, examined fully by a vet and any necessary medical issues found by this vet will have  been addressed. It is anticipated that this dog will be released for adoption by the same date as the completion of the Evaluation. The date of release of this dog is at the discretion of the SRC Core Team.    MURPHYCURRENTLY LIVES IN THE MOORESVILLE AREA AND YOU SHOULD BE WILLING TO DRIVE TO THAT LOCATION IN ORDER TO PICK HIM UP THERE WHEN HE IS ADOPTED. Tax-deductible donation requested at time of adoption for this dog is $450 PLEASE READ PRIOR TO APPLYING When ready for adoption, this canine will have been evaluated for at least two weeks by loving  parents who will be able to give the potential adoptive parents  their opinion about the demeanor of the family companion  prior to the adoptive parents   finalizing   their adoption of this canine.    SRC strives to do this for the well-being of their rescued canine and to assure a successful adoption. It is SRC's worthy mission to assure that each canine posted by them is placed in a loving, stable and permanent home whose family members will treat it as a beloved member of their immediate family. We are prepared to assure that all of  our rescued dogs are in great homes or we will reclaim them if necessary. SRC’s rescued dogs are  placed in foster homes throughout NC, SC, TN, and VA until they are adopted. These same states are SRC's approved adoption areas so please do not apply unless you live in one of these states. You must be willing to drive to the dog's foster home in order to adopt the canine. The location of each dog is listed at the bottom of its bio. BEFORE meeting an SRC dog, you must be approved to adopt by our Placement Team. Our downloadable Adoption Application is on the Homepage of our Website where you may also find our Foster Application and Volunteer Application should you want to use these instead.  Here is the address of our Homepage for you:    @    https://schnauzerrescueofthecarolinas.org/      Once you have completed the application, please include your vet medical records along with photos of your home (interior and exterior including your yard) -- these may be used in lieu of a home visit due to the problems with issues with the pandemic.  These changes have been initiated for the protection of our applicants and for our volunteers while we are dealing with Covid-19.  Once the virus has subsided to the point that people are not dying with this horrific virus, SRC will go back to our standard protocol with home visits being conducted. These will not be done until contagion is not an issue. The revised documentation may be submitted via email and/or fax (1-910-401-1317). You may request an Adoption Application to email address:  adoptions@schnauzerrescueofthecarolinas.org Upon receipt of your application, your medical records, and photos of your home (interior and exterior), the entire file will be processed and reviewed by the Core Team which may take up to seven days, depending on your location and the number of applications being processed at that time. Satisfactory files will also be reviewed by foster parent.  Someone from the Core Team along with the Foster Parent will be in touch with you to ask any questions that might be outstanding and to answer any questions you may have.  At that point an adoption may be discussed and arranged. Please plan on welcoming your new dog into your home within two weeks after approval. We cannot hold dogs because this limits our intake of others in need; SRC adopts them out on a first-come, first-serve basis based on a completed approved adoption process. If you are unable to accept your adopted dog within this time frame then SRC will go to the next approval and place with someone able to give the rescue a home within the proper time frame. SRC does not ordinarily adopt its dogs to families with children under ten years of age. Exceptions are sometimes made on a case by case basis but only when the dog has been raised with children and the children are very respectful of animals.  This is for the protection of the dogs and for the protection of the children. Procedures will be explained to you at the time of approval regarding the necessary donation and the adoption contract. Your donation is made in honor of the adoption of your new family companion and is never a purchase of an animal.  This tax deductible donation goes forward to help incoming rescued dogs. Our average total expense per dog includes but is not limited to the list of  expenses shown below. Here is a break-down of the average expenses spent on SRC dogs to assure they remain healthy and happy as they are prepared for adoption: Office Visit $45-75; Fecal $14-45; Rabies $14-45; DHPP $14-45; Bordatella $14-45; Heart-worm, Lyme, Ehrliccia Testing $30-55; Heart-worm Preventative $70 per month; Spay or Neuter $300-$700; Total Basic Vetting $478- $765; ADDITIONAL VETTING: Teeth Cleaning/Dental $300 - $1550; Blood Panel $120 -$185; Cherry Eye $300-$700; Urinary Tract Infection $90-$450; Heart-worm Treatment $300-$1200; Luxating Patellas $1,800 per leg; Cruciate Surgery $1,200 per leg; Entropian Surgery $250-$500; Demodectic Mange $200 per month; X-Ray $80 - $120; Ultrasound: $550; Cataract Surgery $1800 - $3500; Boarding $450 per month per dog  SRC  wants to thank you for your interest in our rescued dogs. We put our heart and souls into saving their lives.  Often the medical expense, time and effort expended to help these dogs, far outweighs the minimal donation requested to adopt these innocent ones.  Please understand SRC is limited in the number of dogs in our safe haven and if you are not selected to adopt one of them, it is not a reflection on your ability to provide a good home for a canine, simply our lack of ability to provide for the overwhelming demand from applicants.  SRC urges you to pursue rescue -- it is definitely a worthy mission even if you do not adopt from SRC.  October 28, 2024, 2:28 pm

Story
P My name is PATIO (SRC#3122)  and it is unknown how old I am yet the shelter's vet said that I could be 5 to 6 years old still my energy level is high.  I weigh approximately 14    pounds.  I am a  Mini Schnauzer with Natural Ears and a Docked Tail.  My color is salt and pepper.  I am micro-chipped, have all my vaccinations, am heart-worm negative, been  neutered and have been evaluated for more than 4 weeks by my foster family who are located in Greensboro, NC.  This is what my foster mom has to say about me so far:   This boy is full of energy.  He’s sweet and bonds very quickly if you take time to walk him and love on him.  You can tell him to get in his crate and he will on his own.  We have had no accidents in the house after the first day and I think that was just because of my other dogs. Patio loves to walk, play and cuddle with you.  He has a few problems that you have to be aware of, he wants to mouth your hands. I’ve been working with him by telling him no and giving him a toy to chew.  He is food and toy aggressive with the other dogs. I think he’s very smart and could be trained easily. Also he has a problem going down steps and I’ve been working with him on that also. He love to ride in the car. I think he needs a person that wants a family companion who will be allowed to go everywhere with them, is active and will take him on long walks or hiking everyday. He should be the only dog in the home unless it’s another Schnauzer (preferably a female).  He deserve his own person and he will be their best friend.     PATIO's  Story  PATIO with this unique identification number: (SRC#3122) came into SRC care recently from a local shelter.  Their Animal Control Officer found him wandering all alone in the parking lot of an apartment building and  no one claimed him.  Most likely someone moved and left this sweet little boy to fend for himself.  SRC was honored to assure that he was vetted and he is being  prepared for adoption by a foster family who have gone thru our approval process.   We at SRC just want Patio to have a truly adoptive loving home he richly deserves.  FENCED YARD IS PREFERRED.   When ready for adoption this dog will be heart-worm  tested (negative), de-wormed, vaccinations brought up to date,  neutered if not done already, micro-chipped, examined fully by a vet and any necessary medical issues found by this vet will have  been addressed. It is anticipated that this dog will be released for adoption by the same date as the completion of the Evaluation. The date of release of this dog is at the discretion of the SRC Core Team.    THIS DOG IS BEING FOSTERED IN GREENSBORO, NC  AND HIS ADOPTIVE FAMILY SHOULD BE WILLING TO DRIVE TO THAT LOCATION IN ORDER TO PICK THE DOG UP THERE WHEN HE IS ADOPTED.  NO SMALL CHILDREN ALLOWED IN HIS ADOPTIVE FAMILY SINCE HE IS SOMEWHAT FOOD/AND TOY AGGRESSIVE WITH OTHER DOGS. Tax-deductible donation requested at time of adoption for this dog is $400.00 PLEASE READ PRIOR TO APPLYING When ready for adoption, this canine will have been evaluated for at least two weeks by loving SRC foster parents who will be able to give the adoptive parents  their opinion about the demeanor of the family companion  prior to the adoptive parents   finalizing   their adoption of this canine.  All our SRC volunteers strive to do this for the well-being of their rescued canine and to assure a successful adoption. Story
OWNER PLACEMENT ASSISTED BY SCHNAUZER RESCUE OF THE CAROLINAS   BRUTUS (SRC#3106) is the largest of the group in the Mini Schnauzers being placed from the Clayton area. He just weighed in at 27.6 pounds and he is solid as a rock! His sister, Molly (SRC#3107) and he are very bonded.  She is much smaller than Brutus at approximately 15 pounds.  Their human Mom was diagnosed with lung cancer so neutering and spaying the Minis was something that this family had at the time was forgotten.  As a surprise, Snookie then had a litter of 5 puppies, with Brutus being the largest of all and Molly one of the smallest.  All of these Schnauzers are very sweet and love to be cuddly so they gave Susan, their human Mom, great pleasure. Due to her condition, none of them were placed until after she went to be with her Lord.  Her burial was on September 1, 2024 and at that time their human Dad felt it was time for them to be placed in loving homes where they would get individual attention.   Their human Dad loves them with all his heart and is determined that they have the best possible future, something he will not always be able to provide.  SRC is committed to helping him assure that happens. Brutus and Molly are such adorable pups, very loving and have been raised in remarkable fashion. Neither Brutus  or Molly have EVER been crated.  They receive bottled water to drink, and in addition to kibble and canned dogfood, their dinner meal consists of a lean meat cooked with veggies (no corn). A fenced yard is a must for Brutus and Molly. These Minis are exceptionally loving yet they have never been exposed to children, so it is best if they are  placed in a home that does not have younger children. They are very bonded and do not require another dog to keep them company as long as they are together. Both these canines thrive on having ample human companionship.  A fenced yard will help when training him to walk on a leash -- plus always use a halter.  Brutus is now 27.6 pounds and he loves to eat! He is not fat -- just a larger Mini. Molly is a smaller mini and has walked on a leash yet it has been a while so she will need practice also and a halter will be helpful. Like all the others in this family, both Brutus and Molly are remarkable Mini Schnauzers and very intelligent! They will be an excellent addition to any loving adoptive family. Both Minis enjoy being a lap-baby and a good belly rub is never turned down.  In order to adopt these Minis, you must have experience with their breed.  Both dogs were just groomed and the groomer cut off what was either a mole or a cyst on the left side of  Brutus' s face which bled and left a scab.  His human Dad took him to the vet to have it checked -- the vet felt it was no problem and would heal well.  No antibiotics were prescribed.  They have always received excellent care from their human family and their new adoptive family will be getting a wonderful pair of Minis!  It would be most appreciated if updates could be provided so that their loving Dad could know how they are doing on occasion. Once you have been approved for adoption, you will be put in touch with their current owner who will answer any questions you may have and you may arrange a meet and greet to see if this adoption will be workable.  These dogs have been through trauma this past year losing their human mom and they are very attached to their human dad so it will take patience for them to adjust to another home so this is something that must be prepared for.  Any adoption may take up to 2 weeks prior to deciding if it will be something that will work out for dogs and adopters.  They will need a quiet adjustment period and may need to be retrained as to where they are to go out for potty breaks.  A fenced yard will be required. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN CLAYTON, NC THE DONATION BEING REQUESTED IN HONOR OF THE ADOPTON IS: $500 each. Please submit a completed adoption application and with that application, submit vet records for any pets you have had within the last 5 years along with photos of your residence including the yard (including the fencing).  The owner of this Schnauzer will review all approved applications and documentation that SRC sends to them.  They will contact you to ask questions and to answer any questions you may have.  At that point if a meet and greet has been scheduled, an adoption contract will be sent to you which you must sign and return to SRC.  If the meet and greet goes well, your donation of $400. (tax deductible)  may be made online so that the release of the Schnauzer may happen.  SRC will notify the owner of this Schnauzer when the donation is completed so that they may release the Schnauzer to their new adoptive home.  SRC will register his/her micro-chip in the new adoptive parents’ name(s)  January 24, 2025, 11:57 am
