Story
COOPER 2.0 I'm Cooper, a 2 year old Shih Tzu Poodle blend with energy, goofiness, and lots of sweetness! I will do well with walks and snuggles with my people. Because of this I would do best in a home with older children as I jump on my people with excitement. My foster is working on this behavior, I do obey the command "OFF!", but sometimes I can't contain my excitement. I also am very vocal about letting my people know when someone or something is going by. I will need a calm home with people who can give me consistent rules to obey. I am happiest when I'm snuggled up with my people while they watch their TV shows at night, and love to cuddle up with them on their bed. I am very obedient, know Sit, Stay, & Off. I'm housetrained when I'm on a schedule.  Don't be confused by my photos, one is before I was groomed, and the other is after. I like either haircut - I'm adorable either way! I would do well in a home with either no other dogs (so I don't have to share my people) or one other dog. No cats - I tend to chase them.  My adoption fee, including MN state taxes, is $429.10. I'm available to adopt within a 50 mile radius of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis/Saint Paul. For more information about me, please submit an adoption application and my foster mom will be in touch. Please click  here  to fill out an online application. Hi! My name is Chaparro and I am from Minnesota. From his foster: Chappy is an adorable 10 year that loves to be cuddled. He also like to have space to relax and take a nap. He is house trained so no kennel is necessary but he has been kenneled in the past. He cries for a few minutes when I leave but then settles down. He loves to tell me when something is going on outside. He does well on the lease and likes exploring the backyard. Chappy would do well in a female only home. Perhaps with some training he will get over his fear of men. He gets along with other dogs and older children. Chappy is just a lovable little guy that needs a home where he feels loved and safe.

Story
Hi! My name is Cookie and I am from Minnesota. From her foster: Cookie a yorkipoo breeder release. She has diabetes and is blind, but still manages to be sweet and silly. She loves being with her humans and snuggles. She has strong opinions about being separated and will use her voice to let you know exactly how she feels. She is also pretty quick to settle down. She does seem to go potty and poop on a schedule but is also still prone to have accidents in the house. She doesn't have accidents in her kennel, on the furniture,or while being held. She does enjoy small walks and does okay on a leash. Because Cookie is blind I do feel that she would benefit from another small to medium sized dog in the house. She would need someone willing to keep a good schedule for her Insulin and to follow through with veterinarian appointments. From the Vet: I am Cookie and I have been cleared for adoption! After TBB helping to address my medical issues I will share where I am at with all of them. My diabetes is currently managed on 1.5 units of insulin twice daily and a special veterinary diet. My next recheck glucose curve (typically a day that I stay at the vet for monitoring throughout the day) will be due approximately 2-5 months from September 2024. I was seen for a mammary mass removal surgery recently and the good news is that the biopsy showed that the tumors were benign with good margins. This means that the removal procedure is likely to be curative for these masses and we do not expect me to need any future care for this issue. It is always good to routinely monitor for any masses and have them evaluated in the future should any present. Now that my mass removal is done and my diabetes is stable, I can be scheduled for my dental procedure. This procedure + 1 round of medications and a recheck appointment can be included in my adoption contract. If adopted prior to the dental, I can still go to my new home and settle in, but the adopter will be responsible for transport to this appointment.

I was skeptical of her and foster dad for the first few weeks at their house. I had just come from living my life in a small dark cage, so this big bright world with no apparent ceilings was quite a shock to me. But after a few weeks, I figured out that foster mom always cuddles with and loves on me, while foster dad comes home around dinner time with all kinds of tasty treats; like chicken, burger, sausage and/or bacon. He is quite the meat dispensing machine! I live with their four resident small dogs but I like Arthur, their little old Maltese, the most. He is very quiet and shy, like me, so I try to play with him, which he wants nothing of. I sleep in my kennel, where it's nice and quiet and I feel safe. I use the potty pad right outside my kennel. I've been spending my afternoons outside with my roommates and learning all about this strange new world. I run lots and lots of circles around the yard to dispense with my nervous energy. It keeps me in peak physical condition! :-) Adoption Fee: $625  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.INTERESTED IN MEETING ME? Within a few days she was laying on the floor letting me cut her hair. She is a quick learner and likes to please her people. She’s a gentle quiet young lady who loves to be loved and loves to give lots of snuggles. She will crawl under the blankets and sleep there all night. Ksenya is learning how to play with her other four-legged friends and is starting to enjoy toys. She enjoys all kinds of treats including chunky peanut butter. She can be skittish with new people, loud noises and quick movements, but is fine after she gets use to them. She loves car rides but will get sick, it is best to have her in a kennel when traveling. Ksenya is one of the sweetest little dogs once she warms up to you, which won't take her very long. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.      Hello, wonderful souls! I'm Peter, your soon-to-be charming companion! I'm a very handsome Miniature Poodle, and I'm discovering the joys of comfort and love in my foster home. Each day brings me more confidence, and I'm eager to share my overflowing love with a special someone—maybe that's you! I am a bit timid, sudden movements, commotion, and loud noises still make me a bit uneasy. However, I'm getting better at facing these fears every day. When foster mom is still, I'm all about those loving pets and cuddles. But if she's on the move, I keep my distance—I even bolt if she walks toward me. I know commands like "outside" and "stop," and leash and potty training are still on my to-learn list. I'm 95% potty trained, especially with a consistent routine. A fenced yard is a must for my adventurous spirit. I'd love to have a canine companion to show me the ropes, help me 'dog' properly, and boost my confidence. We're working on some manners, and my foster pals are excellent teachers. Walking on a leash needs some practice, and a confident pal by my side would be perfect. Despite being easily startled and a bit hand-shy, I've found joy in playing with toys, furry friends, and even those mysterious creatures called cats. I'm all about giving kisses, nibbling fingers, and enjoying ear scratches. Zoomies are my specialty, especially in the fenced yard or on the stairs. I've got some manners to polish up, like waiting for my turn and distinguishing between toys and household items – hee hee! I really am a sweet boy who is simply looking for the patience, unconditional love, and security that I SO richly deserve from my own fur-ever family! I really hope that YOU will be my new family because my heart is overflowing with love that I want to share with someone very special! Love, Peter *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared.  Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption.  This will be at the adopters expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses .   Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue.   Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in th eir forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a    particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.     ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
