I'm a very handsome Miniature Poodle, and I'm discovering the joys of comfort and love in my foster home. Each day brings me more confidence, and I'm eager to share my overflowing love with a special someone—maybe that's you! I am a bit timid, sudden movements, commotion, and loud noises still make me a bit uneasy. However, I'm getting better at facing these fears every day. When foster mom is still, I'm all about those loving pets and cuddles. But if she's on the move, I keep my distance—I even bolt if she walks toward me. I know commands like "outside" and "stop," and leash and potty training are still on my to-learn list. I'm 95% potty trained, especially with a consistent routine. A fenced yard is a must for my adventurous spirit. I'd love to have a canine companion to show me the ropes, help me 'dog' properly, and boost my confidence. We're working on some manners, and my foster pals are excellent teachers. Walking on a leash needs some practice, and a confident pal by my side would be perfect. Despite being easily startled and a bit hand-shy, I've found joy in playing with toys, furry friends, and even those mysterious creatures called cats. I'm all about giving kisses, nibbling fingers, and enjoying ear scratches. Zoomies are my specialty, especially in the fenced yard or on the stairs. I've got some manners to polish up, like waiting for my turn and distinguishing between toys and household items – hee hee! I really am a sweet boy who is simply looking for the patience, unconditional love, and security that I SO richly deserve from my own fur-ever family! I'm Heston, a 2-year-old male Poodle weighing in at 10 pounds. At first, I might seem a bit shy around new people and situations, but once I get comfortable, I'm a playful and cuddly little guy. I'm really smart and curious, always eager to learn and explore. I’ve been learning about trust and now I’m more apt to stay put than run, when approached.  Once I’m picked up I just melt right in for love.  That’ll likely be my personality all the time once I know you’re my people.  I’ve just started sleeping on my foster’s leg and inching my way up to hopefully a lap soon. I do have a fear of thunderstorms, so during those loud, stormy nights, I might need some extra comfort. I haven't been around young kids yet, but I think I'd do great with respectful children who understand how to be gentle and kind to me. Potty training is a work in progress for me. I’m trying hard to follow along and go potty outside but as close as I am to getting the hang of it, I might need a little transition time to learn it at my forever home too. I'm not the biggest fan of leashes and new things can make me nervous, so a fenced yard is a must for me. I've been on occasional walks, though, and I do know the command for “stay” which is what I’m told when they want to wrangle me in the harness.  I get along well with other dogs of all sizes, and while I don't need another dog in the house, having a furry friend to play with would be fantastic. I'm usually pretty quiet, except when the other pups start barking or when it's time for breakfast and dinner – then I might join in the chorus. One of my best qualities? I'm a world-class cuddler. I love nothing more than spending all day being held or sitting on a lap, soaking up all the love and affection. When foster mom says “Hey Buddy” I will come right away because she might have some good treats! Yummy! I am initially shy with strangers, but learning to be brave and with a little time we can be friends. I like to play in the big fenced yard and chase around with the other little dogs. I especially like to catch the leader and you can’t catch me – hee hee! I am getting used to coming back in the house when the other dogs go in- but I am still unsure of the sliding door, my people need to help me in. Good thing there are other dogs in the house, they have shown me so many new things about living in a home. While I would thrive with another dog in my forever home, it isn’t required. Although it would be good if someone was home a lot with me if I am the only dog. Other things I like to do is sit on foster mom’s lap and take a snooze. She says I have Velcro on my tummy because I like to stick to her – hee hee! I am really hoping you have a me-size spot available next to you! My second favorite place to relax are the dog beds. Since there are several dogs in my foster home, I have lots of options. I am a smart boy – I am doing great with potty training on a routine. In fact, so good that foster mom has been letting me sleep in her bed with the rest of the gang. We haven’t worked on leash training – so I require a fenced yard in my forever home. I am also learning the words “out”, “sit” and “stay”. My favorite word is “up” because that means up the stairs and into the bed. We are learning to play with toys, I have started to help myself to toys and trying to figure out catch. I will need more practice in my forever home. There are cats in my foster home and I don’t mind them. One is bigger than me and I tried to smell him – he boxed me a few times so I left him alone. I am a little too curious, so it would be best if there were no cats in my forever home. Not that I am a bad boy, but my curiosity might get me in trouble. My journey started a bit shaky—literally. When I first came into rescue, I was so scared of people and this big, confusing world. But with the help of my amazing foster family, both the humans and my doggo friends, I’m slowly blossoming into a confident poodle princess. When I’m feeling playful, I love to throw toys around and chase them—it’s like I play fetch with myself! I also enjoy chewing on bones and going for walks, especially when I’m feeling frisky. But what I really love is curling up next to my foster humans and dog friends for some good cuddles. I’m learning more each day that the world can be a safe and fun place, even though I still get a little nervous sometimes. Loud noises and certain people can spook me, so I do best with a double leash when we’re out and about, just to make sure I stay safe. Speaking of being outside, I’m working on my leash training, and I’m getting better every day. I’m also practicing my potty training – I am very good about going outside and using a potty pad if I can’t make it. I used to love my crate so much that I never wanted to leave, but now that I’m feeling braver, I’m not so into the whole crate thing. I don’t mind eating in there, but if you close the door, I’ll definitely let you know I’m not a fan! I’m also super attached to my foster dog siblings, especially the Cavaliers here. If I can’t see them, I get a little panicked, so another dog is required in my forever home to help me feel safe and confident. Oh, and did I mention I have the most beautiful blue eyes? I’m a total sweetheart who loves to cuddle and be close to my people. Watching me come out of my shell little by little has been really special for my foster family. At 18 pounds (and growing!), I’m all about fun and play. I love everyone I meet—humans, dogs, and even cats! I’m still figuring out how to play with other dogs and my foster siblings, but I’m getting the hang of it. Toys are my favorite, and I can chew on bones all day long. I’m great with kids and love being part of the family. I’m still working on potty training, but I’m making progress. I’ve already got “sit” and “go potty” down, and I’m practicing  crate training, though I might bark a bit while I’m in there. When it comes to leash walking, I’m doing pretty well but still a work in progress! Cats? Oh, I just want to play with them! I don’t have a prey drive, just a lot of puppy energy that I’m eager to burn off. So only dog savvy cats allowed in my forever home. Overall, I’m a sweet, happy-go-lucky pup who’s learning fast. I’m still working on my manners, but I’m a joy to be around and will bring lots of love and laughter to my forever home. Hi! My name is Chaparro and I am from Minnesota. From his foster: Chappy is an adorable 10 year that loves to be cuddled. He also like to have space to relax and take a nap. He is house trained so no kennel is necessary but he has been kenneled in the past. He cries for a few minutes when I leave but then settles down. He loves to tell me when something is going on outside. He does well on the lease and likes exploring the backyard. Chappy would do well in a female only home. Perhaps with some training he will get over his fear of men. He gets along with other dogs and older children. Chappy is just a lovable little guy that needs a home where he feels loved and safe.

Hi! My name is Cookie and I am from Minnesota. From her foster: Cookie a yorkipoo breeder release. She has diabetes and is blind, but still manages to be sweet and silly. She loves being with her humans and snuggles. She has strong opinions about being separated and will use her voice to let you know exactly how she feels. She is also pretty quick to settle down. She does seem to go potty and poop on a schedule but is also still prone to have accidents in the house. She doesn't have accidents in her kennel, on the furniture,or while being held. She does enjoy small walks and does okay on a leash. Because Cookie is blind I do feel that she would benefit from another small to medium sized dog in the house. She would need someone willing to keep a good schedule for her Insulin and to follow through with veterinarian appointments. From the Vet: I am Cookie and I have been cleared for adoption! After TBB helping to address my medical issues I will share where I am at with all of them. My diabetes is currently managed on 1.5 units of insulin twice daily and a special veterinary diet. My next recheck glucose curve (typically a day that I stay at the vet for monitoring throughout the day) will be due approximately 2-5 months from September 2024. I was seen for a mammary mass removal surgery recently and the good news is that the biopsy showed that the tumors were benign with good margins. This means that the removal procedure is likely to be curative for these masses and we do not expect me to need any future care for this issue. It is always good to routinely monitor for any masses and have them evaluated in the future should any present. Now that my mass removal is done and my diabetes is stable, I can be scheduled for my dental procedure. This procedure + 1 round of medications and a recheck appointment can be included in my adoption contract. If adopted prior to the dental, I can still go to my new home and settle in, but the adopter will be responsible for transport to this appointment.

Hi! I’m Sheila, I'm 8 years old and done being a mama! I’m enjoying my new life in Minnesota learning to play and looking forward to retiring on a couch, eating treats, playing with my toys, and snuggling up with my people. I’ve been spending my days dancing around my foster home trying out ALL the toys and ALL the beds, sniffing ALL the smells in the backyard, and taking naps both inside and out. Things I’ve learned I love are attention, treats, attention, toys (especially squeaky ones), attention, breakfast and dinner, attention, and sitting in laps. And did I mention attention? Things I’m figuring out is pottying outside (I know to go outside, but usually go inside once a day just because i want to!), which things/plants are ok to chew (hint- phone charger cords are NOT ok), and sometimes other dogs (I want ALL your attention!) I play tug and chase with the right companion but they need to be ok with me being the boss. Things I’m not a fan of are storms and loud noises, strangers, and the super cold weather. I don’t know or care what cats are- boring! I’m poodly smart with a big personality and would love to learn more games and might benefit from working with a trainer to help me learn to share if I end up living with other dogs. I can get a little jealous and bossy!  I will let you know if it sounds like anyone is coming home so living in a place with shared walls won't work for me as all those noises make me anxious and our neighbors won't like me letting them all know!  I will also answer if I hear other dogs calling me, ignoring them would be rude! I don't really like the leash but love to go outside in my fenced in yard to go potty, so I will definitely need a fence!  Zoomies in the yard or chasing my people are enough exercise for me. What I want most in life is to snuggle my BFF and eat treats. Can you be that BFF? I'm a little cautious around people and don’t like loud noises or a lot of commotion, so I’m not sure if kids are a good fit for me! I admit that I follow my foster mom everywhere, not necessarily because I want her attention, but because I want to know what she’s up to. Unless, of course, she’s giving the other pups attention—then I must be part of the action! Hee hee! I love playing with toys and eating treats. I've even started taking treats from my foster mom’s hand. Yay for me! I’m still working on potty training and doing great if kept on a routine. I also don’t like the kennel or crate. In fact, I will holler a lot when I first go into the crate and randomly throughout the night, so just for the record, you have been warned! Hee hee! I will need a dog companion and a fenced yard in my new home so we can safely explore and play together. At home, I’m lovingly shy. I kiss my foster mom in the morning and get really excited when she asks, "Are you ready to eat?" Hi, my name is Corbin and I am a very shy and timid young guy that is ready to find my forever people with patience, toys and lots of love to help me be the best I can be! I’m very afraid of being touched by humans but I do love them.  Over the past few months, foster mom has been working with me on getting used to touch. She can now hold me and put me in her lap and I know I am safe.  I give her smiles and tail wags.  I’ve been brave enough to lick my foster mom’s hand but I’ll run away if you try to hold me or pick me up.  that whole picking me up thing makes me nervous and I panic, but I do enjoy gentle scratches.  With time, lots of patience and love, I’ll get there.  I’m getting a little better every day but when things are scary, they’re really scary! You have to understand that I likely have never been in a loving home so sounds like the TV, clanking dishes, the horrible vacuum and lots of commotion might make me a little worried. I have shown foster mom that I do have some puppy antics in me, hee hee! I like to play with soft toys, run around the yard and wrestle with the other dogs in my foster home. So, it’ll be important that I have a good doggy role model in my forever home to help me learn that touch isn’t scary and keep learning. A social, well-balanced and confident dog is required. This means that my buddy will need to show me humans are safe, how to get on a potty routine and teach me which toys are the best! My fur-brother and the other dogs in my foster home have been amazing teachers! I am still working on my dog skills like potty training. We go outside on a routine, but I will still need of practice in my forever home. Foster mom wants to let you know that I am smart – I already know what “go potty” means! We tried kennel training, and oh boy, I will tell you how much I don’t like it! Bark bark! Foster mom uses gates for the dogs when she isn’t home. I also bark at her when she comes home – maybe I’m telling you I’m glad you’re home, or maybe I’m filling you in on what happened when you were away!  Also, a fenced yard is required as I don’t have a leash or tie-out experience. This is very important for potty training too. My foster mom said I’m fun, adorable, learns quickly and likes to play with other dogs and that I play hard!  Oh and that I have a wonderful appetite! I will let you know with a bark bark that I am excited for dinner! I’m just an overall, very happy dog who loves the feel of the sun on my face when I’m sitting outside, other dogs and treats.  All I need now is a forever home with lots of patience, unconditional love and a family that will help me be the best I can be! My name is Dwight, and I'm an adorable 15-pound BichonPoo with a heart full of love and a playful spirit. At just 1 year old, I'm still young and learning about the world around me. Let me tell you a bit more about myself. What do you do when you’re a little guy who is just learning all the things that make being a dog wonderful?  You find a forever home that will help guide you through it and exposure you to all the love and patience you can have.  I’m so unsure of things that I need assistance from my loving foster mom who helps me and reassures me in just about everything she can but I also will need another dog in my forever home who can show me all about being a dog and help me be confident.  I'm a loving guy who absolutely adores playing with my foster sister. We have a blast chasing each other around the yard and doing zoomies. I'm a little timid, but every day I'm becoming more confident and comfortable in my surroundings. When I'm outside, I need to be on a leash for extra safety, but I'm getting better at coming back from the fenced yard into the house without any trouble. I'm a great eater and a bit mischievous, which adds to my charm. In the mornings, I love to wake up my foster parent by licking their ear—I'm such a sweetheart! I do have a few fears, like loud noises and a lot of commotion, so if there are kids in my forever home it would be best if they are older. Potty training is a work in progress for me; I know to use a potty pad and go outside, but I still have occasional accidents inside. I'm not crate trained, but I don't mind because I prefer to have a bit more freedom. Some of my favorite activities include chewing on bones and playing with plush toys. I do bark when my foster parent comes home and when I see a dog on the TV—it's just my way of saying I'm excited! I need to be in a home with another dog to help me build trust and get into a good routine. With patience and love, I'll continue to grow more confident. I'm a wonderful dog who just needs a little extra time and care to fully blossom. If you think you can provide the loving, patient home I need, I'd be so excited to meet you. Together, we can create a lifetime of happy memories! *I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. Ideally my forever home would need to be home during the day to help me with my potty training and not leave me for breaks longer than 3 - 4 hours. Get your toy box ready! **Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters. Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter. Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized. If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe.
