Story
Chico is a sweet, scruffy little mystery mix with a heart as big as his 12-pound frame. At around 6 years old (our best guess), Chico’s journey began as a stray, but he’s now ready for a fresh start in a loving home.
This gentle boy can be a little shy at first, but warms up quickly with women. He’s a super lap dog and wants lots of love. He’s not well socialized with men, but his calm nature makes us hopeful he’ll adapt beautifully with time, love, and patience. He’s great with other dogs and would thrive with a canine companion who can show him the ropes. While we’re not sure about cats, we don’t recommend kids in the home at this time.
Stairs are still a bit of a puzzle for Chico, but with encouragement and training, we know he’ll figure them out. He’s also on his way with housebreaking. He’s a resilient little guy who’s already come so far.
Breed? That’s anyone’s guess! Maybe a poodle, maybe a schnauzer, maybe the perfect little mutt – but his soulful eyes and soft scruff make him adorable, no matter what.

Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
