This pretty girl is Penny! Penny is Min Pin mix, 4.5 years old and 30lbs. This girl is going to need an extra special home. Penny was adopted from us as a puppy and was returned. It appears she was not socialized well, so is very nervous and skittish of new people. Penny has been through training and knows several basic commands like sit, stay, down, leave it and release. Penny's training should continue with someone that will be able to provide consistency to her. Penny is good with cats but has shown she prefers to be the only dog living in her home and loves to play with her person. She would do best in a quiet adult only home with not a lot of visitors. Penny will need a privacy fence or to be leash walked as we were told she can climb a fence. She has come a very long way since being back with her foster mom. She unfortunately was failed as a puppy but we are working hard to make that up to her. We know this girl needs a very specific home but we are true believers that there is family out there for every dog, some just take longer than others to find theirs. My history is a mystery. I was found in a ditch curled up on a pair of jeans. I was pretty scared. I'm very slowly learning to trust. I'm a great size at about 18 lbs. If you have the patience for me come around and get my confidence, I could be the one you are looking for. I am a special case. I'm not going outside or walking on a leash yet, so when they say patience, they really mean a lot of patience and determination - that is what it will take to help me have a good life. To elaborate a bit more, I never wag my tail. I won't sit next to you on the sofa. I don't like it when you touch me. I mean - - - I'm a really special case. Espresso is a gorgeous street dog who’s never experienced the love and comfort of a home. She’s about 3 years old and bony at 22 pounds. She’s probably a complete mutt—a mix of a bunch of breeds. She’s very scared at the rescue so far, but she doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. She hasn’t showed her teeth or growled at all with anyone—human or canine. If your application is approved, you will be required to come to us to pick up your dog.** Coco is 11 years old and she's diabetic, but not on a special diet, as per our vet's recommendation. Her insulin dosage is 5 units of 40u insulin once a day with breakfast. She absolutely loves all food and treats, but with diabetes, the amount she eats each day would need to be carefully controlled! She has diminished eyesight in one eye, but so far, her other eye is clear. She will follow her person around the house and is almost always in the same room. After a while, she will really warm up and is quite affectionate. However, because of this, she would probably do best in a home where she is the only dog because she gets territorial of her space with her person. Not physically aggressive, but a lot of barking. She will also bark at your face when she wants your attention and to be petted. Because of her diabetes, she is mostly pad trained, but she will not hold it, so she needs someone with patience and preferably very free access to a fenced-in yard. Someone who is home with her most of the time would be ideal. Located in St. Louis, her adoption fee is $65..

If your application is approved, you will be required to come to us to pick up your dog.** Louie was surrendered to rescue after his family was no longer able to care for him. He was estimated to be 14 years old, but truthfully, he doesn't seem to be that old, as spry as he is. He runs in the yard with the other dogs and is a good boy. He is bigger than the average Min Pin, at about 25 pounds. He is great with other dogs, would be okay with kids, and has not been cat-tested. He has had a much-needed dental, his bloodwork was excellent, and he had never been neutered, so that was just done, also. He is microchipped, and fully vaccinated. He has a docked tail, but his ears are natural. Louie is a senior looking for a senior! He is in St. Louis, and his adoption fee is $75.
