Story
Stella is a sweet, affectionate senior who loves nothing more than curling up in your lap or snuggling under a blanket for a nap. While she enjoys her walks, trotting happily along the neighborhood, she can be a bit shy and reactive when meeting new people, especially inside her home. Stella thrives in a calm, quiet environment and would do best in a home without a lot of visitors. A family with dog experience who can help her work through her reactivity would be the perfect fit. This little lady loves other dogs and would do well with a calm, confident canine companion. Stella is also great with cats and can live happily alongside them. She enjoys a mix of outdoor adventure and indoor relaxation—whether it’s chasing squirrels in the yard or curling up on the couch. However, she would not do well in a busy city or apartment setting, as she thrives in a more peaceful, spacious environment. Stella has been treated for severe dental disease and now has no teeth, but that doesn’t bother her one bit! She still eats happily and enjoys all the perks of a loving home. She also had mammary cancer removed and is currently doing well, with no ongoing issues. Stella is a resilient little soul who has overcome a lot and is ready to settle into a safe, loving home for her golden years. If you’re looking for a calm, affectionate dog who will bond deeply with her family, Stella may be the perfect fit. She’s ready to find her forever family, where she can live out her days in comfort, love, and peace.

Story
I’m Copper, a 4-month-old Dachshund/Min Pin mix. My sister Cinder and I were surrendered in Louisiana because we were unwanted puppies, but we thrived in our foster home down South. Our foster mom says we are very loving and like nothing better than curling up in someone’s lap. We have lived with other dogs, cats, and children and got along with all of them! We are playful, sweet puppies looking for our forever families. Please apply at https://www.saveadog.org/applytoadopt.asp, and someone will get right back to you with the next steps.

Story
Gordon Ramsey prefers to be referred to as Gordie. He knows his name and wags his tail and looks around for you when you say his name loudly - and preferably at a higher pitch. Gordie's a 15 lb chihuahua. He is looking for a home that will respect him for the independent guy he is. He shows his love and affection with tongue licks and tail wags. He would prefer if you showed your affection by saying his name and scratching his head. He does not like cuddling. He does not like too much noise or chaos. He especially doesn't like when he doesn't feel in control, and while he really loves humans, they are on average ten times his size, so certainly he feels out of control often. Gordie has recently competed in the Biggest Loser challenge and he reports in that he is 1 lb away from his goal weight. A portion of his food portions were cut back and replaced with vegetables. He has liked all vegetables that he has tried except the green peppers. These were each meticulously licked to ensure that no gravy from his wet food on the pieces of green pepper and left in his bowl. He has offered that all green peppers in the future can be donated to the starving dogs on his behalf. Handicaps: - Gordie’s eyesight is failing him. He has cataracts and some eye inflammation that was treated on a recent visit. This has made an already unsure guy, a bit more unsure. - Gordie has separation anxiety that is well managed with Prozac. His anxiety presents itself as whimpering, low howling and searching for the humans. This has not been exhibited since beginning his Prozac. - Gordie is afraid of going down stairs - and will whimper for help. - Gordie has specific rules about how you can and cannot touch him. Since his eyesight is failing, he prefers to have his name spoken, a hand put out for smelling and then you can pick him up from his side. He does not do well when startled- and will give a warning nip. His definition of startled includes when you fall asleep on the couch with him and he awakes on the couch with you. He votes one star- do not recommend. He may sit with you for a few moments, but he really prefers to have all four of his paws firmly on the ground unless you are providing him elevator service (see above for stairs). - Gordie needs trazadone prior to a vet visit if the vet would like to touch him. While you and I know that doctors do things that seem mean but are to help, Gordie has not learned this. He does not understand why you are poking him and will use all of his forces to have you stop. - Gordie has some environmental allergies that can give him an unproductive cough. However, these have been well controlled in his foster home with an over the counter allergy med, zyrtec and benedryl, as needed. Gordie’s hobbies include: - Napping - as often as possible. - Sunbathing - he really loves it. He even plays “dead” with his tongue out. - Gordie spends much of his awake hours finding the humans. Due to his sight issues, this can result in him getting stuck behind furniture. Gordie was built without a reverse feature - so him turning around is reminiscent of an Austin Powers scene. - Giving grateful, loving kisses to his foster mom. - Tail wagging and dancing at dinner time. He even tried to follow his old lady foster sibling's example and yelling in excitement - but he has since learned that this means you eat last... so he has given it up. Ultimately, Gordie is looking for a home that will accept him as he is. If you follow Gordie's rules on cohabitation, he is a great, loving companion. He should not be in a home with children or another vision challenged dog (he thinks it’s very rude when his blind foster sister bumps into him, when he couldn’t see her coming…). He lives well with vision-gifted dogs. Story
Handsome Scappy is a two time visitor to our rescue. Initially, he came to us in 2019 after the family toddlers had frayed his last nerve. When our Shelter contacts diverted Scrappy to us, we welcomed him heartily! Not all dogs enjoy frantic kid affection, so we would like to see Scrappy thrive in an adult home with rescue savvy folks who can provide him with an active lifestyle and a calm structure. Nine years old, Scrappy is ready for his second act in a quiet, calm, adult home where he can unwind and be himself. Scrappy is a medium energy dog, who can certainly explode into the occasional Zoomies, but overall would prefer a quiet vibe. He could easily thrive in a serene adult home with other mellow dogs.  It seems to us that Scrappy is a mostly Min Pin, with a smidge of another Terrier that would explain his reverse black and tan markings. He is a splendid looking, muscular dog at just 12 pounds. He has a fantastic presence for a small dog. Scrappy has good house manners and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during his transition to a new home. He is in optimal health, and has been neutered. He has received routine vaccinations and health screenings. If you are interested in Scrappy, please write to Denise at Angelsfrgod@aol.com or call/text Denise at 860-908-9738 for more info.
