Story
Do you have a little room on your lap for Amber?  That's her favorite place to be. What she lacks in size she more than makes up for in personality. April is a 6 -year-old, 10 pound, Min Pin, Chihuahua mix. She enjoys roaming around the yard and lying on the sunny patio. She is house-trained but due to her small size she needs to be supervised at all times when she is outside.  If you're home a lot and looking for an ideal companion, your search is over. Amber will be happy to be with you all day and night. She asks very little in return for the pleasure she gives. Just come and meet her and you'll see what we mean.  Amber gets along very well with other small dogs in her foster home and loves to play with them. She likes people but would probably prefer a quieter home without small children running around. As with any dog, a new environment and new routines means Amber may need a refresher course in housetraining.  Amber is spayed, up to date on shots and microchipped.  If you are interested in making Amber a permanent member of your family, please fill out our online   Application* .  Amber’s adoption fee of $350 helps with medical expenses of the rescue.  Thank you for “thinking rescue”.  Phoenix metro adoptions only.       * An application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match.  Applications are forwarded to the foster family for review and follow-up.March 4, 2025, 1:43 pm

Story
**courtesy post** Meet Semper Fi! This little girl comes from a family of military. Semper Fi is the Marine Corps motto, meaning “Always Faithful” 🫶 This is my grandmother’s little dog who passed away recently 💔 I was sooo worried for her because she was so depressed & wouldn’t make eye contact. She was obsessed with my grandma. Really, they were obsessed with each other almost to the point where it was unhealthy 😂 My grandma & I caught her in 2016. We found out she was pregnant & she had 2 beautiful babies that found homes quickly. I wanted to adopt her out too but my grandma had just put her other little dog down & she needed a dog for her soul. So she stayed. My grandma was SO scared of losing her - she never let her outside. She used pee pads. I know this might sound cruel but my grandma didn’t know any better and only wanted to protect this street dog. Can you imagine not going outside for 8 years? Can you imagine losing your mom & having your whole world flipped upside down? You can now understand why I was so worried for this little dog having to face such a huge transition. Since being with me for a few days now, she goes in / outside on her own & LOVES the sunshine and exploring - it’s so cute to watch her discover this new life. She is looking for a patient home that will understand they need to go slow and allow her time to adjust, thrive and blossom. Whoever adopts her will need a secure yard. Spayed, vaccinated & microchipped. Text 602-931-3029 you're interested!

Story
Gypsy is a very laid-back Miniature Pincher not quite typical of the breed. She may be a mix, however. She does have a docked tail though. She is as sweet as she is pretty. She was a bit overweight when she came to us, but has lost some of her weight. Sadly, she was found in the parking lot of a hospital, which makes us wonder if her owner wasn’t hospitalized and had to let her go with no one to care for her. We have waited long and looked hard hoping an owner would come forward. She is just as sweet and gentle as she can be. She doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. She would be perfect for somebody who wants a dog to be with them and just hang out with not a whole lot of activity. She enjoys walks, however, and appears to be house trained, at least with the dog door, but we cannot guarantee that. She is estimated to be 3 1/2 years old and Gypsy weighed 19 pounds at the time of her spay although she has lost a little since then. Gypsy is not a nervous dog and not a barker! Gypsy’s adoption fee is $275 This fee includes at least one health exam at our veterinarian while in our care, altering, all vaccinations including rabies (as permitted by age), a pre-adoption professional grooming and a microchip with lifetime membership that never will cost you a fee. All dogs also leave with a new collar and or harness and leash as well as a gift bag which includes among other things, a starter bag of the quality kibble that is being fed at the rescue. Adoption fees also allow us the ability to put funds towards the next homeless or unwanted dog in need of rescue! If you would like to be considered to for this adoption or any of our amazing rescues, please fill out the application with the help of this link. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/Arizona Shih Tzu and Small Breed Rescue 501(c)(3) We review each application carefully. Please understand that sometimes we get numerous applications for specific dogs and as a volunteer-based rescue, we do not always have the time to respond to each one. We do our best to choose the most suitable home for each dog based on their specific personality and needs. Please note you MAY NOT be contacted for up to 10 days to schedule a meet and greet if your family is the most suitable for this rescue dog. Regrettably, we do not have the manpower currently to contact all applicants. We keep ALL applications in our database so please feel free to contact us when you see another dog of interest. We appreciate all applicants and do our best to pair every dog and family for a successful and happy life.
