Story
*This dog is located in the Niagara area*Apply to PALLIATIVE FOSTER at rebeldogrescue.com*Hey yall, Im Otis! One of my hobbies is napping, whether it be on your carpet or in your lap. I might be 65lb, but weighted blankets are a thing these days right!? I love being outdoors, and I use my nose to sniff around and take in all the fresh air. I would like to say that Im a total love bug once I get to know you! Otis has embarked on a board & train program following minor bite incidents so that we could learn more about how we can help Otis succeed and become a well-balanced and confident dog. From Otis' trainer:After working with Otis in our board and train program we have discovered he is not an aggressive dog. Otis is nervous, sensitive and fearful. Mainly to new people and loud noises. He needs an owner who will continue his training. He has learnt place, leash walking, crate training, sit, recall, release command, waiting at thresholds and waiting for food. Otis responds well to a calm, confident leader. He needs someone to help with his decision making. He is not a high energy dog so the walks and keeping his training up is all he needs. Otis will also need an owner who advocates for him, so that means making sure not to let strangers walk up on him. He is unsure of loud noises and even the vacuum cleaner. We continue to teach Otis how to walk away when he feels nervous instead of becoming defensive. This is another example of advocating for him. His new must be stepping in when he feels nervous and getting him to a place where he feels confident and safe. Otis is looking to put his bite history in the past. We are confident with the right owner he will be successful and make a wonderful companion!Name: Otis Weight: ~65lbAge ~6 yearsGender: MaleBreed: American bulldog mixColour: WhiteMedical: Skin cancer, treated for heartworms, received dental cleaning, possible allergies and has been received penicillin inj and dexamethasone inj. Story
Cornell is fostered in Caledonia. Apply to adopt at rebeldogrescue.com*All adoptions with Rebel Dog Rescue have a 15 day probation period. Read about our adoption process on our website. Cornell is a nervous dog with heart of gold. Hes been at the shelter for 109 days - and has spent a lot of his formative months inside of a noisy chaotic place. He is hyper aware of all the scary noises going on at the shelter and is a pretty reserved because of it. Cornell has done great in his foster home. He is calm and quiet in the kennel, and has been friendly with everyone he has met. He would do best in a home that allows him time to decompress at his own pace, in the safety of his crate. In his foster home it took him about one week to feel confident leaving his crate and joining the household routines. A quieter home outside the busy city core would be ideal as a slower pace will certainly help him show his true personality. He gained more and more confidence over time in his foster home. Once you gain his trust he is treat motivated, and his favourites are Yak Chews and Carrots! Cornell would thrive with another friendly dog in the home to show him routine and build his confidence. Cornell lived with a dog and two cats in his foster home and did great in all their interactions. In fact he saw deer, squirrels, skunks etc and in all situations he was calm and gave a 'live and let live' vibe. He seems to be very accepting of all people and animals he has met.
