Story
Meet Gabby! Gabby is a stunning and affectionate Mastiff/Great dane mix. At only around three years old, she already knows some basic commands (including sit, down, and up), making her an incredibly intelligent and trainable pooch! Despite her size, Gabby is a gentle giant who walks well on a leash and gently approaches the people she meets. Her loving nature and eagerness to please make her an ideal companion for someone looking for a big and beautiful best friend. She came to us after being rescued from a situation of neglect, and she has since healed both physically and emotionally, proving that she still has a lot of love to give. This gorgeous girl somehow still has space in her heart for love and affection despite it all -- do you have space in your heart for her? If you're interested in adopting Gabby, please come visit the shelter or send an email to adoptpetersburg@gmail.com and include "Gabby" in the subject line. We look forward to helping Gabby find her forever home!

Story
Are you ready to welcome a distinguished gentleman into your home? Bruno might just be the perfect match for you! Despite his senior status (estimated 14 years young), Bruno has plenty of pep in his step and a heart full of love to share. With a little tender love and care, he's sure to thrive and enjoy many more happy years by your side. Bruno is in good health, as confirmed by recent bloodwork, but he'll need updated vaccines and regular veterinary care to ensure he stays in top shape. He's housebroken and well-behaved indoors, though he wears a belly band due to a condition called smegma. Don't let that deter you - he's still a clean and respectful housemate! While Bruno knows the command "sit," he's still working on his "stay" skills. He can tolerate a crate for short periods but much prefers the comfort of a cozy couch. He's a social butterfly who gets along well with other dogs indoors, but he may be reactive on walks, likely just eager to meet new furry friends. Unfortunately, Bruno isn't a fan of cats - he's got a bit of a chasing instinct! But don't worry, he's more interested in toys and treats anyway. This affectionate sweetheart loves nothing more than spending time with his humans. He's got puppy energy to spare and enjoys a good game of fetch or a romp in the yard. Keep in mind, Bruno is a big boy with a big heart, so he'd do best in a home with adults or older children who can handle his size and energy level. A work-from-home situation or the ability to come home midday for potty breaks would be ideal for him. If you're looking for a loyal companion who's equal parts cuddly and playful, look no further than Bruno. Come meet him today and see if he's the perfect fit for your family! Send an email to adoptpetersburg@gmail.com and include "Bruno" in the subject line if you're interested in this perfect gentleman.

Story
Rocco is currently 8 months old and around 80lbs. He will top out over 100lbs. He has been a great puppy thus far, picking up a few commands, is house trained, good with both kids and dogs. Unfortunately, I am unable to keep him due to health issues and not being able to give him the time he deserves. He loves the water, likes being both inside and out and has a lot of puppy energy. I am looking for someone who has the necessary time to spend with him . He would do well in a family setting with a fenced yard, kids, and or another dog. The rehoming fee is negotiable, includes dog house, dog bed , feeding bowls, toys, etc. I am willing to do a meet and greet with anyone local to make sure it he is a good fit for both you and I. It is extremely important to me that he finds a good home! Thanks!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Fill out an Adoption Application HEADLINER: Izzabella aka Izzy. HISTORY: One owner who did not provide basic medical care so Izzy lived many year with out of control skin issues, ear infections, UTI’s, etc. PERSONALITY: Izzy is a sweet, friendly girl that loves meeting new people and welcoming them into the house. She loves attention and affection and will lean in hard for pets and ear scratches. She tends to spend her days snoozing away but when she gets the zoomies she takes them seriously and this girl can move despite her age.  She lives peacefully with a 60lb male mixed breed but is reactive when seeing dogs out on a walk. Izzy is a bit fearful of fireworks and thunderstorms and will sometimes get spooked by loud noises. Izzy likes things to happen on her own personal timeline and can be stubborn when they don’t. She will test limits by whining and carrying on (dancing around, stomping her feet, wagging her tail furiously while staring at you) to try to get her way. She’s learning that those things don’t work in our house but it’s hard not to laugh at her antics. She’ll do it to the other dog in the house too when he’s laying in a bed that she wants. She usually gets her way with the dog.  FAVORITE ACTIVITIES: Napping, soaking up love and attention, laying in the sun MEDICAL ISSUES: With vet care and a quality diet Izzy’s skin issues and ear infections have cleared up and she is no longer a big itchy mess. She did have a mammary tumor removed while being spayed. She is not currently on any medications. WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST KIND OF HOME: Izzy enjoys hanging out with her people, so a family that spends a lot of time around the house/yard/garden would be great for her. Once integrated with another dog she is very polite and respectful but she definitely needs slow introductions to new dogs. Application Fees, Adoption Donations and Rescue Policy: Please know that 100% of our fees and donations pay for the costs of rescuing dogs. These include but are not limited to pull fees from shelters, veterinary examinations, vaccinations, medications and care, microchips, neuter/spay surgeries, heartworm treatments, behavior evaluations, and foster care, as needed. She was found with a badly broken leg that required amputation, but please do not tell her that. After less than a month since surgery she loves to run and play and sleep in the fall leaves.  HISTORY: Rockette was found by animal control after she had fallen in a quarry. She suffered multiple fractures which led to her hind leg amputation.                                                   PERSONALITY:  Sweet, lovable, a good girl who loves to cuddle and be cuddled. Easy going and well behaved. She loves to go outside when her humans or dog friends are out with her. She will run and play and then promptly find a shady spot for a quick nap.
