Story
Have you ever been stuck in a bit of a time warp? One where you keep wondering when your life will truly begin? Because I have. I suppose I used to have a home. It has been so long now that I really cannot remember much about it. All I can remember is that one day my family decided they didn't want me anymore and ended up surrendering me to the shelter. That was probably one of the hardest things I have ever gone through. Do you know how hard it is to be walked into a place you are already weary of but because your owner is by your side you do it anyway? And then hearing all the pleas for help from the other animals there and just wanting to run away? But instead, your owner hands over he leash and walks out. And instead of getting to back through that door with them, you are walked to the back with dozens of kennels and other dogs all wondering why they are here? Yeah, not my idea of a fun time. I entered what would end up being my home for quite some time......4 months to be exact. Yep, for whatever reason no one ever chose me. I watched countless dogs get adopted and find their people, but yet people always walked by my kennel and never noticed me. It was so depressing. I felt like my life was just passing me by. I was alive but not really living. I was so happy for the dogs that did find families, but I was also left wondering why no one wanted me. What I didn't know, was that PPFT was working behind the scenes to try and find a foster family for me. They ended up reaching out to the public for help and thanks to my amazing foster family, I was finally able to make a jailbreak! They think I’m about 2 years old and weigh in at around 80lbs, which makes me a big, fluffy powerhouse of cuteness. Yep, I’m basically the living, breathing embodiment of a teddy bear—if teddy bears ate snacks and left fur everywhere, that is. So, prepare yourself to find a bit of “Glipyr” (my fancy word for fur) all over the place. It’s like a free subscription to a fluffy new decor trend, compliments of me As for my ancestry? Well, I’m still not sure if I’m secretly a mix of rare mystical creatures or just a regular ol’ Mastiff/Pyr hybrid. One thing’s for sure—I’ve got the Mastiff look down, and the Pyr "fluff explosion" nailed. So, who knows? I could be the majestic offspring of a Mastiff and a Pyr, or I could just be an absolute mystery wrapped in fluff and good intentions. Either way, I'm big, I’m fluffy, and I’m ready to spread joy (and a little bit of fur) wherever I go! It’s honestly a mystery how I sat at the shelter for so long unnoticed. I mean, hello—have you seen me? People are baffled, and I get it. I’ve got the full package: beauty, brains, and a personality that’ll make you want to hit "pause" on your life to cuddle me. They call me Brookie because my markings are like a delicious swirl of brown cookie dough (minus the calories, obviously). Seriously, my coat is chef’s kiss—so soft, you’d think I was part bunny, part Tasmanian tiger, part bear. Yep, I’m basically the love child of nature’s softest creatures, with markings that could be featured in a "Best Dressed Coat" magazine. But don't let my good looks fool you—I’m not just a pretty face. I’m also a dog who LOVES other dogs. I’m playful enough to keep up with my furry friends, but I’m also an expert at transitioning to nap mode once the wrestling session winds down. And when it’s time for downtime, I’m a pro at cuddling. I’ve got a perfect balance of play and chill, which means I’ll be ready for whatever fun my family throws my way—whether that’s a hike or a Netflix binge. I’m also fostering a love for kids. Gentle pats and soft snuggles are my jam, and with my super soft fur, I’m basically a kid magnet. But, full disclaimer, I’m still learning the ropes of being a family dog, so it’s probably best if your kids are old enough to understand that I’m a lover, not a rough-and-tumble toddler playmate. I’m sure we’ll work it out, but I need a gentle approach until I get fully comfortable. As for those “purrinator” creatures, I’m not quite sure what to make of them yet. If they’re calm and chill, we’ll probably get along just fine. But if they’re strutting around like they own the place? Well, we might need to have a little chat about boundaries. Ah, speaking of boundaries. I'm practically royalty when it comes to following house rules. You could say I'm a quick study. I'm completely potty trained (no accidents here, folks!), though, in the beginning, I insisted on having my foster family accompany me outside. Why? Well, I was just worried that if I went out alone, they might forget about me! I mean, can you blame me? A dog's gotta have some peace of mind, right? So, heads up: my new family will need to be prepared to escort me outdoors for the first few days—after all, I am royalty, and royalty don't go out unescorted. Now, I’ve got house manners down to an art. I’ve earned the privilege of free-roaming the house, and honestly, who could resist? I’ve never been kenneled, and frankly, I’m hoping my new family will extend me the same courtesy. And speaking of privileges, I’ve discovered the couch. Oh, the couch... It’s soft, it’s plush, it’s basically heaven on earth. So, if you find me lounging there, don’t be too surprised. I’m just living my best life—and by "best life," I mean "getting all the cuddles and napping in my royal spot." As for chewing, well, I’m not really into that. Unless you leave shoes lying around. Yes, I have developed a bit of a shoe fetish... I mean, they smell like you, and who wouldn’t want to chew on something that smells like their favorite human? So, I may have left my “mark” (and a little slobber) on a few. But hey, together forever, right...I am just helping make it a bit more shoeffical! Now, about my living situation—yes, I’m a big girl, but I don’t mind living in a "fun-sized" house (aka apartment). Sure, you might find yourself dodging my fluffy butt a bit in tight spaces, but I promise I won't mind as long as you’re giving me tons of love and regular walks. Speaking of walks, I’m probably not ready to be the town's social butterfly just yet. New places and situations are still a little scary for me. But hey, we can totally work up to it! Just don’t expect me to be the talk of the town right off the bat... well, except for my gorgeous markings. That’s definitely a crowd-pleaser. When it comes to meeting new people, I’m not like those golden retrievers who think everyone is their BFF, but I’m also not a German Shepherd who greets everyone like they’re an intruder. I’m somewhere in the middle—cordial but cautious. I’m well-mannered on a leash, though, and won’t be tripping you up or dislocating your shoulder during our walks. Let me just say—I’m basically the perfect fit for any family. I’m the versatile type, ready to roll with both active families and laid-back ones. I’m like the Swiss Army knife of dogs. But here's my one request: I’d prefer to have another dog in my new home. Why? Because they’re like my personal confidence coaches and, honestly, they know all the best spots to nap. Plus, they help me figure out the “rules” of this whole world, which is super helpful because, let’s face it, I’m still working on the basics. I do have a bit of a quirky side, like those delightful little zoomies I’ll throw in when the mood strikes. Trust me, when I get going, it’s pure entertainment for everyone around. You’ll never have to pay for Netflix again—just watch me zip around and try to dodge furniture like I’m in an action movie. Now, about that game called fetch...yeah, I don’t get it. Why would I run after something you tossed away? It’s like playing a game where you do all the work, and I just get tired. I mean, I'm super into being loved and petted, so why not just focus on that instead? But don’t worry, I do love toys—just, uh, not the kind that roll or get tossed. You can throw ‘em if you like, but I’d much rather give them a good chew or stare at you with my best “You’re going to pet me, right?” face. Well, folks, I think it’s safe to say I’m finally living the dream. I’ve learned so much and I’m buzzing with excitement because I’m just this close to finding my forever family! I mean, who wouldn’t want to bring me home? But there’s one little thing I need to mention—I’m currently being fostered in Broken Arrow, OK, and, honestly, I’d prefer to skip the whole being transported by someone who isn't my family part. Why not make it a road trip? I think it’s much more personal for us to bond right from the start as we roll home together. Now, I’ve been waiting for a long time to find my forever family, so if you decide to welcome me into your heart and home, just know it’s a forever commitment. I mean, can you imagine getting all excited about being adopted, and then, poof, I’m sent back because life changed? I’d probably need therapy after that! So, if you’re ready to take the plunge and bring me home for good, I’m ready to return all the love and snuggles you’ve been waiting for. Let’s make this journey one that lasts a lifetime!
