He is a gentle giant who was found wandering during a thunderstorm, seeking safety and comfort. While we don't know much about where Marvel came from, we do know that he arrived with a heart of gold and a massive smile that is sure to melt your heart. Marvel loves to play with other dogs and is always down for snuggles and a good chew toy, making him the perfect cuddle buddy after a long day. Marvel is crate trained and housebroken. He knows basic commands, but can get a little excited when meeting someone new-he might just jump up for a hug! His friendly nature makes every introduction a joyful occasion. Marvel loves to go for walks and is good in the car. He gets along great with other dogs and even smaller animals like cats and chickens! Rosie was found tied to post behind an abandoned building. Suspected to be used in dog fighting. I fell in love with her the moment I met her. Brought my son and my dog to meet her and they all got along great. However, Rosie began to attach herself to me and attacked our dog twice, but gets along fine with my boyfriends dog - they play a lot! She has snarled at son. We have been working on her reactivity. However, I am nervous with her around my son. She is so sweet and cuddly - she thinks she is a lap dog. However, she will defend no matter what and this makes me very nervous. We are starting muzzle training but she can’t be in a muzzle 24/7 and I’m nervous about her snarling at my son. She is great with cats needs- I think ideally she would be in a quiet home with no other dogs (tho would probably enjoy play with a muzzle on) and probably no kids. She is on high alert and very guarding of her people - she love her people so so much

Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35).
