Story
Meet Sugarbear! Sugarbear is a sweet and scruffy little Maltese with a heart full of love! At around two years old, she’s gentle, affectionate, and always ready to be your loyal couch buddy. She has experience living with another small dog and could happily join a home with a furry friend—or she’d be just as content as your one and only, soaking up all the love. Sugarbear adores people and thrives on affection. Whether you have a house with a yard where she can lounge by your side or you prefer apartment living with daily strolls, she’ll fit right in. Sugarbear would be a wonderful companion for a family, an older adult, or a singleton, as long as she gets the love and attention she deserves. If you’re looking for a cuddly, devoted best friend, Sugarbear is ready to fill that role! We travel to WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT and Canada (Canadian adopters will need to pick up in Bellingham, WA  or Brattleboro, VT for the eastern Canadian border)! Our pups travel in comfort with 24/7 care on our USDA licensed vehicles, including buses and cargo vans. You can join along on our private Facebook event page to follow their adventure, connecting you with other adopters and providing updates throughout their transport journey! You will get to meet your new pup over a video call before signing paperwork, creating a fun and personalized adoption experience!  The adoption fee is $1,600 and includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, a 12 month heartworm preventative injectable, heartworm test and treatment if needed, a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, a health certificate deeming the pup healthy for travel, cost of transport*, and priceless years of love and loyal companionship!  We have over 15,000 successful adoptions so far and have excellent Google Reviews: https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.  Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!  Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.  The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs. It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS: Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family  Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion A free private online dog training session with GoodPup, plus low pricing for future sessions  70% off of your first order of Fetch, a delicious PNW based fresh dog meatballs subscription Coupons for a fun visit to Petco 20% off of Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions Discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer  Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission! Story
HI - I'M CHLOE! I'm a 2-year-old white Maltese-Poodle mix in need of a forever home! I weigh only 9 pounds. I was recently rescued from a crowded California shelter, where I became urgent because I was scared. Now I'm in a foster home and am doing so much better! I get along great with other dogs and once I know you, I seek out attention and affection. I will make a great companion for a person or people in a quiet home. I would do best with kids over 12. Please email for an application.

Story
Popcorn is about 18 lbs., 14 years old and according to Google lens, a West highland terrier. Animal Care Services thought he was a Maltese mix and foster mom thinks he could be a Schnauzer/Maltese mix but knows for sure that he is the cutest scruffy EVER!!! His journey hasn't been all snuggles and treats as he lived on someone's apartment patio for years, lying in poop, grass and other debris until Animal Care Services came for him and God's Dogs Rescue was able to save the little scamp. While he still loves his humans, other gentle pups his size (cats unknown) and his squishy toys and chewy, understandably he has a few emotional scars especially regarding vet visits and grooming. Slow, patient progress in these areas has helped him be more confident, but will need a patient adopter to help him adapt. Things that make Popcorn super happy are spending time with his humans after he gets to know them, car rides and walks in the park. He loves, loves his squishy toys and generally carries one around with him. His most favorite game is for his person to chase him and pretend to take his squishy away. He also like to run zooms and if there isn't a person to play with he will often throw his toys for himself. Doesn't that just make you want to throw his stuffies so he can play?? He's a healthy guy for his age with just a few old man issues (beginnings of cataracts) that he takes supplements for and should continue taking. His liver enzymes were high when tested but he is on a med to help them normalize. Can you give this boy the right lap to live in?? He needs very patient/knowledgeable adopters, no children- adult only because he will bite if afraid... It is a work in progress but he is becoming the goofy boy he was meant to be while living on the nasty hot and freezing porch for most of his 14 yrs :( GIVE HIM A CHANCE!!! Local adoption only $200 (in TX)

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
This is BUCKY! When he was found, he was a matted mess with overgrown nails curled around and almost growing into his skin. He also had cherry eyes in both eyes. He was not neutered or microchipped, so after a couple of weeks of searching, his finders reached out and God's Dogs Rescue came to the rescue! Today, BUCKY is a shining example of resilience and determination. He has had it hard in life so far, but he is on the mend. He’s been neutered, had his eyes fixed, his nails done, and his hair is growing back after having to be shaved. With patience and love, he is learning new manners and basic skills like potty training which still needs some work. This love bug is ready to share his life with someone special. He has some separation anxiety, but with time and reassurance, he will flourish. He gets along with dogs, enjoys chasing tennis balls, and snuggling up in his favorite chair. It would be incredible for him to find his forever person to start an unbreakable bond. He is about a year and a half old, weighs about 15 pounds, and is possibly a malti poo or shih poo, so he will need regular spa days at the groomer, but he is HAPPY to stay clean and clipped now :) With a heart full of love and a spirit that's unbreakable, BUCKY is ready to take on the world with his new best friend by his side. Local adoption fee is $350 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $650 (includes transport to your area)
