Story
What my friends at OHS say about me:Are you an introvert? Me too! Hanging out at home and in the company of my few favorite people will be ideal for me, as novelty can be worrisome. My hobbies include casual strolls through the park to sniff the flowers, cuddling on the couch for movies and enjoying plenty of snacks.I'm sweet as can be, once you give me the time to adjust. Let's take the time to get to know each other first, shall we?Give me treats and pets and you will be my new favorite person.I have been diagnosed with dental disease which means I may need dental cleanings or extractions in the future.Shy and Nervous: I can be worried about new people, new surroundings and touch. I prefer to take things at my own pace and will need to live in a calm environment. The type of home I'm looking for:I would prefer to be the only pet in the home.I will need to meet any canine companions prior to getting adopted.I need a home with children old enough to respect my small size, and to be careful with me. You may be drawn to me by my good looks, but remember it takes a lot of upkeep to look this gorgeous! I require regular grooming. It could be with you! Click here to learn about the adoption process. Story
We have a transport where we will be personally taking our dogs home leaving on 3/28/25 to NorCal and OR. Surrounding states will be added to our route if needed ☺️ We would love to add Maybelle to our trip for the right home 💕 Meet our sweet Maybelle! She is a Maltese/Shihtzu mix. She turned 1 year of age on 1/27/25. She is 13.5 lbs. She doesn't look it one bit as she holds her weight very well if you ask me. She is full grown, and at a very healthy weight. She is spayed, current on vaccines, microchipped, and had a thourel exam with our vet who has cleared her to find a home all her own. She is the absolute sweetest little Angel of a dog!! She loves to be held even if she is shy about it!! She reminds me of those soft plush dogs they used to sell in the flower shops with the big sad eyes. I'll have to attach a photo of what I'm talking about down below to show the resemblance!! But even with their big sad eyes they just always made me smile just like she does every time I gaze into her big beautiful eyes!! She is such a beautiful kind hearted soul and I'm so excited to share her with you!! She is crate trained, and currently sleeps in the crate at night very peacefully. She does like to bunk with another dog when she can, but I'm sure she would be just fine sleeping alone in her crate if her next home doesn't have another sweet friend for her to lay with at night. She would equally love being in a dog bed of her own aside yours, or in bed if that's where you prefer to have her 💓 She is doing very well at house training and goes outside every couple hours to use the restroom. She is on a pretty great routine here, and I recommend her new home to have one too. She is used to us just taking her outside throughout the day so she never has to tell us when she needs to potty. She is very trusting that we will just make sure she has time to go out 😊 Leash training is new, but she will have no problem figuring it out with her person. She is shy when meeting anyone she doesn't know, so the outside world means a lot of new people so she has been a tad hesitant on leash, but I'm confident in her ability to conquer her fears!! The world has to know this precious girl and the only way for that to happen is for her to embrace the world outside of her home 💕 She is not a barker at all. She is very quiet and serene tempered. She is not high energy, but has a very soft playful side to her. She is always looking up at me when she sees me, and makes it a point to lock eyes so I can stop and give her cuddles in that very moment 🌸 She is wonderful on road trips of any length, and always loves a good spa day with her favorite groomer so it'll be important to find one you trust so she can share that same bond with her new groomer moving forward. Her previous owner had a few senior dogs, and realized that they were content just being by themselves. While Maybelle never bothered them, she definitely required more attention than their seniors did so they decided it was best to find her a home where she would thrive and be happy all the time with a family or human that would spoil her the way she deserved. Her adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of her adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/maybelle It covers her spay, vaccines, her exam with our vet, and her microchip/registration. She was in heat at time of her spay so there was an in heat increase due to longer anesthesia time, and an antibiotic injection given to aid in the healing of her in heat spay. She also had a dental exam. Her teeth were in overall great health but she had a baby tooth that never fell out so it was removed at time of spay. Her adoption fee also goes back into the care involved in the time she has been with us here, her grooming costs, and her training we have personally done with her 🌸

Story
We have a transport where we will be personally taking our dogs home leaving on 3/28/25 to NorCal and OR. Surrounding states will be added to our route if needed ☺️ We would love to add Josie to our trip for the right home 💕 Meet Josie!! She is a Maltese/poodle. She is 6 months of age. She is set to be spayed on 3/25/25. I will have her weight updated soon. She is estimated to be around 12 lbs full grown. She will be current on all of her yearly vaccines, microchipped, thoroughly examined, and cleared by our vet prior to adoption. She is a sweetheart in its truest form ❤️ She LOVES to play, and has such a beautiful spirit that she can't help but find joy in literally everything!!!! Her favorite thing is playing hide and seek especially if you are wearing wide bottom pant legs that she can fit inside 😂 She is the absolute cutest little thang and will always keep your home full of laughter 🥰 She makes anyone that meets her instantly smile, it's just hard not to!! Maybe it's her big beautiful eyes, or the way she gazes up at you admiring every single part that she loves about you even if she has just met you!! She is instantly drawn to anyone that locks into her making it her duty to ensure they smile before parting ways!! She is a very special girl, and one I'm happy to someone out there will get to call their very own ❤️❤️❤️❤️ She is wonderful with ALL dogs, and cats alike so if you have another sweet companion she will happily join them in life and playtime! She LOVES everyone she meets, no matter who you are!!! Men, women, and children alike. She LIVES to LOVE 💕 She is doing very well at least training, and because her love for the world and all that's in it is so great it has not been hard whatsoever getting her out there to explore every inch of it! If you love walks, or want a sweet friend to join you at dinner; morning coffee at your favorite cafe, or just to walk the town and window shop then she will happily be right by your side!!! And she may even convince you to buy that special something you've been eyeing for a while now but just needed a little bit of encouragement in the form of a second opinion only your best friend could give you 😉 She is doing VERY well at house training and is on a very strict schedule going outside to use the restroom every 3 hours. Sometimes she wants to sun bathe and watch the birds fly above, so it's important to know she has indeed emptied her bladder before coming back inside. She has been very good about it, so we just make sure we walk around with her to remind her body that while her mind wants to take in every new thing in that moment, using the restroom must be on the to do list as well 🙃 She is crate trained, and currently sleeps in her own bed in a crate. She does love bunking with other dogs, even she can but also loves just snuggling up in her favorite donut bed with a soft plushie and calling it a night. She is very easy going and doesn't fight us on bed time at all. If yould like to upgrade her to a bed in your room, or in bed with you I would just reccomend that you are confident she will wake you up in the event she needs to potty in the middle of the night. While in the crate she never wakes up, but she knows it's for bedtime. So it's just about helping her understand the new bedtime rules having more space 😊 Now with all the amazing attributes our beauty has, she is still a young pup learning her way in the world. She will need a lot of guidence, patience, and understanding while she learns the dos and donts. She is smart, aims to please, and is at the perfect age to train so if you have the time to give her she will become an even better version of who she is already, and beleive me that's hard to top because she is pretty great just the way she is ❤️ Her prior owners didn't realize the care, and training involved in raising a well balanced puppy. They knew it would require attention on their end, but as selfish as a decision that it was they realized that they just couldn't commit any further and were just tired 😅 Now! We have taken care of a lot of the hard work since she has been with us here and have implemented training in every area of her life so taking over where we left off will be a great start, with a beautiful new friend 💕 and I promise the sleepless nights are a thing is the past!!! She is now THE reason you want to wake up in the morning 😊 Her adoption fee as of now is on our website ag the bottom of her adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/josie-1 It will cover her spay, vaccines, microchip/registration, and exam with our vet. If anything in addition is needed such as a dental, ear cleaning/treatment, etc. then there will be an adjustment to her adoption fee to help offset those costs. As always her fee also goes back into the care involved in the time she has been with us here, her groomings costs, and her training ❤️

Story
Meet Layla, a sweet and playful 7lb Maltese who is just about to turn one in May! Layla is as loving as she is adorable. She’s great with dogs of all sizes, and her friendly nature makes her an instant companion to anyone she meets. She loves being the center of attention and will follow you around, eager to be by your side, whether you’re out shopping or just lounging at home. She’s great on a leash and enjoys short walks outside. She’s always on alert, ready to let you know if someone is at the door with her little bark. Though Layla has been introduced to a crate, she’d much prefer to sleep in a cozy bed beside yours, and she’ll let you know if she’s not fond of being confined. She’s also doing well with potty training, and she loves cuddling up in her bed for a good nap. Layla’s a little social butterfly. If you’re working at your desk or watching TV, she’ll happily curl up in your lap or sit beside you, content to just be nearby. If you’re busy with other things, she’ll happily settle on her own bed or play with her favorite toy, checking in on you every now and then to make sure you’re not going too far. Road trips are one of her favorites. She’s great in the car and loves her little seat beside you. She’s also a big fan of spa days and comes back looking fresh and feeling fabulous after visiting the groomer. 🥰 Sadly, when Layla came to us, we noticed she wasn’t using her back right leg. After an X-ray, our vet confirmed that she had an old fracture that is due to trauma or genetic factor that requires femoral head ostectomy surgery, a procedure used to relieve pain from hip dysplasia, arthritis, or traumatic injuries. Sweet Layla recently underwent FHO surgery to help her regain mobility and live pain free. Right now, she's in the early stages of recovery, resting comfortably in her crate and getting lots of love and care. The vet has prescribed two weeks of strict rest along with pain and anti-inflammatory medications to help her heal. She has a follow up appointment in two weeks, where will check her progress and see how she's doing. Layla is such a strong girl, and we can't wait to see her get back on her paws! Stay tuned for more updates as she heals. You can follow us on instagram or facebook to see these updates sooner @k9oasisrescue (: We’re hoping to find a patient and loving forever home that can provide Layla with the care she needs as she heals. If you have experience with hip conditions or are simply someone who can offer a calm, loving environment, Layla will flourish with you. Her adoption fee is $3,000, and any donations to help cover her medical costs are greatly appreciated. If you’re interested in adopting or donating, please reach out to us for more details. Thank you for considering Layla, and we hope to hear from you soon! ❤️ Located in Hesperia, CA. We offer out-of-state adoptions and can arrange transportation to your location, provided that the transport expenses are covered.

HI - I'M CHLOE! I'm a 2-year-old white Maltese-Poodle mix in need of a forever home! I weigh only 9 pounds. I was recently rescued from a crowded California shelter, where I became urgent because I was scared. Now I'm in a foster home and am doing so much better! I get along great with other dogs and once I know you, I seek out attention and affection. I will make a great companion for a person or people in a quiet home. I would do best with kids over 12. Please email for an application.

Story
Popcorn is about 18 lbs., 14 years old and according to Google lens, a West highland terrier. Animal Care Services thought he was a Maltese mix and foster mom thinks he could be a Schnauzer/Maltese mix but knows for sure that he is the cutest scruffy EVER!!! His journey hasn't been all snuggles and treats as he lived on someone's apartment patio for years, lying in poop, grass and other debris until Animal Care Services came for him and God's Dogs Rescue was able to save the little scamp. While he still loves his humans, other gentle pups his size (cats unknown) and his squishy toys and chewy, understandably he has a few emotional scars especially regarding vet visits and grooming. Slow, patient progress in these areas has helped him be more confident, but will need a patient adopter to help him adapt. Things that make Popcorn super happy are spending time with his humans after he gets to know them, car rides and walks in the park. He loves, loves his squishy toys and generally carries one around with him. His most favorite game is for his person to chase him and pretend to take his squishy away. He also like to run zooms and if there isn't a person to play with he will often throw his toys for himself. Doesn't that just make you want to throw his stuffies so he can play?? He's a healthy guy for his age with just a few old man issues (beginnings of cataracts) that he takes supplements for and should continue taking. His liver enzymes were high when tested but he is on a med to help them normalize. Can you give this boy the right lap to live in?? He needs very patient/knowledgeable adopters, no children- adult only because he will bite if afraid... It is a work in progress but he is becoming the goofy boy he was meant to be while living on the nasty hot and freezing porch for most of his 14 yrs :( GIVE HIM A CHANCE!!! Local adoption only $200 (in TX)
