You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Little Man is a handsome boy who is looking for a new home. Little Man is now in a NJ foster home. Little Man has a heart murmur and the vet in Louisiana did not recommend proceeding with his neuter. Additionally, he recently tested positive for heartworm. Due to that murmur, slow-kill treatment for heartworm is recommended. Slow-kill treatment includes several rounds of antibiotics every 6 months and heartworm prevention over a period of 1-3 years until the heartworms are no longer present. Little Man has been started on this regimen. He cannot be neutered so will need to be placed in a home where this will not present an issue. Little Man is on vetmedin to help his heart function. With murmurs, they can change abruptly or slowly over time. Little Man might be a hospice placement living less than a year or he could live for several years if progression is slow, it is very difficult to say. Little Man is up to date on vaccines. His adoption fee is $300. Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. They are estimated to be about 10 years old, they are completely bonded and must remain together for the rest of their lives. Don't let their age fool you, these 2 are active, and sometimes vocal. They're affectionate, and quite comical together. The girls are spayed, we had their core vaccines updated, all they need now is a forever home. My name is GRUMPY and I’m a 5y M Tan Shih Tzu X. I’m 15 lbs of PURE SWEET GROUCHINESS. I was brought to a police precinct in the Bronx, NY and luckily the rescue was able to save me before I was taken to the shelter. I was affectionately named Grumpy because I was not immediately warm and fuzzy with the foster mom and growled at her a lot… but once I got to know her and she went slow with me to introduce me to her household… I trusted her and she can do anything to me now. I’m a little guarded with strangers and rightly so because I was pretty much neglected by my previous family. I’m housebroken and walk well on the leash and I can be picked up and handled as long as you slow. I’m a nice guy but nervous at first so I need someone who is going to be patient and believe in me and give me the TLC I need. I’m good with small dogs but am afraid of big dogs and will snap/snark at them. I’ve not met any cats so not sure about them and best if I don’t go with any young kids. I prefer to be the ONLY DOG so I can get all the attention that I never got in my previous home. My only other vice is that it’s not easy to groom me.. I’m nervous around objects coming to my face so I need to go to an experienced groomer but I was fine being handled by the vet. I need a QUIET ADULT ONLY home with someone or a couple that are home a lot and have had previous experience with a “grumpy” dog and are willing to give me the TLC and believe in me to make me the SWEET AND LOVING dog I know I can be!! ** Current Location: in a private facility in South Korea ** • Rescue Story : A dog with its eyes completely missing, a dog whose body was entirely blackened, a dog with rotting genitals... We struggle to find the words to describe the horrors we witnessed. Like hamsters on a wheel, the dogs cried out for help. There were every kind of dog here, some that were once fashionable and others currently in demand. The once trendy dogs were dying in the corner, while those now popular were crying out for salvation with every part of their body. This place had been illegally breeding and abusing animals for 25 years. From this hell, the rescue team saved Lulu. • Personality: Cuddle lover, people-oriented, loyal Lulu is affectionate and friendly with all people. He enjoys being touched. He is a "cuddle enthusiast" and often smiles when receiving attention. • Affinity with -Cats: Not tested -Dogs: Lulu has limited experience interacting with other dogs. He doesn't show much interest in them but could benefit from living with a similarly-sized companion. His social skills will develop as he gains more experience. -Adults/Kids: Lulu is affectionate and friendly with all people. • Shedding: 1-2 (1-10 scale) • Walking Manners: Lulu has not yet had proper walks. Once his adoption is confirmed, he will receive walking training, but continued practice with his adopter will be necessary. • Housetrained: Lulu frequently marks indoors and is still learning to use pads. More training is needed, and his adopter will need to continue this process. Once his adoption is confirmed, the team will continue pad training, but the adopter will need to maintain consistency with training. Baths/Brushing: He's calm during grooming, including nail trimming and brushing. • Separation Anxiety: None at the current facility • Barker or Quiet: Occasional demand barking (getting out of a crate, asking for more belly rubs, etc.) • Food Allergies: None • Likes & Dislikes: Likes People, treats, cuddles, and toys! • Health: Lulu has undergone surgery for both patellar luxation and is currently in rehabilitation. An ulcer in his left cornea is being treated with eye drops and is recovering.
