Story
Biggles may be paralyzed but that doesn’t stop him from living life to the fullest! We believe Biggles is around 5 years old and he originally came to us from Antigua after he was hit by a car. Biggles was so skinny when he arrived but he’s definitely gained some weight and muscle and now weighs 12 lbs. Taking on a paralyzed dog may be a little more work, but it is definitely so rewarding. Biggles has started to walk on his own and with some physical therapy he will just get stronger. Biggles also has a wheelchair that he can use when he is outside or for longer walks. Biggles absolutely LOVES the snow and it’s so cute to watch him play in it. Biggles does need to be expressed to urinate 3-4 times a day. This is actually very easy to do but can get a little messy. We will show any potential adopter exactly what needs to be done. He should have regular urine checks to ensure that he does not have a UTI. Biggles was heartworm positive but was treated for the disease months ago. He will still show as positive on any snap test for the next 6-8 months though. Biggles has been great with most of the dogs he’s met but he can get a little jealous of new dogs (especially intact males). But he eventually calms down. Biggles is great in a pen and isn’t very vocal. He loves to play with toys. Biggles is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and recently had full blood work and a urinalysis. Story
Meet Milo!!!  This special boy is a 4 1/2 year old, 11 lbs maltipoo.  He is the complete package.  This sweet boy is good with other dogs both big and small.  He is also good with cats.  Milo is an active little guy that has the best time running and playing with his foster brothers and sisters.  They all have the best time in their fenced in yard.  Milo really enjoys playing but he is also all about the most important thing--YOU!  Milo loves his foster mom.  If she sits down he is right there.  If she goes to the kitchen Milo is right behind her to see if he can help.  At bed time, you got it, trotting down the hall with you.  This great guy would be an excellent companion for a young single person or a great addition to a family with children 6 and older.  (to our knowledge he has not been around toddlers and we don't want to set him up for failure.)  Milo is so small that he could go everywhere with you that doggies are allowed even in the airplane on vacation!  This boy does not want to be left behind.  Milo is ready for a late new year celebration when he meets his forever family.  Hopefully that will be with you.  To be considered for Milo's frever family and to request an application please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcaast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Milo is currently in Tennessee and can be transported north upon adoption.)January 6, 2025, 2:04 pm

Adoption Donation   $ 599 Located: RI (Transportation costs included to the Northeast , plz ask for more details) Age: approximately 1 1/2 years Meet Silver! Silver is a sweet, loving little girl on the lookout for her forever home! At just 7 pounds and about a year and a half old, she’s the ultimate lap dog who adores snuggling up in your arms for hours. Whether she’s playing with her furry siblings, doing Zoomies in the backyard, having a blast with her toys, or simply curling up for some cozy cuddle time, Silver is always ready to bring joy and affection into your life. This adorable girl has a heart full of love and is ready to share it with the perfect family. If you're looking for a playful, loyal companion who will stay by your side and in your lap, Silver just might be the one! Silver is considered a high flight risk so a fenced in yard is preferred. She is also quite timid so a quieter home with her humans home more than not is best for her. She absolutely loves other small dogs and it has been wonderful seeing her coming out of her shell! Her personality is the sweetest! Could Silver be the perfect fit for you? Let’s help her find the loving home she deserves!  If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an application on our website  www.fohari.org  and email my foster parent for more information: marylovesdogs222@gmail.com .   Our adoption application can be found here: https://fohari.org/application/  Our Adoption Process:   Go to our website and select the animal you are interested in. ALL animals are in foster homes as we do NOT have a  shelter where you can visit. Some animals are in foster care in New England, and some are located in other states. If the initials following the animals name are a state, then that is the state where the animal is located. If initials are not a state, then those are the initials of the foster home outside of New England and you will not be able to meet the animal ahead of time. Complete our online application You will be contacted by phone or email by the foster parent  or a member of our adoption team and will have the opportunity to find out more about the animal, and ask any questions that you have to ensure the animal is a good fit for your household. If the animal is local, you can meet the animal, but you would not be able to take the dog home until you are approved to adopt.  From our end, we will check references and schedule a home visit.  If you live in an apartment, or a condo, we will need to verify permission to own the animal from your landlord or condo board. Please let your vet’s office and references know we will be contacting them. If your  references are positive, we will schedule a home visit by a volunteer. Please try to accommodate the home visit volunteer as most  have busy schedules. Delays in the visit will result in a delay in the adoption. Once you are approved, you will receive an e-mail with your  adoption contract attached. This e-mail will have details about pick up, the balance of the adoption fee that is owed, etc. Please email your signed & witnessed contract and pay your adoption fee in full, and for any animals located out of state, you will be contacted for details about transport to New England. Once you have paid your adoption fee in full and sent back your contract, you can make arrangement to pick up your animal from the foster home or from transport depending on where the animal is located. Please bring a harness, collar, ID tag and leash when you are picking up the dog unless otherwise instructed by the foster parent. Our extensive approval process is intended to ensure the best fit between our animals and adopters. Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA) reserves the right to deny any adoption application with or without disclosure of cause. Your adoption fee helps to cover the cost of all age appropriate vetting and transportation. FOHARI.ORG makes no explicit or implicit guarantees in reference to the health, temperament and/or the breed of the animal. The animal is adopted ‘as is’, and the adopter assumes all responsibility for treatment of any and all existing conditions or any other conditions of physical or temperament changes that may occur. FOHARI.ORG will provide the animal with the basic vaccines, heart worm test and sterilization of dogs and cats before adoption if the age and current health of the animal permits. While FOHARI.ORG makes every effort to place only healthy animals, FOHARI.ORG cannot guarantee the health of any animal, and shall not be held responsible for any medical expenses that may be incurred. Rescuer will provide information received from the veterinarian exam, observations on the temperament of the animal and a best guess of the breed. Friends of Homeless Animals Inc. Lukas is a 11 1/2 years old, he is been a very good dog all his life. He never bites no one, but the only thing is that how he is old he doesn’t like to be bothered by another dog. He used to have more space but we just moved and being so sad not to have enough space for him. He enjoys attention but he also loves to be alone.

Story
Bug is a conundrum. He's complex. He has layers...many, many, many layers. Like an onion. When Bug originally came to us, he was...not nice. It was an experience. We're pretty sure he was going through withdrawals because his regular supply of human souls had been cut off or something. He was 9lbs of fury and rage and when we tell you that it was ON SIGHT whenever this dog saw another living thing, it was ON SIGHT and he would come out swinging. Ya'll know the Chain Chomps from Super Mario? Yeah. That.Have you ever seen a furious, sentient cotton ball? You have now.It was like being haunted by a dollop of buttercream frosting that had been possessed by a vengeful Victorian ghost.Bug had one passion in life and it was fisticuffs. He had beef with everything. You, me, himself, the sky, our microchip scanner (RIP), the very fabric of the universe in general. Bug would fight God (Morgan Freeman circa Bruce Almighty specifically) and win.In true Jekyll and Hyde fashion, Bug now is the complete opposite.Bug now likes other dogs, likes people, and likes cats. He's really just 9lbs of cotton candy. We still wouldn't put him with kids under 12 juuuuust in case but, obviously, his prior behavior was fear based and should not be held against him in a court of law (or elsewhere). He's young, probably only around 1yo, and who hasn't made questionable decisions in their youth? He's an absolute STAR on a leash, would pick people over toys every chance he gets, and likes to show off by giving you his paw even when you didn't ask for it. Contrary to what he made us believe at first, we don't think Bug is REALLY a chaos gremlin. Pretty sure he's just a shih tzu mix.
