Story
LOCAL TN ADOPTION ONLY. Thanks to a generous donor, Buttons adoption fee has been sponsored! let me tell you about Button...she is a sweet little lap dog. That should be the end of the story, but it's not. She is 9.0 years old and was surrendered to a shelter after her owner passed away. Our rescue pulled her and she has been in a my home as a foster for 6 months. At this stage of her life, Button is looking to run the show, at least in terms of getting her needs met. She is not demanding. She will be every bit as sweet to you as you are to her. She loves to sit on your lap and be petted. However, she is not here for your shenanigans and will not participate in your tomfoolery. Mess with her feet or her butt and she will give you a warning snap. One is all you get. If you don't aggravate her, you'll never see her dark side. She was groomed recently (with a muzzle) and attempted to bite nearly the entire time. But once she was finished, and the muzzle came off, she was sweet as could be instantly. She does not hold a grudge. She is pee pad trained although she will sometimes go potty outside Senior dog Adoption Fee of $112.50 Includes Age-Appropriate Vaccinations (DA2PPV, Bordetella, Rabies), Deworming, Spay/Neuter, Microchip, Flea, Tick and Heartworm Treatment and Prevention, and Sheltering. Story
Adoption Donation   $ 499 Located: RI (Transportation costs included to the Northeast , plz ask for more details ) Age: approx. 9 years old Weight: 16 lbs Teddy is a wonderful 9 year old Maltipoo. He was in a family with his brother for his entire life, before being surrendered to rescue, through no fault of his own. Teddy has proven to be resilient and has adapted easily to his new circumstances.  He gets along with all dogs, he is a bit submissive. He loves to be as close as he can be to a person.  Teddy would do best in a home where someone is home the majority of the time. He would not do well being left alone for long periods of time. Teddy would love to be in a home with another mild mannered pup. He is very playful, and walks well on a leash. He is working on potty training outside, and will use a peepad. He is utd on all vaccines and is neutered.   If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an application on our website  www.fohari.org  and email my foster parent for more information:  furmama23@yahoo.com Please verify the location and readiness of this dog with us.  Because we save lives from various locations through out the United States, some dogs may not be in New England yet, nor ready for immediate adoption.   Our adoption application can be found here: https://fohari.org/application/  Our Adoption Process:   Go to our website and select the animal you are interested in. ALL animals are in foster homes as we do NOT have a  shelter where you can visit. Some animals are in foster care in New England, and some are located in other states. If the initials following the animals name are a state, then that is the state where the animal is located. If initials are not a state, then those are the initials of the foster home outside of New England and you will not be able to meet the animal ahead of time. Complete our online application You will be contacted by phone or email by the foster parent  or a member of our adoption team and will have the opportunity to find out more about the animal, and ask any questions that you have to ensure the animal is a good fit for your household. If the animal is local, you can meet the animal, but you would not be able to take the dog home until you are approved to adopt.  From our end, we will check references and schedule a home visit.  If you live in an apartment, or a condo, we will need to verify permission to own the animal from your landlord or condo board. Please let your vet’s office and references know we will be contacting them. If your  references are positive, we will schedule a home visit by a volunteer. Please try to accommodate the home visit volunteer as most  have busy schedules. Delays in the visit will result in a delay in the adoption. Once you are approved, you will receive an e-mail with your  adoption contract attached. This e-mail will have details about pick up, the balance of the adoption fee that is owed, etc. Please email your signed & witnessed contract and pay your adoption fee in full, and for any animals located out of state, you will be contacted for details about transport to New England. Once you have paid your adoption fee in full and sent back your contract, you can make arrangement to pick up your animal from the foster home or from transport depending on where the animal is located. Please bring a harness, collar, ID tag and leash when you are picking up the dog unless otherwise instructed by the foster parent. Our extensive approval process is intended to ensure the best fit between our animals and adopters. Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA) reserves the right to deny any adoption application with or without disclosure of cause. Your adoption fee helps to cover the cost of all age appropriate vetting and transportation. FOHARI.ORG makes no explicit or implicit guarantees in reference to the health, temperament and/or the breed of the animal. The animal is adopted ‘as is’, and the adopter assumes all responsibility for treatment of any and all existing conditions or any other conditions of physical or temperament changes that may occur. FOHARI.ORG will provide the animal with the basic vaccines, heart worm test and sterilization of dogs and cats before adoption if the age and current health of the animal permits. While FOHARI.ORG makes every effort to place only healthy animals, FOHARI.ORG cannot guarantee the health of any animal, and shall not be held responsible for any medical expenses that may be incurred. Rescuer will provide information received from the veterinarian exam, observations on the temperament of the animal and a best guess of the breed. Friends of Homeless Animals Inc. Story
Say hello to Frieda! She is a 6 year old Maltese/Chihuahua mix (throw in almost 25% Pug and you've got a super cool mutt per her DNA testing!). Frieda is a stout, stocky girl weighing in at 21lbs. This girl is a sweetheart and will make an excellent canine companion for a lucky family. Frieda is housetrained and has wonderful leash manners. She is very food motivated and this has made her training quite fun and rewarding. Frieda does not need a ton of exercise - she is quite content with a daily walk in addition to regular potty breaks. Frieda is not overly needy either - she happily seeks attention, pets, and praise, then is happy to lay on her bed quietly chewing her bone. Just don't be late for breakfast time or dinner time or Frieda will remind you with the song of her people! Frieda would be perfectly happy as the only dog in the home. She does not mind the company of other dogs though and may consider sharing her home with a friendly, calm dog (Frieda is not looking for a playmate, but rather a canine roommate/companion). A quiet, adult home or one with gentle teenagers would be a good match for Frieda as well. Frieda is listed as "special needs" because she is on 3 different medications: an anti-fungal, prozac, and a steroid. These 3 medications seem to be the long awaited secret formula for keeping Frieda free from skin and allergy exacerbations. We are also providing Frieda with a prescription diet of Royal Canin Potato and Rabbit plus her favorite wet food topper Instinct Limited Ingredient Diet Real Rabbit Recipe. She is a fiend for food and easily takes her medication mixed in with her wet food. We have found that twice monthly antifungal baths (which you can do at home) have also kept her coat and skin fresh and clean. Frieda used to receive a monthly Cytopoint injection (for allergies) but has proven to do just fine with longer breaks between injections. Cytopoint may just need to be something that an adopter will consider doing when allergy season is in full bloom. We are looking for an adopter who will maintain a relationship with a veterinarian of their choosing to ensure that Freida is getting regular check ups (at least twice a year) and recommended blood work. The cost of Frieda’s upkeep (medications and food included), can range between $120-200/month and this does not include the cost of veterinary exams or lab work. We hope this does not deter adopters from the opportunity to own the wonderful and rewarding dog that is Frieda. To learn more about how to make Frieda your next 4-legged family member, please contact Beth at beth.b@poainc.org AND complete an application ASAP at www.poainc.org.
