My adoption fee is $100 Here's what you need to know about me:I'm an active dog! I would love to go home with a family who can help me burn off energy with exercise, playtime, and outdoor adventures.I may jump and play rough. I don't mean to, I just get really excited when I play! It's recommended I meet any dogs or kids living in my new home before I'm adopted. I just want to make sure we all get along.I need a home without cats. We just don't get along - even if they don't mind me, I can't be in the same home with them.I'm not on the general adoption floor. You might not see me when you come to visit. So please speak to an adoption counselor if you'd like to meet me.I'm available for Trial Adoption! If you're interested in taking me home for 2 weeks before making a final decision, please email adoptions@southwesthumane.org. Primary Color: Black Weight: 84 Age: 1yrs 1mths 0wks

Story
Oklahoma is drowning in beautiful, healthy, adoptable dogs that are getting euthanized. I am trying to save as many as possible by sending them to states where people treat animals better. We have frequent transport options to all the locations listed below. I have dozens of dogs myself and I work with several other rescues and shelters in the area so I can find pretty much anything. Just fill out the application below with as much detail as possible about what you're looking for and your living situation and I can send you suggestions or find what you're looking for. Application: https://form.jotform.com/82677586784176 Some dogs are posted here on Petfinder, some are posted on Facebook (www.facebook.com/desideratarescue) There are so many dogs that aren't posted yet because it is quite time consuming and taking care of a lot of dogs and still rescuing other from death is a full time endeavor so I am making this 'catch-all' listing until I can catch up on posting everyone. As mentioned, I work with other rescues and shelters so there are many more breeds but here's a selection of the dogs I have in my rescue already: - border collie mixes young and puppy - adult, young, and puppy husky mixes - chocolate lab mix - kelpie mix puppy and adult - lab mix puppies and yellow/white lab mom - plott hound young - Heeler mix adult and puppy - pit bull mix puppy, young, adult - bulldog mix adult - shepherd mixes young - great pyrenees young - chihuahua adult - doodles young Check out videos on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@desideratarescue/shorts All dogs are good with other dogs and have been tested with cats so I can tell you if they are good with cats or not. Vetting: spayed/neutered (unless too small/young) microchipped, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dhpp vaccine x 2 or 3 depending on age, lepto vaccine x 2, dewormed several times, heartworm tested if old enough (6 months and older), on monthly heartworm prevention, on monthly flea and tick prevention. We have transport options from Oklahoma to: - Washington State (Kennewick, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Seattle/Tacoma) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton) - Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian) - Utah (Ogden) - Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie) - Illinois (Vandalia) - Indiana (Spiceland) - Ohio (Columbus) - Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh and Harrisburg) - New York (Buffalo and Albany) - Connecticut (Enfield) Adoption fees vary from $475 to $550 and INCLUDE all vetting listed above as well as the $250 cost of transport from Oklahoma. Dogs have to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations above. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take them in or they will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue/reviews Desiderata Rescue is Oklahoma Licensed Rescue #95

Story
For many years. a group of dedicated ladies kept the shelter in Holdenville, OK a no kill shelter. However, the city has now decided to kill all dogs that have been there more than 15 days, which is every single dog. Currently about 28 dogs. Transport to all the locations below is available: - Washington State (Kennewick, Spokane, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Seattle/Tacoma) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton) - Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian) - Utah (Ogden) - Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie) - Montana (Missoula) - Illinois (Vandalia, Springfield, Chicago) - Indiana (Spiceland, Burn Harbor) - Michigan (St Joseph) - Wisconsin (Madison, Wausau, Eau Claire) - Minnesota (Minneapolis/St Paul) - Iowa (Des Moines) - Ohio (Columbus) - Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh and Harrisburg) - New York (Buffalo and Albany) - Connecticut (Enfield) I have rescued and found homes for many dogs from this shelter and all have been fantastic dogs. The ladies that are trying to save these dogs are all elderly and work full time jobs and are not great with technology so getting information and pictures and videos on individual dogs has been a bit tedious. There's also not one point person that knows everything. That is why I have created the Facebook group below so they can all upload pictures in there and everything is one place. https://www.facebook.com/share/g/Rs2sHugVRnrkrLvm/ Please join the group and look what is posted and post what you are looking for and then 'the collective' can answer any questions you might have. I know this is an extra step but it was the only solution I could think of to get these dogs seen. All dogs are or will be fully vetted by HALO - Holdenville Animal Lovers Organization, the group of ladies that are trying to save these dogs, and I will arrange transport to your home state. Transport cost is $250 so that will be the adoption fee. We will cover any additional costs such as travel health certificates and microchips. All dogs are good with people and other dogs and some have been tested with cats. An application will have to be completed to ensure we are sending these babies to good homes: https://form.jotform.com/82677586784176 Thank you for your time, please save a life today.

Natalie and her 2 brothers grew up in a small shelter and were rescued by us when the police chief decided that all dogs that have been at the shelter for 15 days or more would need to be euthanized. Despite her past in the shelter, she is social, friendly, happy, listens well and just a big lover overall. She is great with all people she meets, other dogs of all sizes, and with cats. She is medium sized at 45 lbs and about 9 months old. She is currently still in Oklahoma where she was rescued but she can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. She has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. Story
Location: Tacoma, WA Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJqegyrgPVQ Murphy and his siblings were found as 3 week old puppies dumped at a lake in rural Oklahoma. They were taken to a shelter that was no kill at the time. But as they got older and didn't get adopted because there are just not enough homes in Oklahoma, their lives were at risk once again when the chief of police decided to turn the shelter into a kill shelter and ordered all dogs that have been at the shelter for more than 15 days to be euthanized. Our rescue stepped in and got Murphy and his siblings (and many others) out of the shelter and into out of state foster homes or directly to adopters. All of his siblings have been adopted but Murphy is still waiting for his happily ever after in a foster home in Tacoma. He is about a year old and said to be a lab and beagle mix. Everyone who adopted one of this litter absolutely adores them as they all have great personalities. Murphy is great with all people he meets, dogs of all sizes, and with cats. He is neutered, current on shots, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $300 which covers the cost of his transport that we paid from Oklahoma to Washington State and some of his vetting. Story
We rescued Braque (at 4 years old) from a rescue. A household member was Dx'd with Parkinson's Disease and Braque is too energetic and strong since my family member has fall risks now. We consider our 4 years with Braque as a 4-year foster. We'd keep him if we could. He's had a trained walker 5 days a week and has become less reactive (although he still gets excited at times when seeing other large dogs) and per the rescue org, he had bad experiences with men in his past, so he is still fearful when men approach. He gets along wonderfully with our two rescued pugs. Small dogs seem fine. He's very calm at home, but sudden loud noises and movements can set off barking. He hasn't bitten anyone, nor our pugs.

Story
Hi, I'm Boku! I was adopted on January 21st, when I was 7 months old from the Oregon Humane Society. I'm a sweet princess who just wants to play with my other dog and human friends and make everyone in my life happy. I am gentle, and obedient, and can also have fun with cats if they tolerate me. My roommate is a cat, his name is Cat and he used to scare me but now he doesn't mind me around so much although he gets annoyed when I eat his food. I get so excited when attention is paid to me but, I get sad when I'm ignored. I don't have a history of biting anyone or attacking other animals. Why would I? I'm a kind person. Socially, I thrive at dog daycare and dog parks. My non-aggressive playful nature makes me perfect for those places, but sometimes I might need my owner to step in and help me because mean dogs can bully me sometimes. I don't have any chronic health problems and have been to the vet regularly. Ask me anything else you want to know.
