Story
LOWER ADOPTION/TRANSPORT FEE $250 Say hello to Shadow, a 1 1/2-year-old male Lab/German Shepherd mix weighing around 55 pounds. He is house trained. Shadow is a very shy boy who has been with us at rescue since he was six months old. We asked a trainer for help with his shyness, and he had improved by leaps and bounds. He is more playful and confident. We're looking for a warm and caring family who will understand when he's timid and provide him with lots of love and reassurance. Shadow will benefit from a fenced-in yard. Though he's gentle natured and wouldn't hurt a fly, small children may startle him; therefore, a home with older children or adults only would be best. Shadow does well with other dogs and cats. His foster says of him, " Shadow K is an extraordinary dog, he just isn't yet sure how to show it. His heart is filled with love!" (Revision11/24/23, ME 10/7/23) LOWER ADOPTION/TRANSPORT FEE $250**It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. ** Adoption fee: $395 covers quarantine, shots, worming, medical records, spaying/neutering, microchip, and an Alabama State Health Certificate. Transport, if needed, is $160. We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip. We make every effort to arrive with healthy and minimally stressed dogs. Adoption fees for Hope dogs and those who have been at rescue for prolonged amounts of time are reduced to $150 plus a $100 transport fee, as notated in their listings.November 13, 2024, 5:20 pm

Story
LOWER ADOPTION/TRANSPORT FEE: $250 He was already named Bruno when he came to us, which sounds like a tough guy name to us, and Bruno Boy (we added the boy) is anything but!  A Lab/Catahoula mix, his 5-month-old puppy weight is between 20 and 25 pounds.  He will most likely grow to a mature weight of 30-35 pounds.  Not the biggest dog, not the smallest, but just right.  With his short and sleek coat of black and white, he's a handsome fellow, and he loves to be stroked.  We brought him out of the kill shelter and, once with us at rescue, we discovered that he loves dogs, kids, and his foster's cat!  No tough guy here! What a sweetie this pup is!  (posted 3/19/24, TN) LOWER ADOPTION/TRANSPORT FEE $250**It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. ** Adoption fee: $395 covers quarantine, shots, worming, medical records, spaying/neutering, microchip, and an Alabama State Health Certificate. LOWER FEE--$250 Saylor is a lovely Lab mix wearing a shiny black coat accented with pristine white. She is a bit over 1 year old, and she weighs between 40 and 50 pounds. Of course, each pound is sweeter than the next which tells you what kind of girl she is. A great girl to have around, she's good with other dogs, kids and her foster's cat. Saylor would be a great family dog!!! Because she's been with us for a while, Saylor's adoption/transport fee has been lowered to $250.00. There isn't anything wrong with her. Story
Hank is doing well with his mild case of Mega-E (megaesophagus). He gets in his Bailey Chair himself at mealtime. Hank loves to play, learning to catch a frisbee. He will be great at it, jumping very high in the air and succeeding in a catch! He likes to fetch balls and usually brings them back. He will need additional training in leash walking. Hank is housebroken, heartworm negative, neutered, and tolerates his crate. It is important to keep him in a safe area when you are not around, so he doesn't get into something he should not. He should mature to a medium sized good boy, under forty pounds. Handsome Hank is good with kids, cats, and dogs. Definitely need to keep kitty items out Hank's reach, as he finds everything tasty. This good boy is a real catch!   Hank and his 11 siblings were named after legendary country singers. This is their story: His mother, Mountain Mama, wandered up to a feral horse rescue campsite and quickly befriended the rescuers. She needed help! Soon after, she gave birth to a large litter of puppies. A few weeks later a wonderful thing happened - Mama and her 12 puppies were transferred to an SSR foster.  All of Hank's siblings have been adopted.  Hank has been diagnosed with megaesophagus or mega e. This diagnosis should not keep you from adopting this very sweet boy.  All that needs to be done is to have him sit up when he eats and for 10 minutes after. He is a champ at taking his pill at every meal, by syringe after they have been dissolved in water. An elevated water bowl works best for this pup. Hank is a very happy, playful, outgoing puppy.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  If you are an approved adopter and are interested in this dog, please let your case worker know. Story
Sweet Victoria was rescued from the life on TX streets by SSR. She has a great calm energy, but also has a very playful side. She loves to lean into you while standing beside you, all your lovins are appreciated. She enjoys keeping busy and going for walks, walking well on the leash. Victoria is a bit on the mischievous and independent side, a respectful happy girl too. She'd be great for an active outdoorsy family. She absolutely loves water, is extremely intelligent, and will alert you if something is outside. This girl prefers a slow introduction to other dogs until she feels safe and then will happily play play play. She is ok with cats and fine with children. She really likes her toys, gathering them daily.   Victoria is up to date on vaccinations, spayed, housebroken, and under forty pounds. She is heartworm positive, continued treatment will be covered by SSR. Victoria is now with a West Virginia foster. Story
Hello I'm Daisy! I had a rough start at life but I am looking forward to starting over. I am a shy girl but will warm up rather quickly and would do best in an adult only home. I am learning trust and how to "dog" and I just know there is a family out there looking for a friend. I'm willing to be that friend, I just ask that you can be patient with me and help me build my confidence. I do not like those kitty creatures and kids make me too nervous. I did however have an older calm male doggie bud that I was learning from. I was fostered by a professional trainer and I enjoyed playtime with some of her personal dogs, but she does say that I am dog selective and it will take the right dog and time and patience for me to be comfortable. If you are willing to put in the work, I am more than ready to work along side of you. Interested in adopting?
