Story
Meet Buddy - our 3yr old black lab who’s finally ready for adoption! Found as a stray in Portsmouth with virtually no hair and a severe skin infection, Buddy is proof just how resilient dogs are. Buddy is a big, lovable, and loyal boy who has been thriving in his foster home for a little over a month now. He’s estimated to be around 3 years old, though he may be a bit younger based on his playful, puppy-like energy. He currently weighs 68 pounds and may still have a little filling out left to do. Buddy is incredibly affectionate and loves being close to his people. He follows his foster mom around the house all day and happily curls up on the couch when it’s time to relax. He’s protective and will bark at strangers at first, but warms up once he realizes they’re friendly. He loves giving kisses and is still learning that jumping up when excited isn’t polite. He lives with four other dogs ranging from 1.5 to 7 years old and gets along wonderfully with all of them. His favorite playmate is the youngest female, and they love to play chase and roughhouse, but he’s respectful of the dogs who prefer calmer interactions. He also does well with the 5-year-old and 7-month-old children, though because he’s a big boy, supervision is important. Buddy loves to gallop around the yard and play. He’s very food motivated and is currently working on sit, leave it, and kennel, and he’s doing great. He is mostly house-trained and has started pawing at the back door to let his humans know when he needs to go out. He is kenneled at night and when they leave the house along with the other dogs and does great with a soft toy or a peanut butter filled kong to keep him busy. He does bark quite a bit when left alone and kenneled, so his future family should be prepared to continue working on that. He can also be a little mischievous, he will counter-surf and investigate anything that smells good, so structure and consistency will be important. Overall, Buddy is playful, protective, affectionate, and incredibly sweet. He would thrive with an active family, possibly another playful dog, and someone committed to continuing his training. He truly just wants to be near his people and will make a devoted companion for the right home. https://www.adoptapet.com/pet/47000711-windsor-virginia-labrador-retriever

Story
Hey, I’m Stormy—a three-year-old brindle beauty with a splash of white and a whole lot of energy. People say I look black at first glance, but up close, you’ll see the gorgeous mix of colors that make me one-of-a-kind. I’m 65 pounds of muscle, speed, and curiosity, and if you’ve got a ball to throw, I’ll chase it all day long. I’m fast, agile, and love sniffing out every corner of the yard. Birds? I’ll chase those too, just for fun. I’m potty trained, crate trained, and leash trained, though I’ll admit I’m still working on my manners when other dogs walk by. I’ve been training for a few months now—I passed basic and know several commands—but I’m still a bit of a nervous Nelly. I bark at people who pass by my house, and I’m not a fan of walking in the rain. Sometimes I’m just not in the mood for a walk at all, but I do love sunbathing and rolling around in the bed like it’s my personal playground. I would do best in a home with a fenced in yard. I’m not a snuggler or a lap dog—I like my space and independence—but I do love being near my people. I’m good with older kids, though I’m still working on not jumping up when I get excited. I am not good with other dogs. Cats? I haven’t met any yet, but I can be tested if needed. I’m spayed, fully vaccinated, heartworm negative, and currently living in Winston-Salem, NC. I can travel out of state if you’re the right fit—just note that a transport fee may apply. If you’re looking for a loyal, spirited companion who’ll keep you on your toes and fill your days with sunshine and personality, I’m ready to meet you. I’m not perfect, but I’m working hard—and I’ve got a whole lot of love to give.

Story
Hi, I’m Nishi—a handsome black Pit Bull/Lab mix with a heart as big as my 60-pound frame. I’m four years old, full of playful energy, and always ready for the next adventure. Whether it’s a hike through the woods, a jog around the neighborhood, or just a good old-fashioned game of fetch, I’m your go-to guy. And when the day winds down? I’m all about those cozy cuddles. I get along well with other dogs and would thrive with a high-energy playmate to keep up with my zest for life. I’d also be a great match for an active human who loves being outdoors and can give me the structure and consistency I need to be my best self. Because I can be a bit rambunctious, I’d do best in a home with older, teenage kids—I’d never want to accidentally knock over a little one with my enthusiasm. I haven’t been tested with cats yet, but if that’s important to you, just say the word and we can find out. I’m a smart cookie and eager to please—I already know how to sit, stay, and come. I’m potty trained, crate trained, and walk well on a leash, so I’m ready to hit the road with you. I’m also neutered, vaccinated, and heartworm negative—healthy and ready for my forever home. Right now, I’m being fostered in Colonial Heights, VA, but I can be transported out of state for the right match. Please note, there is a transport fee. If you’re looking for a loyal, fun-loving companion who is equal parts adventure buddy and cuddle bug, I might just be your perfect fit. Fill out an application and let’s start our journey together—I can’t wait to meet you!

Story
Hi there, I'm Boo, a sweet and fluffy mixed breed (maybe Jack Russel Terrier and lab mix) with white fur and tan spots. I'm about 4 years old and weigh 55 pounds. I'm looking for a loving and caring family who can give me a forever home. I would do well with children, but I recommend older kids because of my size and energy level. I have grown a community of love and support around me. One of my favorite things to do is to visit my friends at the pet store who practice my training (sit, paw, etc.) with me and give me yummy treats! I'm a happy boy who loves to play with other dogs all the time. I have not been cat-tested but can be if you’d like. I love toys and bringing them outside in the yard to play with. I do like to bury some of my toys too. I need some more training with walking on a leash because I get very excited on walks and pull a bit. If you look closely at my photos, you may notice that my front left foot is oddly bent. The vet thinks it was broken and simply healed this way. It doesn’t hurt me or slow me down at all. As you can see from my videos, I still have a great time playing. There really isn’t any need to do anything about it. I just wanted to let you know why my “high five” looks more like a sly five. I absolutely adore Zoomies, splashing around in my swimming pool, playing fetch, and getting belly rubs. There's nothing better than a good romp around followed by some quality couch-potato time. I'm neutered, vaccinated, and heartworm negative. I'm also potty and crate trained. I'm currently being fostered in Clemmons, NC, but can be transported to other states for my perfect match family. If you think you could be the one for me, please complete an application to let my rescue know you're interested in Boo. I can't wait to meet you and start our new journey together!
