Story
Meet the one and only Chad! This handsome fella is a 4-year-old Lab/Hound mix and let me tell you, he's got the looks and the talent to steal your heart in seconds. But don't let his charming appearance fool you, Chad hasn't had an easy life. He was found as a stray, covered in fleas and looking for a forever home to call his own. And boy does he deserve it! Now, let's talk about Chad's special talents. This pooch loves to sing! We're not talking about a howling wolf, but more like a soulful serenade that will make your heart melt. Trust us, you've never heard anything like it before. Chad's ideal home would be with a patient and loving family who doesn't mind his busy and energetic personality. This boy loves to play and stay active, so he'll keep you on your toes. Chad has done well with the dogs he has met at the shelter but as with any adoption a Meet and Greet is required for any dog friends he will be sharing a home with! Chad is neutered, we have microchipped and updated all vaccines including rabies. He has been given a dewormer and started on flea/tick prevention, heartworm tested (NEGATIVE) and given heartworm prevention. To Apply for Adoption/Foster please copy and paste the following link: https://orangecountyva.gov/158/Animal-Shelteris affectionate and curious nature. He's a happy-go-lucky dog who is just looking for a quiet and loving family to call his own. Reggie is neutered, we have microchipped and updated all vaccines including rabies. Story
Meet Curtis, this very handsome 4 year old Retriever was an owner surrendered along with several other dogs in the household due to them not being able to care for them anymore. Sweet Curtis is a shy boy who lacks confidence in himself. Curtis has spent most of his life being an outdoor dog and being a good mentor to the younger dogs at the house. Curtis blossoms when he is around other dogs and you can see him relax and come out of his shell. He will need a dog friend in the home to help him be confident and learn to trust how amazing being part of a loving home can be! Curtis may be best in a home with no cats as he seems a bit too interested in them! Curtis will need time to decompress and will need patience as he settles into the day to day household routine and potty schedules. Curtis did previously live and interact with children of various ages. Curtis is neutered, we have microchipped and updated all vaccines including rabies. He has been given a dewormer and started on flea/tick prevention, heartworm tested (NEGATIVE) and given heartworm prevention. Story
Winnie is a sweet, two-year-old yellow Lab mix with a heart full of love and determination. She came to us from North Carolina after a traumatic experience—she was shot near her right hip, causing a thoracic spinal injury. While the bullet could not be fully removed through surgery, Winnie is a fighter, and despite her physical challenges, she remains full of life and joy. Due to her spinal injury, Winnie will ultimately face paralysis as she ages, and she also has some urinary incontinence. She does have difficulty walking and often paces throughout the day, but this doesn’t stop her from being the best girl. Her spirit is unwavering, and her loving nature shines through despite everything she’s been through. Winnie is a young dog with a ton of heart, and she has so much life left to live. She is looking for a home where she can receive the care and patience she needs as she adjusts to her disability. It’s important that Winnie goes to a home without other dogs, as she can be a little excitable and will need a calm environment to help her avoid further strain on her injuries. She will also require training to help her manage her pacing and energy levels so she doesn’t overexert herself. Winnie hasn’t had the fair start in life that she deserves, but she’s ready to give all the love she has to someone who will accept her for who she is. She’s not defined by her limitations; rather, she’s a testament to resilience and hope. Winnie is in need of a family who can embrace her disabilities and love her for her sweet, spunky spirit. If you’re an experienced dog owner who is looking for a special companion with a heart of gold, Winnie might be the one for you.
