Story
Meet Jack: Your Future Furry Best Friend! Jack is a charming Foxhound and Beagle mix, recently surrendered because his high energy levels were too much for the toddlers in his previous home. This handsome boy may look like a black lab, but he's a unique and beautiful blend of two spirited breeds. Personality and Energy Jack is full of energy and love, making him a perfect fit for an active home with older or no children. He absolutely adores other dogs and thrives in their company. Jack is incredibly intelligent and knows a variety of commands, including sit, shake, look at me, touch, and spin. His favorite pastime is being outdoors, chasing squirrels and birds, so a fenced-in yard or an active family is ideal to help him burn off his abundant energy. Perfect Companion After a day of outdoor fun, Jack loves nothing more than to cuddle up on the couch or in bed with his people. He bonds quickly and deeply, making him a loyal and loving companion. Jack is a perfect gentleman when it comes to waiting for his food, displaying excellent manners. Training and Behavior Jack walks beautifully on a leash with his head halter but still needs a bit of work with a harness. He does have a typical hound dog trait of resource guarding his food from other dogs, though he's perfectly comfortable with his humans. Ideal Home Jack would thrive in an active household where he can get plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. He needs a family that can match his energy and provide the love and companionship he craves. If you're looking for a loyal, energetic, and loving companion who will keep you on your toes and cuddle up with you at the end of the day, Jack is the perfect match for you. Come meet him and see how quickly he'll become your new best friend!

Story
Lady's story: After spending over a year in a shelter, Lady would love nothing more than to spend her nights snuggled up with just her people while getting belly rubs and giving kisses.   Having been born and lived for 3 years on the streets of Puerto Rico, Lady has had her share of hardship. This playful social butterfly would love it if her new owners could be kind enough to show her how indoor dogs live.   Despite her having no training foundation, Lady has quickly learned many commands, such as sit, down, come, stay and paw.   Lady is a busy bee, who loves to play, but can also be extremely gentle when around small kids. Loves people of all ages, genders and size. She truly is a people person and would be your constant companion.   Lady would be the perfect companion for someone who is active, as she has oodles of bubbly energy! She would make a great jogging or hiking buddy. Are you the perfect forever home for Lady? Story
Winkle has a lot of energy and needs a fair amount of exercise. He is playful and enjoys active play. He loves to retrieve balls in the yard as well as chase squirrels. He is very sweet and loving. Winkle knows sit, stay, down, off and come. He also will sit patiently and give you each paw while you clean or dry his feat. He is housebroken and crate trained and does very well in his crate overnight. Winkle is apprehensive when new people first enter the home and needs a patient person who will work with him. He adjusts quickly after his initial barking reaction. He walks well on the leash but needs coaxing to get in the car and is making good progress. He needs to be in a quieter home without children or teens running around and a fenced yard to run around and play in. He is very patient with other dogs, and would do very well in a home with another active dog. He was in a home with cats and did very well. Thank you for your interest in Winkle! Please visit www.hart90.org/petdetail.aspx?ID=14932 to get the most up-to-date and accurate information on this pet, to email the contact person listed for more information and how to meet Winkle, or to submit an online application. Story
Wally is an affectionate and energetic pup who has been long searching for his furever family! His foster mom says that Wally is one of her absolute favorites after fostering dogs for over 10 years. That's because this boy is full of personality and sure to put a smile on your face. Some of Wally's favorite things to do are curl up next to his people and chill, and the other is playtime. Wally takes a few days to warm up to new dogs but once he does, he is all about romping around with his canine companions. He currently lives in foster with 4 other dogs, both large and small. Surprisingly his boss is a 10-pound Chi mix. He is housetrained, crate trained, and an all-around good boy in the home. His leash manners are a work in progress, and he can be a little quirky at times (like the time he was scared of the Halloween ghost decoration at the vet's office), but this just adds to his unique Wally-ness. Wally is best suited in an experienced home that can provide him with structure, and one where he can bond over training techniques and help him understand that silly things like ghost decorations aren't scarry. He is ready to give and receive lots and lots of unconditional love. Apply to adopt Wally! Thank you for your interest in Wally! Please visit www.hart90.org/petdetail.aspx?ID=16607 to get the most up-to-date and accurate information on this pet, to email the contact person listed for more information and how to meet Wally, or to submit an online application. Story
We thank Northside Veterinary Clinic in Arlington for their generous sponsorship of Snoop Dog which means his adoption fee is WAIVED!! You can learn more about them at http://www.northsidevetclinic.com/index.html Meet Snoop Dog!! ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Snoop has been with us for 2 and a half years and would love a place to call home. Snoop is a VERY affectionate boy and wants to give all the kisses and take all the love. He would love to get pets all day long! Snoop Dog is SO smart and knows some really cool commands, like sit, down, paw, speak, wait, and look. He aims to please! He LOVES to go on walks and smell everything. He is also down to just lay on the couch and play with his toys. As long as he is with his people he is happy! He enjoys making a little nest with his blankets and curling up taking a nap. Snoop is unfortunately known to resource guard food and toys. Resource guarding is a common behavior among dogs that can be managed with patience and understanding by the right adopter. He does best when people and other dogs respect his space while eating. We have worked on trading with him as well as the “leave it” command. We also have resources to help his future family learn how to manage his resource guarding. Poor Snoop suffered from separation anxiety in his previous foster home so he comes with a FREE specific crate when he is adopted. Snoop will need someone to help him continue to improve with this. Due to his separation anxiety, Snoop is not suited for an apartment home. We know the right person is out there for him to take him out of the chaos of the shelter environment. Come meet Snoop and see for yourself how much love he has to offer. KNOWN WITH DOGS: Snoop Dog is dog selective and prefers to meet other dogs slowly on a walk before he's ready to engage in play. This may take some time. He likes to roughhouse when playing and has several dog friends at the farm that he does great with! We recommend he goes to a home with no dogs because of his resource guarding tendencies KNOWN WITH CATS: unknown, but we recommend no cats KNOWN WITH KIDS: Snoop Dog would do best in an adult only home. KNOWN COMMANDS: Sit, down, paw, speak, wait, look, and spin. He is also working on 'Leave it' and 'Walk away' KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING &/OR CRATING: Snoop Dog has some separation anxiety that he struggles with but has been managed well with medication, as needed. KNOWN LIKES: People and attention KNOWN DISLIKES: Kennel life. Others around while he is eating. Snoop Dog has become a little depressed since being in the shelter. He is more than ready to find a home! ___________________________________ If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our dog adoption questionnaire and e-mail any questions to: trailshomefarm@homewardtrails.org PLEASE VISIT THIS WEBSITE TO FIND THE ADOPTION QUESTIONNAIRE: http://www.homewardtrails.org/adopt-a-pet/adoption-forms/ LOCATION: Trails Home Farm, 2581 Winchester Rd, Delaplane, VA ADOPTION COORDINATOR: Trails Home Farm Staff HOW TO MEET THIS ANIMAL: Any dog at the Trails Home Farm or in foster require an appointment for any approved adopter to have a meet and greet.
