Story
Hank is so small and cute, shelter volunteer thought he was a puppy! See video! Hank is perfect, he's very sweet, loves people and dog friendly. He about 2 yrs old, has a dark brindle/black color short coat, with pretty hazel eyes. He was very thin, anemic (due to worms), and run down when he first arrived, but he's completely vetted and now recovered from his anemia. He's gained weight, up to 40 lbs now, he's active and playful, loves everyone and loves attention. He's good with other dogs, and would enjoy a play buddy his own size. He likes to play with his food bowl but could substitute other play toys as well. He's good on a leash and likes to go fast, he'd do really well in a fenced in yard where he can run and exercise. He's a little too intense with cats, so not recommended. He is good with other dogs, and would like a playmate.

Story
Penny was fortunate to find a wonderful, loving foster home a few months ago, which has given us the chance to learn more about what makes her so very special! While we knew she enjoyed playing with other dogs, we’ve discovered Penny has lots of other interests! For instance, she's is a big fan of watching the morning news (or at least being next to someone who is watching it!), cozying up by the fireplace, snuggling on the bed (or couch...or anywhere soft & comfy!) and even enjoyss helping with the farm chores (though she does have a tendency to goof off a little!). After having the opportunity to spend time in boarding and foster with people who have shown her love and kindness, Penny has blossomed into a happy, playful dog. And while she is still a little shy, she bonds tightly to people when given the time and patience she needs to trust. If you're looking for a best friend for life, Penny just might be perfect for you! Apply to adopt or foster today at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt

Story
Butter has always been a special boy, but until recently, his life was spent on a chain. As a community pet, we visited him often, and when his owner decided he deserved more, they made the loving choice to let DDBBR give him a fresh start. At just a year and a half old, Butter is now experiencing life indoors for the very first time in his foster home—and he’s soaking up every second of it. He’s learning the ropes of home life, making friends with other dogs, and showing his foster family just how grateful he is for this second chance. We can’t wait to see how Butter continues to blossom as he settles into his new life. One thing’s for sure—his future is looking brighter than ever!

Story
Chase loves his people. He is a very smart energetic dog that loves to please his people. He is used to being inside and sleeping on a dog bed in his owners room at night, or on the coach. He is also used to a large property to roam. We have recently moved to the city and tried to bring him but it has been very difficult to meet his needs with our busy schedules and our limited land. He is an escape artist who does not like to be crated or kenneled but does very well indoors for long periods of time with a window to look for his returning owners. He loves to play and run, does not generally bark or jump unless provoked. He is good with children. We have chickens and cats and he is fairly restrained but will chase them at times. We would love to find a family that will love on him like we do and he needs!

Story
Ted Mosby – A True Survivor Looking for His Happy Ending For 6.5 years, Ted Mosby knew nothing but the four walls of a shelter. Born there and left behind, he coped with the stress and endless boredom the only way he could—by spinning and attacking his own feet uncontrollably. When Humane World for Animals stepped in to save him, they faced an agonizing question: Was he even saveable? Despite their best efforts, Ted couldn’t stop. He would spin for 18 hours a day, even on medication. The heartbreaking reality was setting in… until they took a leap of faith and sent him to us at Green Dogs Unleashed, sponsoring his intensive behavior modification. Four weeks. Endless patience. Constant positive reinforcement. And today? Ted is off medication and rarely spins at all. He’s learning how to be a dog—how to enjoy the world, trust people, and take in life at a calmer pace. Now, Ted is finally ready for his next chapter. He’s looking for a home that understands his past but is ready to focus on his future. He thrives on routine and would love a family that enjoys leash walks. He’s active but not high-strung, adores kids, and he enjoys other dogs his size, but is a little excited around cats. After everything Ted has been through, he deserves a home that will continue to support his journey with love and patience. Could that be you? At Green Dogs Unleashed (GDU), we are dedicated to ensuring the successful placement of our dogs in loving, permanent homes. Over the years, we have seen an increasing number of returns due to behavioral issues that could have been prevented with the right support. A significant percentage of these returns involve out-of-area clients or those who have not completed training with GDU. To address this, positive reinforcement training with Green Dogs Unleashed is required as a condition for all adoptions. Preference for this dog will be given to adopters who commit to signing up for and completing our six-week Canine 101 training class in person at our headquarters in Troy, VA. Secondary consideration will be given to a limited number of out-of-area adopters who agree to complete one private lesson with GDU, either in person or virtually, and attend a pre-approved positive reinforcement training class in their area. At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption. But please know that we may be working on multiple applications already, and any one of them could be approved at any time. Please READ THIS ENTIRE DESCRIPTION and complete an adoption application, if you are interested in any of our animals. Application at www.greendogsunleashed.org If you send an inquiry to ask if the dog is still available, or just tell us you are interested, your inquiry will not be answered. FILL OUT AN APPLICATION. We can do NOTHING without that. No, we cannot tell you if he would be a match for your family without seeing an application. PLEASE KEEP READING for info. */*/* PLEASE NOTE: The first communication you will receive after completing an application will be an email response, which will have instructions on how to proceed. Please check your inbox AND spam folders for the next 48 hours, for this email. We will not begin processing an application without the information requested in that email. */*/* We are happy to consider applicants from out of state on most dogs. Please read the description to see if this dog is an exception. If the applicant is approved to adopt, they MUST be willing to come to our location in Troy, VA, for a meet and greet. If all parties agree that the pup and family are a good fit, they would take the pup home at that time. For more information about our mission and for an APPLICATION for adoption, please go to www.greendogsunleashed.com. GDU does ask a minimum adoption fee of $400.00. This does not even come close to covering all expenses created by animals while in rescue. We are funded solely by the angels and volunteers willing to donate time and finances. This minimum fee includes DAPP, rabies if age appropriate,, heartworm test and preventative, if age appropriate, and flea and tick treatment, as well as neutering or spaying, if the animal is medically sound to undergo surgery. In an attempt to avoid tummy upset from a sudden change of food, the foster family may include a small, transitional bag of the food the dog/puppy has been eating. And if the dog/puppy has grown attached to a special item (like a toy or blanket), they may send that along, as well. */*/* Young puppies will receive age-appropriate vaccines, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Adopters may be required to provide additional puppy boosters and at 16 weeks of age, a rabies vaccine. Future annual vaccines, testing and monthly heartworm preventative are REQUIRED, and will be the financial responsibility of the adopter. *****Due to the sheer number of animals and applications in our program, coupled with a limited number of volunteers, applicants MUST have patience as we process applications.   If you do not hear back from us, the animal may have been adopted.   We strive to let people know but sadly cannot offer reasons for denial beyond that.  Any harassment of our volunteers will go unanswered and we will simply block you.   Our volunteers spend their time working hard to ensure the very best for each animal.   Please remember the animal, not the applicant, is our client.*****  ##2279726##
