*New Behavior Notes* Meet Kano, a shy but endearing pup with soft eyes and a gentle demeanor. Though he may initially tuck his tail and take his time, He is very responsive to a kind, patient approach. Kano is easily leashed and exits his kennel smoothly. This fella appreciates neck rubs and will push his head into your hand for affection. Once he feels secure, he becomes playful and enjoys showing off his "sit command. With patience and love, Kano is ready to thrive in a caring home. Eligible for rescue, foster, and adoption. Meet Kano at ACCT Philly any day of the week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or email foster@acctphilly.org to express interest in fostering him. He was such a perfect boy! We went on a hike at the Wissahickon, and while he is extremely strong, he was quite easy on the leash and didn't pull too much. He was non-reactive to other dogs and people that passed by on the trail, and he stayed close to my side. I expected him to be jumpy and excitable but he was mostly well-behaved or easily redirected, and he did great in the car. After the hike, he enjoyed a McDonald's cheeseburger and a big bowl of water. He cried a bit when I returned him to the shelter, which was heartbreaking but shows how quickly he gets attached and loves people. Here are a few pics of our adventure. Thanks for allowing me to spend time with him! Hope he finds his perfect match **new** 9/2/24 per volunteer: kano is a super sweet boy! Getting him out of his kennel was fine! He was easy to leash and walked pretty well on leash with minimal pulling. In the run he pretty much stayed with me the whole time. He allowed all petting without an issue. When returning to kennel he walked well back but I did have to try a few times to get him in his kennel as he did try to run back out a few times. After a few tries he went in and stayed in without a problem. 8/29/24 volunteer notes: Kano- what a stunner!! Was very easy to get out of kennel. Although a large dog, not difficult to handle at all. Definitely house trained, went to the bathroom multiple times immediately outside. Had a really cute fence me with another dog Magic Mike. He was slow to approach but then he was doing lots of play bows. He's really affectionate and rubs into you and loves getting ear scratches. Wasn't too interested in treats. He did hesitate to go back into kennel and would approach it, and then pivot away. If you are patient, he eventually goes in but it's best to use the clip method since he likes to jump in and then out of kennel. Per staff on 8/29: Kano came out for activity time today. Kano is a very wild and wiggly boy who loves to play. He can get very jumpy but calms himself down. He is a very goofy boy, hopping around and pretending to play -- doing the cutest tippy taps. He loves to play and loves cuddles, wagging his tail all the time and pretending to mouth hands. Kano is very respectful and tries his best to listen. He is overall a perfect goofy boy!!! BEHAVIOR EVALUATION (8/26): KNOWN HISTORY: Stray KENNEL PRESENTATION: Kano was peering out the crack of the kennel door and gave the handler some tucked wags and semi soft eyes. He was easily leashed and came out of his kennel perfectly. Kano did slightly whip his head back when surprised with a small touch LEASH SKILLS: Pulls moderately HANDLING: Kano gets pretty uncomfortable and flincgy with touch. When he handler spoke to him in a baby voice and called him over he pushed his body on them and began tippy tapping and gave some small wags. He loves neck rubs and will push his head into your hand. Kano needs a slow approach and time to adjust. He is very tolerant to touch but pull away and avoides contact around his mouth. Kano knows sit and can become very playful once hes comfortable PLAY Very minimal interest, ran around for a little with the handler before stopping TOYS: No interest- very scared (tucked tail and moves away) COLOR LEVEL & ANY RECOMMENDATIONS: Gold ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. Story
DJ Fizzy is a sweet, affectionate, playful and mild mannered 14 month old lab retriever mix. He is the perfect size at 35lbs and won’t get much bigger. DJ loves to give kisses and cuddles all day to his family, caregivers and people he has really gotten to know. He has been wonderful with our family including our 9 year old son. He is anxious around new people, including children he does not know well. He needs an experienced adopter in a home without a lot of children and new people coming in and out. DJ Fizzy responds well to training and already knows name recall, sit, stay and other basics. He is athletic, will love long walks and adventures. He is well trained in a leash. Overall, he has a great, sunny, mellow energy around the house. He sleeps well at night and is house trained. Fizz loves other dogs. He’s done great with dog friends, dog daycare and the dog park. He would make a good dog sibling. UTD on all vaccinations.

Story
Meet Chase! Your new snuggle buddy! Chase is about 8 years old, a super loving, smart, loyal good-boy. He loves running around outside, playing with toys, and gets along well with other dogs sharing toys, water bowls, and eating together. He is very keen to other dogs body language and responds appropriately when necessary. Chase has had a hard life. For the first 6-7 years of his life, he was unfortunately locked in a crate and ignored for most hours of the day, everyday, and thus was not taken care of or loved. While he has trauma and developmental issues from this period of his life, he has come a long way in recovering and growing into his new lease on life. He is partially blind, affecting his spacial awareness and increasing anxiety at night outside. He also takes medication for nerves and anxiety. He needs someone who is capable and sympathetic towards his special needs, with a large amount of space outside to run around, and plenty of cuddling!

Story
PA Kennel License #5254Wags RescueSouthampton Pa 18966 8/17/24 Kelce has been living the dream since October 2023. Since then, we have discovered Kelce loves every person she meets (not so much every dog, or kiddos under 10); you can't escape the lean - she'll lean in, or sit on you, so you can't stop petting or scratching her belly; she is strong on the leash simply because she can't wait to get to the next block; and LOVES car rides, and a good game of keep away, but she's doing the keep away! 10/20/23 Kelce, a Wags alumna from 2017, was sadly returned to us when her human family started to grow. As a young pup, Kelce was adopted by a couple that did not have children at the time. As Kelce's family began to grow, they say she became anxious and nervous around the babies. So, they made the difficult decision to return Kelce so she could find the perfect family that fits her quirkiness. Happy to report, after a few days with her fosters, and no longer searching for her humans, Kelce started warming up to and playing with resident dogs. Kelce is a lab mix; up to date with her vaccines; weighs 75# (though we are working on losing a few with long walks); walks well on the leash (though is dying to catch a squirrel!); spayed; and starves for attention. This big girl would be best suited in a family with older children or no children. Do you have room on your couch for Kelce to curl up next to you at the end of the day? 9/12/23 Kelce is a 5 year old lab mix who was living the life until after 5 years her people brought one of those tiny things home that smells like baby powder and cries a lot at night. I just would prefer a home with out such creatures. I am well behaved and a terrific dog. Please visit our website www.wagsrescue.org to learn more about this amazing dog and Wags Rescue.

I want to talk about a sweet little pup named Hasta La Vista. This shy little girl made her trip from North Carolina to Pennsylvania about a week ago. She is flourishing in her current foster home. She loves other dogs and would do best when adopted in a home with another dog. She is learning from her foster siblings every day and would do best for her new families dog to show her the ropes. She is spayed and thought to be a 12 week lab mix. She has a beautiful shiny black coat and gentle eyes. La Vista loves to play and run in the yard, loves to give kisses and snuggles on the couch. She is working hard on house and crate training. Apply now to meet your new best friend. We cant wait for you to see what we see in her. She is a pup that makes us smile. Story
PA Kennel License #5254Wags Rescue & ReferralSouthampton Pa 18966 04/26/24 Update Echo had to have a second unexpected surgery. She had a rough couple of days, but is doing so much better. This sweet baby is a little fighter. She has a follow up appointment next week. Echo is a bit shy when she first meets you, but warms up quickly. She absolutely loves other dogs; big or small. She enjoys playing with toys and loves loves a soft spot to lay. Her tongue hangs outs a little which truly just adds to her cuteness. She is recovering well and we will add updates about her journey. 04/13/2024 Meet Echo. She is a sweet, loving, gentle 3 1/2 month old puppy who came to Wags Rescue three weeks ago from our partner rescue in Georgia. While Echo was in the shelter down South, she was attacked by a bigger dog and suffered an injury to her jaw. It was thought that she had healed, but after her arrival in PA, she was examined by a vet who recommended that she be seen by a veterinary dental specialist. Her x-rays and examination revealed that her injury would require jaw reconstructive surgery. She is currently in a loving foster home awaiting her upcoming surgery. While she is trying her best to live as a puppy, she has difficulty eating and drinking, as she is only able to open her little mouth about an inch. Here's where we need your help. Echo's surgery is expected to possibly cost $8,000. Wags is a non-profit, your donations can help us cover the cost of this surgery that will allow Echo to use her jaw properly again, improve the quality of her life, and help her to live many happy years pain free. If you would like to help WAGS to help Echo and other dogs like her, please go to www.wagsrescue.organd click our donate button. Every little bit helps.
