Story
Some dogs pass through your life. Others make themselves part of your story. Perry is the second kind. At three years old, this Lab mix has already figured out what matters most: friendship, fun, and staying close to his people. He’s the kind of dog who can be in the middle of a joyful romp with his canine buddies, then suddenly pause, trot back over, and gently check in with you like, “You good? Want to join?” That’s Perry in a nutshell—equal parts social butterfly and loyal sidekick. He’s 58 pounds of warmth wrapped in the softest, sweetest face you’ll ever see, and he uses it to full advantage when requesting his favorite thing in the world: belly rubs. Not casually, not occasionally—professionally. Perry is a true connoisseur, fully committed to the art of soaking up affection. Beyond his charm, he’s got the brains to match. Perry is vaccinated, crate trained, microchipped, and walks beautifully on a leash. He already knows “sit” and “leave it,” and he’s the kind of quick learner who seems genuinely proud of himself every time he gets it right. You can almost see the gears turning as he picks up new skills, eager to understand and please. He’s wonderfully dog-friendly and enjoys getting out and about, but he’s just as happy making sure his people are close by and part of whatever he’s doing. That steady, people-first nature makes him an easy dog to live with and an even easier dog to love. There’s something special about a dog who balances playfulness with genuine connection, independence with affection. Perry has that balance. He doesn’t just exist in your home—he becomes part of your rhythm, your routine, your everyday joy. If you’re interested in meeting Perry, fill out a no-obligation adoption application at www.AlmostHomeDogRescueNC.com and one of our adoption coaches will reach out to tell you even more about how awesome he is. You can also follow along on Facebook @AlmostHomeDogRescueNC for updates on Perry and other adoptable pups!

Story
Meet Feller & Dixie — A Bonded Pair Ready for Their Forever Home! Feller and Dixie are a sweet, resilient duo looking for a patient, loving home where they can continue to blossom—together. Both spent much of their early lives outdoors in the same environment, with very little exposure to the world. Since coming into rescue, they’ve been quietly and courageously learning what it means to feel safe, loved, and part of a family—and their progress has been truly special to watch. Feller might be shy at first, but once he warms up, he’s a gentle, affectionate sweetheart with a playful side. He’s been gaining confidence every day and is starting to discover just how exciting life can be—especially when treats are involved (bacon and beef are his absolute favorites!). He does great with other dogs and continues to build confidence through calm, positive interactions. Dixie is a 1-year-old, 35 lb Lab Mix with the softest eyes and a heart full of quiet courage. She’s been learning to trust the world around her—discovering toys, enjoying treats, and even mastering leash walking, happily staying right by your side. While she can still feel unsure in new situations, she looks to her person—and to Feller—for reassurance, and the trust she builds is incredibly meaningful. Their bond is the heart of their story. Dixie thrives with a calm, confident companion, and Feller provides her with a sense of comfort and security that helps her continue to grow. Because of this, they must be adopted together. With each other, they feel safe, supported, and ready to keep becoming the wonderful dogs they’re meant to be. They are both wonderful with cats and other dogs (if given a proper introduction) and are house-trained, crate-trained, vaccinated and microchipped. Feller and Dixie would do best in a quiet, patient home in a rural or low-traffic setting with a securely fenced yard, where they can take their time building confidence and exploring the world at their own pace. They aren’t “hit the ground running” dogs—they’re “watch us bloom” dogs. The kind that will reward your patience with a deep, lasting bond and moments that mean everything. If you have a calm, quiet home and a gentle heart, and you’re ready to give these two the time and love they deserve, Feller and Dixie will give you so much in return. Ready to meet Feller & Dixie? Submit a no-obligation adoption application at www.AlmostHomeDogRescueNC.com, and one of our adoption coaches will reach out to tell you more about this special pair. Follow us on Facebook @AlmostHomeDogRescueNC for updates on Feller, Dixie, and other adoptable pups—just be warned, it’s hard not to fall in love!

We adopted him about 6 weeks ago, and he has learned basic training commands quickly and listens really well!Buddy is very loyal and will love you so deeply! He is a big baby who simply just enjoys being in your company. Buddy will make you fall in love with him instantly and will be a wonderful pet to the right home. Here are important things to know about Buddy:-He is neutered.-He needs to be the only dog in the home.-He can get along with some dogs, but has been aggressive towards others. It is best to have him not interact with other dogs.-He can be protective of your home, but once introductions are done properly outside of your house, he will snuggle all your human guests and warm right up!-When we adopted him, he was extremely neglected and starved, but he is now a fed, happy boy!-Buddy is still learning and seemed to have little socialization before; he will need your help in training him further!Contact me today at travis.picquet@gmail.com to learn more about or meet sweet Buddy! Story
Meet Tiana, a 3-month-old, 8-lb sweetheart with the softest eyes and the gentlest little heart.

Tiana was dumped alongside a busy road in Puerto Rico with her siblings, where cars sped by constantly. Heartbreakingly, one of the puppies was struck and didn’t survive. Tiana and her sister stayed close to the area, waiting quietly for someone to notice them — and thankfully, help finally came.

Even after such a traumatic start, Tiana is incredibly loving and sweet. She has a calm, affectionate personality and absolutely adores being held close and showered with attention. She’s the kind of puppy who leans into you for comfort and looks at you with complete trust.

Tiana is currently in Puerto Rico and will be sent to her forever home as soon as it is found (or there is a foster offer). This is included in her adoption fee!

Tiana is smart, gentle, and so deserving of a forever home where she’ll never have to struggle for safety again. After everything she’s been through, she’s ready for a life filled with soft beds, full bellies, and endless love.
