Story
Cooper is a handsome and goofy 4-year-old, 50lb lab/beagle mix with adorable short legs and a tail that curls into a circle. He was rescued from Tulum Mexico as young pup. He is very active, playful and loves being outside and going on walks. Cooper is very intelligent and learns commands quickly. He likes mental stimulation games like training activities or scent work and would love to be given “jobs”. He also loves to curl up on the couch or sit on your lap after a walk. Cooper will make an incredible companion for a loving and active family who can give him lots of attention, exercise and love. We require adopters to have a safe and secure backyard - not electric or Fido fences as they are not as safe at containing dogs or keeping other animals or people out. For these reasons we do not adopt to homes with electric or Fido fencing. The adoption fee is $500, which includes age appropriate vaccines, microchip, monthly flea, tick and heart worm preventatives at time of adoption. Cooper is neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped.

Story
Peter is a sweet, resilient pup with a heart full of love. Peter came to ARF from Louisiana alongside his sister, Mary, after the two were abandoned at a church. Thanks to our rescue partner FAUNA and the support of the Bissell Pet Foundation, Peter is now safe and on his way to a brighter future. When Peter arrived, he was found to have a fractured elbow. He’s been healing well and continues to make great progress, but he will need a family committed to giving him a little extra care along the way. With proper support, including supplements and mindful activity, Peter is expected to grow into a strong, happy boy. Despite his rough start, Peter is incredibly loving and eager to bond. He enjoys playtime, cuddles, and being close to his people. If you’re looking for a loyal companion and are ready to give a special pup the care he deserves, Peter will reward you with endless love.

Story
Gumbo is a sensitive, soulful pup who’s just waiting for the right person to see how special he truly is. Gumbo originally came to us in 2025 as puppy from South Carolina and was adopted, but unfortunately he was returned at the end of March, of no fault of his own. Gumbo is looking for a quiet and loving home where he can truly shine - and he would do best as your one and only in the home, as he prefers to have his space and his humans to himself. While shy and reserved at first, once Gumbo gets to know you, he's a lovebug and will give plenty of kisses and tail wags. We've also seen Gumbo tends to feel more comfortable around women - and given the opportunity and patience, he's sure to become a dedicated and loyal companion who will become your shadow and want to do everything with you - from cuddling up on the couch to long walks along the beach. Loving a dog like Gumbo is a truly rewarding experience - as when he trusts you, you'll have his heart for life. If you're ready to give him the loving home he's been waiting for, Gumbo will be your best friend for life.

Story
Scooter is a sweet, happy boy who would love nothing more than a person to call his own. He was returned to ARF through no fault of his own and is still settling back into shelter life. Like many dogs, he appreciates a little time to warm up in new situations, but once he does, Scooter is incredibly affectionate and loving. He would do best in a calm home where he can continue to build confidence at his own pace. With patience and kindness, Scooter will reward you with endless affection, loyalty, and a lifetime of love.

Story
Diesel still thinks he’s a puppy — full of exuberance, playfulness, and love. He’s a big, strong boy who doesn’t quite know his size (he may try to be your lap dog!) and thrives on affection. Diesel is looking for an adopter who can provide gentle guidance, structure, and continued training to help him be his best self. He’s dog-selective, needs a cat-free home, and will do best with someone experienced and confident handling larger dogs. To help set Diesel up for success, his adopter will receive a free course of ARF obedience classes! Come meet this lovable goofball today!

Labrador Retriever Mixed Breed (Medium)

Male, 1 yr 2 mos
East Hampton, NY
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Good with kids, Good with dogs, Not good with cats, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Phinjamin is a bouncy, playful black lab mix with a big heart and an even bigger personality. This handsome boy arrived from Acadiana Animal Aid in Louisiana at the end of August, thanks to the BISSELL Pet Foundation and the Irving and Phyllis Millstein Foundation for Animal Welfare. Phinjamin is fun-loving, affectionate, and always ready for his next adventure. He already knows sit, down, and stay, and he’s working hard on paw and shake (sometimes with a little extra enthusiasm). ARF will cover his first training class to help him continue building great skills. He recently discovered he has allergies to cats, grass, and peanuts, so he’s looking for a home that leans more city or sandy beach than grassy countryside. With structure, patience, and love, Phinjamin will grow into an amazing companion. This silly boy absolutely loves dogs- he would do best in a home with a canine friend to play with. If you’re ready for a joyful, goofy dog who brings nonstop smiles, come meet Phinjamin!
