Story
Sabbath was given to us so we could watch him for a while until his mom got back on her feet. We went to drop him off once she said she was ready for him, and she texted saying she doesn’t want him. We do not have the space nor time for a puppy unfortunately. He has a lot of energy and would benefit from having a home with a yard and someone who will be able to give him all the attention he deserves.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Virginia (virginiak@tarasdream.org) for more information about this pet. Please visit our web site at https://tarasdream.org/adopt to fill out an adoption application for this pet and for more info about our adoption process.   Meet Roxy!  Roxy is one unique girl who’s had a rough go being in our boarding facility for several years now, which is never good.  That said, her personality is still that of a smiley happy dog, who loves to go on walks with our volunteers.  Roxy was recently fostered in a home for the holidays where she did very well, having no accidents and behaving like an angel!  Roxy can be a little nervous and unsure of men, which just means men should give her time to familiarize with them, and respect her by moving slowly, and not acting like an idiot or aggressive (I’m a guy btw, I can vouch we are idiots at times).  Roxy needs someone patient, but once she connects with you, she will be your best friend and love you in the most special way.  If you think you are that unique opportunity for Roxy, she’s been waiting!    Approximate Birthdate:  Oct 2017 Adoption Fee: Roxy's adoption fee has been sponsored by the Kansas City Crime Lab! TARA's adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test (if age appropriate), heartworm and flea prevention, and deworming.  TARA's pets are all eligible for a TWO WEEK TRIAL. Due to the fact that many of our dogs come from the local city shelters, we do not know the background of many of them and therefore cannot always guarantee age or breed.  Size is subjective but we use the following guidelines: Small 1-20 pounds, Med 20-50 pounds, Large 50-80 pounds, Extra Large over 80 pounds.   For more information please fill out an application.     CONTACT INFO The Animal Rescue Alliance (TARA) Web site: tarasdream.org Adoption Information & Applications: https://tarasdream.org/adopt Upcoming Adoption Events: https://tarasdream.org/events Email: email@tarasdream.org November 4, 2024, 9:18 pm

Story
Atwood is a playful three-year-old pooch who would love a quiet home to call his own. He spent some time in a noisy shelter environment and is so over that noisy chaos! All those dogs yap yap yapping all the time and all he wanted was a nap, darn it. He loves to pose for pictures and play with his toys, especially his stuffies. He would also like some peanut butter, by the way. Atwood prefers a peaceful existence in an abode with no kids and no other pets, please. Most of all, though, Atwood wants to be with people who love him. He's such a lovely, sweet boy. Call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 for more info. Atwood is in the KC metro, but transport is available to the right home, foster or permanent. #thepetconnection

Please visit our web site at https://tarasdream.org/adopt to fill out an adoption application for this pet and for more info about our adoption process.  Meet Sabrina!  Sabrina is a pittie mix, and she’s a firecracker of energy who would make for a sweet companion for an active household.  She walks well on a leash, and she does simmer down once she gets some energy out. Her energy level is in part because she’s in a boarding facility where her time to play is always limited, so we believe she would settle into a home environment very nicely. Sabrina’s good with most other dogs but would would need some time to get used to sharing her home with another pet as she hasn't had to since being in our program. She does have a tendency to chase cats, so her ideal feline friend would be an older, more laid back cat.  She’s friendly with everyone, but as she can be so excited at times, she would be best suited for a home without very small children that she might knock over with kisses!  Sabrina wants to remind you that it’s not easy to find a home when you’re a black dog, and she would love an opportunity to meet you and melt your heart.        Approximate Birthdate:  July 2022 Adoption Fee:  My adoption fee is sponsored by a generous volunteer! Story
Want a total goofball in your life? One who also is practically certified in snuggling? You need to meet Beau! This handsome boy is great on leash, willing to work for kibble and/or praise, AND does his business outside. He's a gentleman in the house when left alone. All good stuff, right? Here's more good news if you have another dog in your life: Beau generally loves other dogs and was best buddies with the one he lived with in his last home. Now, Beau is a chill pooch who prefers a low-traffic, adult-only home, so he's not a great fit for someone who has a mini Grand Central Station going on in their house, but otherwise he can be pretty flexible. In addition to adding a really great guy to their lives, whoever takes Beau will get ongoing training support from The Pet Connection! To foster or adopt Beau, please call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387. He's in the Kansas City metro but transport is available to the right home. #thepetconnection #AdoptDontShop #RescueDog #DogLover #KansasCityDogs #FosterDog #DogTraining #ChillPooch #GoodBoy #DogRescue

Story
Rocky is a gentle soul who starts his morning with some stretches, downward dog yoga poses, and meditation (aka naps in the sun). He's a big chap at about 80 pounds, but don't worry, at just about five years old, Rocky won't be growing more! We recently learned that Rocky loooooooves to swim! Like, really loves it and could possibly be a water sports dog, too. He dives for the ball and really commits by putting his head and body under the water! This pooch has heart *and* skills, we're happy to report. He's also super cute -- bonus! You couldn't ask for a better pooch than this guy. He's intelligent, affectionate, loving, house-trained, and doesn’t chew on anything (except for toys and Benebone wishbones). Rocky is good with adults and children of all ages -- he grew up with babies and toddlers and loves spending time with a 2.5-year-old toddler now, playing ball with him for hours. Do you have a dog in need of a canine companion? Fantastic! Rocky adores the dogs in his foster home. He carefully picks out toys to share with them and then they enjoy a good game of chase in the yard. He would also do great as the only pooch in his home if he gets plenty of attention from the humans. Rocky is not so much a cat guy, though. Rocky already knows sit, stay, come, touch, and shake. He loves earning treats by doing these tricks and could be easily trained to learn even more. Rocky takes treats so, so gently from your hand, too. (He's such a good boy!) Some of Rocky's favorite things are getting pets, riding in the car, being outdoors, playing with toys, and going on walks. While Rocky loves cuddling in bed with his humans, he patiently waits to be invited up, because he's polite like that. What Rocky would love to do most of all, though, is find his forever home. Please call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 if you're The One. If not, please share Rocky's information with everyone you know so you can visit Rocky at their house when he gets adopted. #thepetconnection

Story
Hi&#44 Iandamp;#39;m Cole. 2 words that best describe me...GENTLE GIANT. The scale may say 95 pounds&#44 but itandamp;#39;s all in my heart. Whatandamp;#39;s cheaper than a therapy session? Walking me on a leash. Even the small girls at the shelter us me as their Zen session on a walk. Iandamp;#39;m here to tell you a bit about my journey and why Iandamp;#39;m still holding out hope for that perfect forever home. You see&#44 Iandamp;#39;ve been adopted a few times&#44 but for various reasons&#44 Iandamp;#39;ve found myself back here at the shelter. It hasnandamp;#39;t been easy&#44 but I havenandamp;#39;t let it dampen my spirits or my belief that my forever family is out there.andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;Iandamp;#39;m a sweet&#44 loving dog with a personality that shines once you get to know me. Iandamp;#39;m a quick learner and know all my commands-sit&#44 stay&#44 lay down-you name it&#44 Iandamp;#39;ve got it covered. Iandamp;#39;m also a dream to walk on a leash; Iandamp;#39;ve got my manners down pat&#44 so strolls together will be a breeze.andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;Iandamp;#39;d do best in a home with older kids who can understand and appreciate my gentle&#44 yet sometimes cautious&#44 nature. Itandamp;#39;s really important to me that I meet everyone in the household before we make things official-I want to make sure that we all click and that everyone feels comfortable. If you have other dogs&#44 thatandamp;#39;s great! Iandamp;#39;m always open to making new four-legged friends&#44 but Iandamp;#39;d love to meet them first to ensure weandamp;#39;re a good match.andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;What Iandamp;#39;m really looking for is a family that will love me unconditionally&#44 just as I will love them. Iandamp;#39;ve got so much love to give&#44 and Iandamp;#39;m ready to share it with the right people. Could that be you? If you think we might be a good fit&#44 Iandamp;#39;d love to meet you and show you just how special I am. Letandamp;#39;s make my next home my forever one!

Zeus is a very friendly energetic dog. He does well with cats and other dogs. He does require a lot of attention that we are not able to give him and would like to find him a better home. We do let him out when we are home but we crate him at night in an enclosure because regular crates were bothering his hips. He is 9 years old.

Story
Lady is under a year old and is already a pretty big girl! This sweetheart has some interesting lineage, her mom is a Bernese Mountain dog/ Poodle cross, and her dad was a Golden Retriever/ Poodle cross but her genetic test said she's 100% lover. With those mixes, it's no surprise that Lady loves to play! Despite that, she knows when it's time to calm down and get some cuddles in! Lady may take a little while to warm up, but once she breaks out of her shy shell, you'll have a companion who wants nothing more than to get pets and attention from her person! This lovely girl has done well with other dogs and seems to have an affinity for kids! If you're looking for a soft fluffy dog with a sweet affectionate disposition and nothing but love and hugs to give, look no further! All dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped, Heartworm tested (6 months and above,) and current on vaccinations and preventions prior to adoption. At the time of adoption all dogs are signed up with a unique Safe Paws QR pet ID tag, the adopter is required to maintain a monthly membership of $2.99/month for (at minimum) the first year. This helps insure your new furry family member makes his way back to you if lost. Leashes and collars are also required at the time of adoption. You are welcome to bring your own, or we have plenty to choose from at the shelter as well. If the pet you fall in love with is not quite ready for adoption, we do offer a $50 hold deposit that will insure you have first "dibs on adoption. Once an animal is available for adoption, we are not able to hold them, as there are so many animals waiting to come into our program. Our shelter is located at 10312 East 63rd Street in Raytown, MO. We are open to meet pets Tuesday through Friday from 10-6, and on Saturday and Sunday from 10-5. We are closed on Mondays. You are welcome to fill out our quick 10 question adoption survey to facilitate a quicker process.
