Story
Meet Chief Chedder, a seven year old Lab mix. Chief Cheddar is a little bit of an oddball, he likes attention but is very head shy and wants it on his terms with people he knows. Once he knows you he does enjoy a good lovin and is very easy to handle, but you have to gain this boy's respect and trust. Due to this we recommend a home with no kids. Chief Chedder met a small dog in the lobby and went to say hi, the small dog snapped at him and Chief Cheddar immediately backed off so he could be a good dog for a home with other canine companions. Chief Chedder is just looking for a retirement home with someone who will accept him "as is" and love him and all of his quirks. If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been processed. Adopters are welcome to visit the adoption center Monday-Sunday, that's right we are open all days of the week! A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal's picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Before you go searching for free puppies or puppies for sale, check your local Shelters for available dogs and puppies that have been vetted and are ready to go home. Adopt Don't Shop.

Story
Meet Beau, a one year old Chocolate Lab mix. Beau came to us with a skin issue that caused him to loose some of his fur, thankfully we were able to treat it and it shouldn't affect him moving forever... You can already see that most of his fur has regrown to its former glory. Beau is a friendly boy that knows no stranger. This dorky guy loves to meet new people and go for walks. He will sit eagerly for a treat and even give you his paw. Beau is easy to work with and will make an excellent companion for someone. He gets along fantastically with all dogs he has met so far and seems to be very easy going, happy to play with them if they want or play without them if that is what they prefer. He loves to play with toys and will keep you smiling all day long with his friendly enthusiasm. If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. Story
Meet Marshall, a two year old Lab/Pit mix.Marshall came to us after his owner was hospitalized and no longer able to care for him. Marshall is rather unsure of all the changes and a little aloof, he seems to be holding out hope that his owner will be able to come get him, unfortunately that just isn't the case. Marshall came to us with some skin issues and hairloss that is currently being treated. He would love a home that will give him a little grace as he has been through quite a lot including firefighters having to break down the door to his home in order to assist his previous owner. At 72 pounds Marshall is a decent sized dog but walks well on leash and is doing great with his manners. Marshall has met other dogs while being here and does really well, his favorite play partner is currently Beau a Chocolate Lab mix who we leave outside in the yard together while their kennels are being cleaned. This pet is available for adoption on 9/8/2024 at 3:49 PM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center.
