Story
Meet Milo, an adorable 13-year-old senior dog! Milo and Daphne came into rescue as their previous owner passed away. Although he might be a bit older, Milo still has lots of love and affection to give to his forever family. He would be the most successful in a home with no cats, dogs, and with a fence, preferably a privacy fence. He does not jump fences, but does bark and growl at other dogs so it would be best if he does not have to interact with other dogs. Milo is the perfect companion for someone looking for a more low-key, yet affectionate dog.He loves to cuddle and snuggle. He is used to being alone at home. Milo is very loyal and will stick by your side through thick and thin. He would do best in a calm and quiet home where he can take life at his own pace. Milo may have a hard time getting along with other dogs, but he's sure to steal your heart with his charming personality and loving nature! He is not a fan of fireworks and thunderstorms so he does have an anti-anxiety medication he takes as needed. *More information and photos added over time. We work on training, crate-training and socialization before a dog is adopted out. Foster homes are extremely important to the success of the cat at their forever home, and it is extremely rewarding to be able to watch the cats growth as you help them on their journey to their happy ending. Story
Oscar is a sweet, loving boy. He is 9 and we saved him from a rescue shelter almost 5 years ago. He is great with our original dog. He is a bit skittish with people at first and likes his independence. He loves squeaky toys. He does have some challenges that stem from his puppyhood. He is difficult to corral sometimes, though once you get the leash on him he’s ok. He is shy at first but he does warm up over time. (He’s fine with our best friends and their dog when they bring him over.) He barks when scared and does mark his territory like all males, in all honesty he still struggles a bit in that regard - he benefits from outdoor space for bathroom breaks. In a nutshell he’s a little lover with a big heart. We are hoping to find him a home full of love. We love him so very much but cannot take him to England with us when we move.

Story
Henry is an extremely sweet dog. He can truly be a mans best friend. He loves to take long walks. We even jog for a mile or two sometimes. Henry loves nature and being around those he loves. He is a cheese lover and just super polite when he is at home. Sleeping is also high on his priority list. That said he behaves extremely well in controlled environments but once he is outside of that environment fear will take place. He is an anxious and reactive dog that needs to be on controlled medication. If he feels someone is encroaching on his space he will bite and protect himself and owner. So he should not be patted or touched by other people or dogs that he does not know. The perfect set up would be a family that doesn't really travel much or have strangers over --- one that has backyard that he can play in and does not have any small kids in the house.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hi there! I’m Betty, a petite, 11-pound Jack Russell Terrier with a lively personality and a whole lot of love to give. They call me a "velcro dog" because I love to stick close to my favorite people. At home, I’m a total cuddle bug, happiest when snuggling up on the couch or in bed. I can be a bit reserved with new faces, but once I warm up, I’m all yours! I’m a high-energy girl, and I would thrive with an active family who loves to play and be outdoors. I’ll admit, I can get into a little mischief if I’m bored—so plenty of toys and fun activities keep me on my best behavior! I’m smart and love learning new tricks, especially if treats are involved. I even know how to sit and do a little "dance" for a snack, and I think I’d be a superstar in agility or obedience with the right training. I would be a great fit for someone with dog experience that understands training and setting boundaries for me. I’m getting the hang of leash walking, and I do best with a harness to keep me safe as I get excited and will pull on the leash. I get along well with my foster dog siblings and would love to have a furry friend in my forever home, especially one who likes to run and wrestle with me. While I enjoy the company of other dogs, I’m a little too rowdy around cats, so I’d do best in a home without them. Potty training is coming along, but I’ll need a little encouragement on those chilly days! I do bark at strangers outside the home and might need gentle reassurance around loud noises like fireworks. When my foster family is away, I stay in my kennel, though I sometimes get a little whiny if they’re home and I’m in there. I just want to be near them! My favorite things? Following my foster mom everywhere, chewing on bully sticks, and playing fetch. I’ll need a home with a fenced yard since I can be a bit of an escape artist, especially when I’m in the mood to chase after something. I’m jaunty, confident, and ready to be your new best friend—let’s make some memories together! *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog. Your donation will help us buy dog food and pay for medical costs. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Did I catch your eye? Learn more about me by reading my profile below; I just might be your new best friend! Apply on our website ( https://www.healingheartsrescue.org/adopt )  to  set up a private meeting or check below for my adoption event schedule.   Age: Approximately 5 years old Weight:  Dog friendly: Yes, requires on in the home Cat friendly: unknown, not tested Kid friendly: older kids only Potty trained: Yes, good on a schedule  Crate trained: No, does not like the crate    Izzy is a very smart, playful and goofy typical JRT in so many ways. Once Izzy has chosen you as her person, she is very loving and protective. Whether you are getting home from being gone for hours or just getting out of bed from 2 feet away from her, she will let you know just how happy she is to see you with her extremely fast wagging tail and little love grunts as she dances around you. Izzy LOVES her toys. She typically likes to carry her miniature hedgehogs around in her mouth as she goes about her day, inside and outside. She seems to really enjoy car rides and is usually very quiet and calm until you get to your destination and then she ready to go. Izzy loves walks and sniffing and for the most part can be easy to take on walks until she sees other dogs and then her protective side comes out and she is quite reactive. Izzy is a huge fan of routine and change can be hard on her. Izzy's past has clearly taught her that people can be scary but with patience and time she is slowly learning to trust. Izzy currently has two foster siblings (a male Shih Tzu mix and a female Beagle) and does well with them. Izzy does best with a calm companion dog that she can take cues from to help her with her anxiety. Izzy can be one of the most rewarding and sweet dogs that you would ever meet if she's given enough time and patience.
