His family can no longer meet his needs, and now he’s hoping for a fresh start — either in a foster home or with a forever family who understands him. At 4 years old, this 40 lb Jack Russell mix is the perfect blend of chill companion and adventure buddy. Most days, Crane is happy to lounge nearby and keep you company… but he still enjoys getting out for a daily walk or hike to stretch those legs and explore the world. Crane is: Neutered & up to date on vaccines House trained & crate trained Good with cats, and doesn’t mind pigs or chickens (though he may occasionally test a chicken’s luck ) Excellent with puppies He does have some classic “terrier personality” quirks: • He likes his space and prefers people who respect his boundaries • Crane is not a fan of people getting in his face, hugging tightly, or sudden close interactions — especially from new people. He does best with slow, respectful introductions where he can approach on his own terms. Once he trusts you, he’s a loyal and affectionate companion, just not the “in-your-face cuddly” type • Best in a home with adults or kids 16+ who understand dog body language • Can be hesitant with women at first, but warms up with patience • Not looking for drama with other dogs, but won’t immediately back down either • Will alert you to visitors (especially the Amazon driver ), but is not aggressive Crane also has a bit of a wandering spirit — especially if other dogs are involved — so a fenced yard or tie-out is a must to keep him safe. He would truly thrive with someone who understands terriers and appreciates their independent, quirky nature.
