Intake Reason: Surrendered by ownerWeight: 15# Known with: ·Cats: Unknown ·Dogs: Lived with a Spayed Female 9 yr old Lab mix and a Spayed female 4 yr old Terrier mix. ·Kids: Lived with children 6,7 & 10 yrs old and did great.Hi ya, my name is Twix and I am a sweet and spunky lad. I was a stray at MADACC and was adopted by a very nice family but we were not the right match; I was having some house-training issues and get anxious when I am alone. I am looking for a family who will set some boundaries and crate me when I am alone. I may not be a great fit for communal living because I can be quite vocal when I am all by myself and close-by neighbors may not appreciate that. In my new home I should not be allowed on the furniture because, for whatever reason, being on a couch or chair makes me want to pinkle. Although I do not have a clear signal to ask to go outside, if I am given ample opportunities to use the facilities I do pretty well when I am not on the furniture. One other fun-factoid about me is that I like you to be with me outside when I go potty rather than being outside by myself. And as long as we are out there together, you can heap lots of praise on me and give me lots of yummy treats when I do eliminate to help reinforce the behavior. I may not be super-high-octane but I am an active guy who likes to run, play fetch and romp with other pooches. Not only did I live with a couple canines but I also went to dog parks, played with the neighbor dogs and get to participate in the playgroups at the shelter. I am an outgoing lad who will readily greet you; I tend to jump up to say ‘hi' but that is only because I am vertically challenged and I am trying to get close to you. I am an affectionate lap-lover who is calm and gentle; rather than join you on the couch, perhaps we can both camp out on the floor for our snuggle sessions. I am a smart boy and know the cues for ‘sit', ‘come' and ‘relax on mat'. Successful training requires perseverance, patience and time; I will need you to be consistent and firm but always use only positive reinforcement methods. It I also important to keep training sessions short and exciting because I can get bored easily. I may be pint-size but I am a tough chewer so my toys should be able to handle rough play. I am a loveable spitfire who promises to be devoted to you and will enjoy any activity we can share together; I love family time. If you are looking for a small dude with a big heart and a big personality, maybe a Jack Chi is in your future. Stop by to meet me in person and discover how adorable and dynamic I am.#1

Story
Hello! My name is Stella! You may remember me from a while back. I have unfortunately been in and out of the shelter a handful of times in the last two years for one reason or another. I have not been able to catch a break or find my true forever home! I really think now that I'm back again, this next home is going to stick! I am really not all that high maintenance. I have a decent amount of energy, but nothing that a little playtime can't fix! I am not much of a walker though - I have what's called a luxating patella which essentially means that my kneecap moves around in it's socket. Sometimes I will start to limp, but for the most part, it doesn't seem to bother me too much. I just may want to be carried around like the little princess I am! I also do have some vision impairment, but that doesn't seem to slow me down either. I do tend to get overwhelmed while walking on a leash, both when seeing dogs and seeing people. I don't always get along with strangers either, so a quiet home that doesn't see much traffic in and out would be perfect for me! I have also lived with another dog in the past, but many dogs I have a hard time getting along with. I do need a quiet home, so I'd prefer a home without children as well because of that. Do you think you could give me my happily ever after that I've been waiting for so long to have? I'd love to meet you! Primary Color: Tri Color Weight: 28 Age: 4yrs 10mths 0wks

Story
If you're looking for a spunky, intelligent pup with loads of personality and the most insanely cute ears, Erin is the one for you! We are desperately hoping someone out there will fall in love with this little firecracker, just as our volunteers have. She originally came to us back in October from Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission (MADACC), after multiple adoptions and returns. Sadly, she has repeated that trend with us, being adopted out last fall and returned to SFTS in April. Since her return in April, she has only received 2 applications, and we are noticing her behavior start to change after so many months in the shelter. Erin is a wonderful little Jack Russell mix around 5 years old. She is potty trained, crate trained, and absolutely loves going on adventures. Erin has had many doggy day outs with our volunteers and weekend stays with our fosters, and everyone raves about how wonderful she is away from the shelter and in a home. Unfortunately, when we show her to adopters she acts disinterested, which isn't received well by potential adopters. As is true with many shelter animals, Erin experiences a fair amount of kennel stress, which results in her being a bit overwhelmed during meetings with new people. But when given some time away from the shelter to decompress, she quickly warms up and becomes the most loving, sweet girl with goofy antics. The other major hurdle for Erin is her reactivity to other dogs. She needs to be the only pup in the house, but can easily go on walks and pass other dogs when given enough space. Erin is easily motivated, and smart as a whip. Her reactivity is manageable, especially given her size, but we're sure she will make even more progress with some individualized training outside of the stressful shelter environment. With a dog as cute as her, why would you want to share your attention with another pup?! Our staff and volunteers are noticing a considerable decline in Erin's mental health and general attitude after months in the shelter. Although we provide her with daily enrichment, lots of time in the yard, multiple walks each day, and frequent weekends away or doggy days out, each time she ends up back at the shelter and we fear she is feeling defeated. We need to find an adopter for Erin, and give her the loving home she deserves. All of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age appropriate vaccines. If you're interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website at sftsrescue.org/adoptableanimals
