Story
Yoshi is about 4 years old, exact age unknown. We found him as a stray in July 2021. Life was manageable with two other dogs. As a stray, he showed signs of possible past trauma. Within the first year, he grew to trust us and became very lovable and loyal towards those he felt comfortable with. He loves petting, playing, and running. A perfect lap dog for those who give him love and attention. He takes monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks, and heart worms, and daily trazodone for anxiety. Very healthy now, but after having 2 kids, the resulting environment has proven too stressful, and his behavior has regressed. Common triggers are food competition, perceived threats, or feeling cornered. May bark, jump, or bite if triggered. He would do well in a home without small children and few or no other pets. Having a large yard to play in or time for walks is a plus. He still has a tendency to tug and bark while walking, so more leash training is needed. Any questions, just ask! Thank you!

Story
Bart is a reserved 12 year old Jack Russell/Cattle dog mix. In his 12 years, this wise man has seen a lot. He is his own judge of character. Prefers a quiet and calm life. He now shares our lobby with several other friendly, playful pups and he does well. He hangs around to meet new adopters and guests. Might say hello to some or might just walk away. We know he has a crush on our Executive Director. A home including a male would be good. He does well with others when he can approach on his terms. Another dog in the home would be great. Might take Bart a minute to settle in, however, we believe with patience, love, kindness, the trust will come. A home with a fenced yard would be ideal. To adopt this pet, please go to hsnwga.org, 'Adoption' then 'Application for Adoption', to complete an online application to be preapproved. Due to the high volume of applications received, our Adoption Coordinator will only contact the applicant that best meets the needs of the pet.

Story
Check out this cutie! Summit is a male Jack Russell/Boston Terrier mix born September 2020. He is the perfect companion for an adult only home. Summit forms a strong bond with his owner and sometimes can be protective. He might be a bit standoffish in the beginning. We believe this is something from his past. He is a happy little dog when playing with his pals outside. Summit would enjoy the companionship of a well-mannered dog in his new home. If you own a dog, we can arrange a playdate to see if they are a match. He is already housebroken and would enjoy a home with a fenced in yard so he can run and play safely. Summit is a great little dog that will make some lucky family a fabulous pet.To adopt this pet, please go to hsnwga.org, 'Adoption' then 'Application for Adoption', to complete an online application to be preapproved. Story
You can see the conflict in Luke's eyes: he so wants to come to you for pats and attention, which he craves, but he is nervous around most people and their too-quick movements or outstretched hands, so he'll back safely out of reach. Not too far away, though... he really wants to be nearby and will often follow you around the house or yard like a quiet little shadow. When his skittishness isn't getting the best of him, Luke is a wonderful little 16 lb. companion with a gentle nature, great house manners, and fabulous leash-walking skills. He has an adorably quirky 'smile' when he is feeling affectionate and wants to give kisses. His house-training is reliable when he is kept on a routine and his humans don't ignore his soft whining cues. Luke will spend the night curled up in bed with you or, if you prefer, in a nearby crate where he'll rest comfortably and patiently until you let him out in the morning. He is congenial with other dogs, hanging out near them and sometimes trying to entice them to play with bows and feints and excited zoomies. He is uncomfortable when they get too close at treat time, however, or if he thinks they're trying to take his coveted space on the couch next to Foster Dad, in which case he'll give a warning growl to tell the other dog to back off. He is accustomed to living with cats, mostly just ignoring them. Luke is 6 years-old but he doesn't seem to know basic commands – yet! He is very food motivated, though, so he may do well with training. Luke is hoping for a quiet home with patient, dog-savvy adult humans, especially if they're slow-moving and like to sit around giving lots of pets and scratches and belly rubs. You can see lots more pictures of him and a few videos in his album at www.ImageEvent.com/beales/fosters/luke .Our adoption fee is $200 for adult dogs or $250 for puppies under 6 months old.
