Story
"Meet Skunk! This 3–5 year old Jack Russell Terrier mix is a quirky, loyal little guy who really shines once he’s comfortable in his environment. In a calm, familiar home, Skunk is incredibly easy to have around—he settles in nicely and is just a great companion to coexist with. Skunk thrives with other dogs and will definitely need a canine buddy in his forever home. He’s done well with dogs of all sizes and especially enjoys having a friend to hang out with when his people are away. He’s currently left loose in a separate room with a dog companion and does great with that setup. Crates aren’t his thing (they cause him significant stress), but with a little management he does just fine. He’s affectionate and enjoys attention from his people, but he’s not overly needy or demanding. Skunk forms strong bonds and is especially fond of his trusted humans. Skunk’s biggest challenge is meeting new people. He can be a bit growly at first, and it takes him about an hour to settle in and feel safe. Because of this, he’ll do best in a home without young children and with adopters who understand that he just needs a little time and patience when it comes to new introductions. If you’re looking for a loyal, low-key companion and have a resident dog to show him the ropes, Skunk could be a really special addition to your home." Skunk is being fostered in Aurora, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs.* You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/skunk/. Story
Gorda is a gentle soul looking for her forever home! This sweet Jack Russell Terrier/Chihuahua mix does well with other small dogs and enjoys their company. Gorda is still learning to trust people and appreciates having time and patience from her humans. Once she feels safe, she’ll warm up and be your loyal snuggle buddy. Due to her preference for a quieter environment, Gorda would do best in a home with adults or children over 12. If you have room in your heart for a loving pup who’s ready to blossom, Gorda may be the perfect companion for you!March 9, 2026, 3:20 pm

Story
Maggie is 3-4 year old Terrier/Chihuahua/Poodle mix weighing about 15lbs.  Maggie came to us over a year ago from a hoarding case where there were over 60 Chihuahua/Poodle mixes living in a small home in Denver.  They were all incredibly under socialized and neglected, with most of the females being pregnant.  We were able to take in 5 of the pregnant moms from Maxfund to help get them into a safe and comfortable place to give birth and raise their puppies.  We also took about 8 other dogs from the hoarding case to start them socializing and learning how to "dog".  Maggie is now the last dog from the hoarding case and needs her forever family.  Maggie has clearly been through a lot and still has a long way to come.  She is a sweet girl but still pretty timid around humans.  She will come and snuggle with her foster Momma on her terms but it did take an incredibly long time for that to happen.  Maggie really needs a human who can be patient with her and give her a forever home with lots of love knowing she came from an incredibly rough situation and will probaly never be a completely "normal" dog. Her fosters describe her as more of a cat-dog.  We know she could make more progress with some training as well.  We will require she goes to a home with another dog so she can continue to learn how to trust and be a dog. Story
Loki is a 5MO, 7lb Terrier mix.  He is the cutest little scruffy, scraggly, snuggly little guy.  We are guessing Loki will be about 12-15lbs when full grown.  We don't know their actual breeds, but they do NOT seem like they are going to be 100% nonshedding or hypoallergenic. They will most likely be lower-shedding though!  Loki and his brother were dumped at a shelter in Mexico.  The shelter reached out to one of our rescue partners here in the states in hopes we could take them and find them wonderful homes here in CO.  Loki and his brother made their way to CO a little while ago and are healthy, happy, well socialized, and ready to find their forever families!   Loki and his brother are both playful, smart, confident and loving.  They get along with other dogs, kids, and humans.  They would each do well in a home with another dog to play with or someone who has time to train, socialize, and exercise a puppy.  These two pups are on their way to be amazing pups! If you are interested in adopting Loki OR Teddy, please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com ##2657289##
