Meet Keebler, a 10-month-old Husky mix. He now weighs around 25 pounds, but we expect him to mature to around 40 pounds. He wears a medium-length chocolate, tan, and white coat and peers out at the world through one blue eye and one green eye. This handsome boy gets along great with other dogs, but we are unsure of how he feels about cats. Keebler is an active dog and loves to run around in his kennel. He does great on a leash and will follow you around waiting for pets. Adopt Keebler and let him fill your life with love and joy! Story
(This dog is a lower fee- $150 for adoption and $100 for transport.) This handsome Husky mix is named Holden. He's around 1 year old and weighs between 60 and 65 pounds. He wears a short coat of shiny black that's accented with white on his chest, face and paws. And he looks at the world through eyes of milk chocolate. Holden does very well with other dogs, kids, and his foster's cat! In fact, he's simply a nice dog to have around. (posted 12/7/24, TN) Holden is what we call a Celebrate Home Dog which means his adoption fee is lower. This is because Holden has been with us for a while, and we would like to see him go home with you. Story
Daisy and her puppies were saved from living on the streets of TX by SSR. She was treated for mange and her coat is absolutely beautiful now! She is a little cautious with unknown people, but once she knows you she is very affectionate. Daisy has a lovely temperament, a happy spring in her step, and is a calm lovey dovey girl. This pretty girl is up to date on vaccinations, spayed, and under fifty pounds. Daisy would be best as your one and only dog, she will give you all the loving you need. She settles into her leash walks well and is not reactive to other dogs while on her walks. Daisy does have a prey drive and will chase the kitties. She's quite a character playing with her ball and will surely make you laugh. SSR is covering the cost to treat Daisy’s heartworm. Daisy is being fostered in West Virginia and is waiting patiently for her forever family. https://www.facebook.com/shenandoahrescueofficial/videos/1249836809727834Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  If you are an approved adopter and are interested in this dog, please let your case worker know. Story
Samoa has been returned to SSR 10-2024 for not being a good fit for the family. She is in need of a foster or adopter now. Samoa is a happy dog who tends to be a bit shy at first. She loves to play outside and run around, a fenced yard will make her dreams come true. Samoa is extremely treat motivated and will show all her tricks with ease when treats are involved. Samoa enjoys playing with other dogs, slow introductions will be best. She did do well for her cat testing. Samoa walks well on her leash walks and rides great in the car. This petite lady is loyal to her people and can be protective of them. She will "talk" to and curl up next to the ones she trust the most. Samoa is up to date on vaccinations, spayed, housebroken, and crate trained. She is needing to find her person! More information to come as we get to know her better. Samoa was surrendered by her owner in Texas 4/10/2020 along with her mom, Gingersnap, and siblings Biscotti and Churro. She is an active puppy and is very food motivated. She is getting along amazingly with a large, full grown foster, but is a little mouthy with a smaller dog. A patient adopter will help in her "inside manners" and continued work on potty training.  She will need more work with a leash, lead. She's not a fan yet, but she amazes us on the progress she's made in the short time. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  If you are an approved adopter and are interested in this dog, please let your case worker know. Story
Bleu is between 1-2 years old and the prettiest lady you've ever seen. She needs an experienced dog owner preferably with husky experience. She is a beautiful pup that loves meeting new people. She would do best in a home with older children that will respect her boundaries. She is very smart and sweet. She does need a home with no cats as she does have a high prey drive. She has a good balance of playful energy and relaxing and snuggling on the couch. She is known escape artist so she needs to be supervised at all times when outside. She likes to play with other dogs but can be a little rough and have dominance issues with other dogs at random times. She does good a crate and is crate trained. She knows basic commands and would do well with training. She likes to sunbathe and go on walks and hikes, and LOVES swimming in the river. She is good in the car, being bathed and being brushed. She is spayed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped.Interested in adopting? Story
Weaver is a playful pup with lots of energy. He loves to go to the play yard and play ball and run around. He can get a bit mouthy when he gets over stimulated but has never been aggressive. He seems to be dog friendly and a dog test will be required. We believe he is either a Husky/Akita mix or a white Akita. We are unsure of him with cats and due to his possible breed we strongly suggest using extreme caution as he could have a strong prey drive. He walks well on leash and knows some basic commands as well. He would do best in an active family that will take him on adventures to help with his high energy and to keep him engaged with various activities. We feel he would do well with kids that are older as his size and energy level could get the littles knocked over on accident. We do want the kiddos to come to the meet and greet to make sure everyone is comfortable. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines.Interested in adopting? Story
https://foha.org/pet/chaucer2022/ Hi all! I'm Charming Chaucer! I have to admit, I am quite handsome! And I do have a pretty fun and charming personality. I am also very smart and a quick learner. I already know sit, down, paw, and I'm working on mastering roll over. But I'll happily roll over for some belly rubs! I am full of energy but I'm very loving. Some of my favorite activities include playing fetch then cooling off in a pool. I may be fast, but slow and steady is the way to win my heart. I do need slow introductions to new people and other dogs, I do play well with dogs I already know. And I love my favorite volunteers and FOHA staff with all my heart. I would do best in a home without cats. I need to be in a home with a very patient owner that is very experienced with huskies! I will do best with no kids in the home as well. If you're ready for a life full of love (and dog hair) and you're willing to give me the time to show you all the great things about me, then submit an application today so we can meet!

Story
https://foha.org/pet/janis2023/ Meet Janis J, a shy and beautiful husky mix who is looking for a loving and patient home. This sweet dog has had limited exposure to humans in her early life and needs someone who can help her overcome her fears and gain confidence. Janis J is a stunning dog with beautiful brown eyes and a soft, fluffy coat. She is very shy and nervous around people, but she is slowly getting to know her voice and is learning to trust the people around her. Due to her fear of humans, Janis J needs to be placed in a home with no children and a confident dog who can help her feel more comfortable and show her the way. While she is still too shy to start obedience training, Janis J is doing great with her potty training and is making progress every day. She needs someone who is patient and understanding and who can help her build a sense of trust and security. Janis J is a sweet and loving dog who is just waiting for the right person to come along and show her the love and attention she deserves. She needs someone who is willing to take the time to build a relationship with her and who understands that she may need time to adjust to her new surroundings. If you are looking for a special dog who needs a little extra love and attention, Janis J could be the perfect match for you. She is a gentle and loving dog who is just waiting for the right person to come along and show her that the world can be a kind and loving place. With patience, love, and a confident dog friend, Janis J has the potential to become a happy and well-adjusted companion who will bring joy and happiness to your life.
