Story
7 year old female - birth date: December 30/2016 In foster care since: March 24, 2024 Fostered in Dorval, Quebec Good with: large male dogs, older children Adoption fee: $300 Meet Rosette! Sister to Toxon (fostered in Southern Ontario) and the ultimate love bug who is ready to find her forever family. Rosette is a 7 year old Alaskan mix who was finally able to retire from the dog sledding industry in March. She is hoping to find her family before the year ends, so that she can celebrate her 8th birthday AND the new year with her new people! Have you ever heard the phrase “from sled dog to bed hog?” Well, Rosette, lovingly known by her foster family as “Rosie”, is the epitome of just that, as you can see from her photos! Whether it’s the couch, her dog bed, or YOUR bed, Rosie will settle in and make herself comfy. Rosie is looking for a family that will provide her with a calm, supportive, and patient environment while she continues to gain her confidence in her new found life. As her foster mom says “Rosie has been serving others her whole life, and now it’s time for us to serve her.” Rosie still has some challenges to overcome, although each day she is becoming more and more the confident dog that she always should have been. She does have some reservations with men, as many of the sleddies rescued in March do, and may take a little while to warm up to them, but with love and patience, she has been able to overcome this fear. A home without cats or small dogs would be ideal for Rosie, though she is great with kids and large dogs. Rosie is the sweetest girl who adores curling up on the couch for a cuddle and a good nap. She’s a simple girl who is loving her retired life and all of the new things she is discovering every day. She has learned the joy of playing with toys, and she loves to run around the yard with her ball. This sweet girl is beyond ready for her forever people! She is fully potty trained, and her leash training continues to improve every day, especially with the right harness and a positive attitude from her people. If you are looking for a dog who you can build a deep connection with, get all the cuddles with, and who will bring you an insane amount of joy, then Rosie is waiting for you! Rosette is spayed, up to date on relevant vaccines, dewormed, and microchipped. While she is fostered in Quebec, we do accept adoptive homes throughout Ontario.

Story
3 year old male In foster care since: May 26, 2024 Good with: dogs, children Fostered in Ottawa, Ontario Adoption fee: 700 Hey! Nice to meet you! My name is Roadtrip! Pretty silly name, huh? Well, you need a pretty silly name when you’re a pretty silly boy like me! I am a 3 year old Siberian Husky who was rescued from the dog sledding industry in May with my brother Ridge and my buddy Santa. I’m really enjoying my new life with my foster family and my furry foster siblings. Speaking of my furry foster siblings, I am currently living with 2 husky brothers, and I love them so much! We get along well and love playing together, so I definitely think I would like a home with another playful dog! (I have not been tested with cats). I really enjoy playing games, and I LOVE cuddling, so I hope my new forever family will like those things, too! I’m so friendly and my foster family says that I’m super easy to get along with. Though they do say my excitement can sometimes be hard to contain! I am full of energy and enjoy my walks a lot! I’m really starting to understand how to politely walk on a leash. A halti or gentle lead harness, or a martingale collar, would be the best for me instead of a regular harness, so that I don’t feel like I’m working! Speaking of outdoor time (my favourite!) I will need careful supervision when outdoors, as my jumping skills are top notch and I have already managed to jump a six foot fence more than once. For this reason, I will need to be double leashed while we are still learning about each other and we should probably avoid dog parks. A member of the BSDRO team will connect with you about sled dog safety to equip you with the best ways to keep me safe! I am crate trained and usually happy to hangout there, but I have a bit of fear of missing out, or FOMO, as foster mom calls it. When I'm afraid that you're going to leave me alone for a long time, I'll sometimes use my voice to let you know I'm still here. Foster mama tells me that I'll get more comfortable soon and not be afraid of being alone. My sweet personality and friendly nature make it pretty hard not to fall in love with me! With love, patience, and a bit of training, I’ll be your best friend before you know it! I am neutered and up to date on all relevant vaccines, which means I’m ready to go home when you’re ready to have me!
