Story
7 year old female - birth date: December 30/2016 In foster care since: March 24, 2024 Fostered in Dorval, Quebec Good with: large male dogs, older children Adoption fee: 300 Meet Rosette! Sister to Toxon and the ultimate love bug who is ready to find her forever family. Rosette is a 7 year old Alaskan mix who was finally able to retire from the dog sledding industry in March. She is hoping to find her family before the year ends, so that she can celebrate her 8th birthday AND the new year with her new people! Have you ever heard the phrase “from sled dog to bed hog?” Well, Rosette, lovingly known by her foster family as “Rosie”, is the epitome of just that, as you can see from her photos! Whether it’s the couch, her dog bed, or YOUR bed, Rosie will settle in and make herself comfy. Rosie is looking for a family that will provide her with a calm, supportive, and patient environment while she continues to gain her confidence in her new found life. As her foster mom says “Rosie has been serving others her whole life, and now it’s time for us to serve her.” Rosie still has some challenges to overcome, although each day she is becoming more and more the confident dog that she always should have been. She does have some reservations with men, as many of the sleddies rescued in March do, and may take a little while to warm up to them, but with love and patience, she has been able to overcome this fear. A home without cats or small dogs would be ideal for Rosie, though she is great with kids and large dogs. Rosie is the sweetest girl who adores curling up on the couch for a cuddle and a good nap. She’s a simple girl who is loving her retired life and all of the new things she is discovering every day. She has learned the joy of playing with toys, and she loves to run around the yard with her ball. This sweet girl is beyond ready for her forever people! She is fully potty trained, and her leash training continues to improve every day, especially with the right harness and a positive attitude from her people. If you are looking for a dog who you can build a deep connection with, get all the cuddles with, and who will bring you an insane amount of joy, then Rosie is waiting for you! Rosette is spayed, up to date on relevant vaccines, dewormed, and microchipped. While she is fostered in Quebec, we do accept adoptive homes throughout Ontario.

Story
2 year old male In foster care since: May 26, 2024 Fostered in Scarborough, Ontario Good with: Kids, large dogs Adoption fee: 700 Ho, ho, ho! Meet Santa! Lovingly nicknamed Mr. Claus, Santa is a 2 year old husky/malamute mix who we know will bring you the same joy you feel on Christmas morning, every single day. As of September 6, Santa has been in foster care for 103 days. He is eager and ready to find his forever home. Here are some presents Santa will bring to your home and family if you adopt him: he is house and crate trained, and he is relatively quiet. He already knows quite a few tricks, including sit, lay down, and shake a paw. Plus, you can’t forget the present of his presence! Santa’s goofy personality will keep you smiling. Santa is known to be an avid counter-surfer, so will need a family who is willing to keep their counters clutter free while they continue working on his training for this behaviour. He has demonstrated a prey drive when he see rabbits, birds, and cats outside, so a household without a feline friend will be most suitable. Here is what Santa wants you to know about him: I am a very social boy who adores both dogs and people. I would love (and require) a sibling to play with in my new home, as well as a family who will create lots of opportunities for me to socialize and expel energy! I really love people, and will jump up to give you kisses when I first meet you. A family who can work on teaching me manners would be best, as I’ve been told that not everybody likes that, and I sometimes forget my size! I also really want to be a lap dog, and am a big fan of cuddling, so I will be happy to join you on the couch for nightly cuddles! And walking? Well that’s just the best thing ever, isn’t it? I walk well on a gentle leader and am still learning leash skills. As I am a retired sled dog, I am very strong and do want to pull quite a bit, so it will be important that you use the gentle leader harness and not a regular harness, otherwise I will think I am working again! I have tons of energy and I would be a fantastic running buddy if you’re into that! The best gift of all is that I am very trainable! I’m so eager to please, I will do absolutely anything for treats and attention. I like to mimic the behaviour of my foster siblings, so I’m sure that a well-adjusted sibling would help to train me into the best boy I can possibly be. In my time in foster care, I have discovered the joy of toys! These can be a huge motivator (and distraction) for me! I’m ready and willing to learn if you're ready to have me! Santa is neutered, dewormed, and up to date on all relevant vaccines

7 month old female In foster care since: June 13, 2024 Good with: dogs, children, tentative with cats Fostered in London, Ontario Adoption fee: 700 Meet Violet! A gorgeous blue eyed husky mix who came to us from Save A Dog Network Canada in Northern Manitoba with her sisters (who are with another rescue). Her looks alone could melt your heart and make you fall in love, but her personality will be what really pulls you in! Violet is a bundle of energy who will make a perfect companion for any adventure, even if it’s just a walk around the block. She has been practicing her leash training with her foster mom and is excelling. Violet is already mastering basic commands such as sit, especially when it’s time to eat. When it comes to mealtime, she prefers to have her food all to herself, and if her furry friends try to sneak a bite, she will let them know. She is making great strides with her potty training and with consistency and a patient family, she will be a pro in no time! Violet thrives around her furry foster siblings. Regardless of their size, she makes friends with everyone! She has shown some interest in chasing cats when she seems them outdoors, but since she is still a puppy, she can likely learn to live with a cat. Violet’s favourite pastime is playing with her doggy foster siblings, playing soccer with her foster mom in the backyard, and chewing on her chew toys - especially a tasty bone! Violet absolutely loves the people who care for her, and she will quickly become a little shadow that likes to be by your side all the time. She is starting to run with her foster mom on her workouts and really enjoying herself, so she would make a great companion for an active lifestyle. She would love somebody who she can snuggle up with at night after a day of play and exercise. Crate time isn’t Violet’s favourite, but with some positive crate training, she will be able to nestle in and feel safe in her crate soon. Violet is a bundle of both energy and affection. She is a loyal, playful, and loving companion who will add joy and happiness into the lives of the family she joins. She has traveled to Ontario for her chance to find her people and live a full and amazing life. She has touched many hearts at BSDRO in her short time with us, but she is ready to connect with the people she is going to spend the rest of her life with. Violet is spayed, dewormed, up to date on relevant vaccinations, and will be microchipped prior to adoption.

Story
Woah! Where am I?! Am I really here looking to find my forever family?! It was just last month that they were telling me I only had a few hours left before they put me to sleep, and now I'm ready to find my own family?! Wow! Things sure can change quickly around here! My name is Winter and you've probably seen my face around here a few times recently! I'm the extra special boy who spent 10 days in board and train at Doggy Discovery Zone and oh my gosh did I ever have fun! And I learned so many new things! Some of those things are: Implied sit Off leash field recall Down Stay Leave it Leash walking Potty training How to get bathed without being scared Kenneling willingly Kenneling overnight without crying Putting my harness on nicely and waiting to go for my walk Jogging with my human off leash within 30' Playing nice with other dogs Not jumping And more!! I'm about 1 year old with what foster mom says are the most beautiful blue eyes, and I'm some sort of husky mix. I have a beautiful white coat that I love to get extra dirty (that's why I had to learn how to take baths!). I'm about 47 pounds and I think I'm done growing, but I could surprise you with a few more pounds now that I'm getting proper meals and exercise! I like to chew (I'm still a baby!) so during my training I learned lots of good redirection, so if you give me my designated chew toys, I'll move on to those. But I should definitely be crated when you're leaving me alone so that I don't eat anything not meant for dogs! I used to bounce around a lot and knock kids down, but after my training, I've returned to a foster home with small children and all has gone well! I live with other big dogs with no issues, and have even met small dogs. There are lots of cats here and I'm usually pretty good with them, but sometimes I'll chase them up the stairs if they seem like they want to play. At the end of the day, I really just want somebody to play with me and somebody to cuddle up on the couch with. Somebody to love me. I'm ready to start the next chapter of my life! ✳️An adoption fee of seven hundred applies to Winter. He is neutered, dewormed, up to date on vaccines, and as a bonus comes with an easy walk harness courtesy of Doggy Discovery Zone, as well as a one on one lesson with Mika at DDZ who trained Winter for 10 days, to help you get to know each other! Story
3 year old male In foster care since: May 26, 2024 Good with: dogs, children Fostered in Ottawa, Ontario Adoption fee: 700 Hey! Nice to meet you! My name is Roadtrip! Pretty silly name, huh? Well, you need a pretty silly name when you’re a pretty silly boy like me! I am a 3 year old Siberian Husky who was rescued from the dog sledding industry in May with my brother Ridge and my buddy Santa. I’m really enjoying my new life with my foster family and my furry foster siblings. Speaking of my furry foster siblings, I am currently living with 2 husky brothers, and I love them so much! We get along well and love playing together, so I definitely think I would like a home with another playful dog! (I have not been tested with cats). I really enjoy playing games, and I LOVE cuddling, so I hope my new forever family will like those things, too! I’m so friendly and my foster family says that I’m super easy to get along with. Though they do say my excitement can sometimes be hard to contain! I am full of energy and enjoy my walks a lot! I’m really starting to understand how to politely walk on a leash. A halti or gentle lead harness, or a martingale collar, would be the best for me instead of a regular harness, so that I don’t feel like I’m working! Speaking of outdoor time (my favourite!) I will need careful supervision when outdoors, as my jumping skills are top notch and I have already managed to jump a six foot fence more than once. For this reason, I will need to be double leashed while we are still learning about each other and we should probably avoid dog parks. A member of the BSDRO team will connect with you about sled dog safety to equip you with the best ways to keep me safe! I am crate trained and usually happy to hangout there, but I have a bit of fear of missing out, or FOMO, as foster mom calls it. When I'm afraid that you're going to leave me alone for a long time, I'll sometimes use my voice to let you know I'm still here. Foster mama tells me that I'll get more comfortable soon and not be afraid of being alone. My sweet personality and friendly nature make it pretty hard not to fall in love with me! With love, patience, and a bit of training, I’ll be your best friend before you know it! I am neutered and up to date on all relevant vaccines, which means I’m ready to go home when you’re ready to have me! Sosuke Adoption Application Sosuke - Available for adoption Fostered in London, Ontario (until August 13th) and then Guelph, Ontario Hello! My name is Sosuke (pronounced: sow-skay) and I am a 2 year old Siberian Husky who is looking for my new forever home! I am a very loved pup who’s old family made the loving decision to let me find a new home after a change in our living situation. I am grateful my family loved me enough to do this, and I am excited to find my new home! I am such a silly boy who is full of personality. My favourite thing to do at the end of a long night is cuddle up with you on the couch or in bed, so a home with people who want a big old cuddly lap dog would be perfect for me! I have grown up in a home with other dogs, cats, and small animals, and have done very well! I love to play. I think a home with another dog of similar size would be great. Currently I am in a temporary foster home with another husky and we are getting along very well! I am really great on my leash, though sometimes I may pull towards other dogs to try and see if they want to play, so I will need somebody willing to help me continue working on this. I don’t think it will take me long to learn, as I am very good at my training! I even know tricks! So far I have learned: Sit, Give Paw, Lay Down, Speak, and Guard! My new family should know that I have been with my mom and dad since I was a puppy, so I may be a little confused and need some time to adjust and learn your routine, but once I do, I just know that I will be the best companion you will ever ask for! Everybody with BSDRO who has met me so far says I am adjusting quite nicely, so I think I will with my new family, too! My adoption fee is 700. I am neutered, up to date on my vaccines, and will be microchipped before adoption.
