Story
7 month old female In foster care since: June 13, 2024 Good with: dogs, children, tentative with cats Fostered in London, Ontario Adoption fee: 700 Meet Violet! A gorgeous blue eyed husky mix who came to us from Save A Dog Network Canada in Northern Manitoba with her sisters (who are with another rescue). Her looks alone could melt your heart and make you fall in love, but her personality will be what really pulls you in! Violet is a bundle of energy who will make a perfect companion for any adventure, even if it’s just a walk around the block. She has been practicing her leash training with her foster mom and is excelling. Violet is already mastering basic commands such as sit, especially when it’s time to eat. When it comes to mealtime, she prefers to have her food all to herself, and if her furry friends try to sneak a bite, she will let them know. She is making great strides with her potty training and with consistency and a patient family, she will be a pro in no time! Violet thrives around her furry foster siblings. Regardless of their size, she makes friends with everyone! She has shown some interest in chasing cats when she seems them outdoors, but since she is still a puppy, she can likely learn to live with a cat. Violet’s favourite pastime is playing with her doggy foster siblings, playing soccer with her foster mom in the backyard, and chewing on her chew toys - especially a tasty bone! Violet absolutely loves the people who care for her, and she will quickly become a little shadow that likes to be by your side all the time. She is starting to run with her foster mom on her workouts and really enjoying herself, so she would make a great companion for an active lifestyle. She would love somebody who she can snuggle up with at night after a day of play and exercise. Crate time isn’t Violet’s favourite, but with some positive crate training, she will be able to nestle in and feel safe in her crate soon. Violet is a bundle of both energy and affection. She is a loyal, playful, and loving companion who will add joy and happiness into the lives of the family she joins. She has traveled to Ontario for her chance to find her people and live a full and amazing life. She has touched many hearts at BSDRO in her short time with us, but she is ready to connect with the people she is going to spend the rest of her life with. Violet is spayed, dewormed, up to date on relevant vaccinations, and will be microchipped prior to adoption.

Story
Woah! Where am I?! Am I really here looking to find my forever family?! It was just last month that they were telling me I only had a few hours left before they put me to sleep, and now I'm ready to find my own family?! Wow! Things sure can change quickly around here! My name is Winter and you've probably seen my face around here a few times recently! I'm the extra special boy who spent 10 days in board and train at Doggy Discovery Zone and oh my gosh did I ever have fun! And I learned so many new things! Some of those things are: Implied sit Off leash field recall Down Stay Leave it Leash walking Potty training How to get bathed without being scared Kenneling willingly Kenneling overnight without crying Putting my harness on nicely and waiting to go for my walk Jogging with my human off leash within 30' Playing nice with other dogs Not jumping And more!! I'm about 1 year old with what foster mom says are the most beautiful blue eyes, and I'm some sort of husky mix. I have a beautiful white coat that I love to get extra dirty (that's why I had to learn how to take baths!). I'm about 47 pounds and I think I'm done growing, but I could surprise you with a few more pounds now that I'm getting proper meals and exercise! I like to chew (I'm still a baby!) so during my training I learned lots of good redirection, so if you give me my designated chew toys, I'll move on to those. But I should definitely be crated when you're leaving me alone so that I don't eat anything not meant for dogs! I used to bounce around a lot and knock kids down, but after my training, I've returned to a foster home with small children and all has gone well! I live with other big dogs with no issues, and have even met small dogs. There are lots of cats here and I'm usually pretty good with them, but sometimes I'll chase them up the stairs if they seem like they want to play. At the end of the day, I really just want somebody to play with me and somebody to cuddle up on the couch with. Somebody to love me. I'm ready to start the next chapter of my life! ✳️An adoption fee of seven hundred applies to Winter. He is neutered, dewormed, up to date on vaccines, and as a bonus comes with an easy walk harness courtesy of Doggy Discovery Zone, as well as a one on one lesson with Mika at DDZ who trained Winter for 10 days, to help you get to know each other! Sosuke Adoption Application Sosuke - Available for adoption Fostered in London, Ontario (until August 13th) and then Guelph, Ontario Hello! My name is Sosuke (pronounced: sow-skay) and I am a 2 year old Siberian Husky who is looking for my new forever home! I am a very loved pup who’s old family made the loving decision to let me find a new home after a change in our living situation. I am grateful my family loved me enough to do this, and I am excited to find my new home! I am such a silly boy who is full of personality. My favourite thing to do at the end of a long night is cuddle up with you on the couch or in bed, so a home with people who want a big old cuddly lap dog would be perfect for me! I have grown up in a home with other dogs, cats, and small animals, and have done very well! I love to play. I think a home with another dog of similar size would be great. Currently I am in a temporary foster home with another husky and we are getting along very well! I am really great on my leash, though sometimes I may pull towards other dogs to try and see if they want to play, so I will need somebody willing to help me continue working on this. I don’t think it will take me long to learn, as I am very good at my training! I even know tricks! So far I have learned: Sit, Give Paw, Lay Down, Speak, and Guard! My new family should know that I have been with my mom and dad since I was a puppy, so I may be a little confused and need some time to adjust and learn your routine, but once I do, I just know that I will be the best companion you will ever ask for! Everybody with BSDRO who has met me so far says I am adjusting quite nicely, so I think I will with my new family, too! My adoption fee is 700. I am neutered, up to date on my vaccines, and will be microchipped before adoption.

Story
7 year old male In foster care since: March 24, 2024 Fostered in Tecumseh, Ontario Good with: Dogs, children, cats Adoption Fee: 300 My name is Toxon and I’m a sweet potato pie! I am a 7 year old retired sled dog! I was born on December 30th, 2016 - just in time to ring in the new year! Maybe on my birthday this year I will have a family to call my own, and we can celebrate my birthday and New Years together! I’m the goodest boy who loves everyone around me and I am always excited to meet new people and other furry friends. I love greeting everyone with a great big doggy hug! But I’m sure you can teach me not to do that anymore if you think it rude. I just want to please! I am SUPER smart! I know how to sit, lay down, give a paw, and turn around. So I am sure I will have no trouble adding new tricks and commands to my repertoire if you’d like to teach me! If you lay down next to me, I will reach my paw out to you, and if you’re giving me pets and I want more, I will boop your hand with my nose to let you know. Since I was a sled dog in my previous life, I do sometimes still pull on my leash, but just a little bit! Only because I love going on walks and sniffing everything. After a couple of blocks, I tend to calm down and just leisurely enjoy the rest of our excursion! I will never turn down a tasty bone! Those are my fave! For some reason, I cannot seem to get behind eating food out of my bowl. I would much rather eat that tasty stuff right off the floor (maybe something to do with how I was fed in my life before). But don’t worry! I always clean up my mess when I’m hungry! If you are looking for a smart, energetic, and hopelessly devoted furry companion to add to your family, look no further, because I’ve got it all! I’m the box AND the arrow! I’m Toxon! Toxon is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all relevant vaccinations.

MORE PHOTOS/VIDEOS: https://www.facebook.com/TLCRR https://www.instagram.com/taffyslegacycaninerescue https://www.taffyslegacy.com/berlin First Impressions: Dogs: Good with dogs, happy to engage and LOVES to play with dogs he meets. Does like to be pushy and take/share dog beds and toys. Does listen to other dog's corrections. Cats: Loves cats, is gentle and gets along with feline friends Kids: Grew up around a toddler and baby, he loved his human sisters and was very gentle with them Strangers: He will growl very quietly, or bark, at people in his home that he does not know. He does not like being pet, or being starred at by people he is not familiar with, and it is best he is advocated for in these situations. He is currently learning, "Quiet" and continued training is being put into his socialization skills. When meeting people outside, he can be timid and prefers not to be pet, but does not growl or bark at them. If they own a dog, he is less apprehensive to engage with them and may allow them to pet him, and may even give them kisses on their hand before moving away from them. It only takes a few times meeting a stranger outdoors to be fully comfortable and confident around them, whereas indoors, it can take multiple meetings before he is accepting of them being in his space. Crate Skills: Crate trained. He is always a happy pup to snuggle up and take a nice snooze when there is a blanket in his crate. He does take a few days to settle into new environments and will lightly cry to get attention, but settles in time. Leash skills: Great leash skills. He is walked on a transitional leash as he can be skittish of cars, or people running by. He walks nicely in a loose leash walk most of the time, although he can surprise you with random puppy zoomies! Energy Level: Berlin is currently a low energy pup, he only needs an hour of walking per day. In his current foster home he gets more than required, as he gets to spend about an hour playing in the backyard with his canine companions in the morning (weather permitted), and also gets time to play tug in the evenings with his humans. He loves to play and is never discouraged as we want him to live his best life! Confidence: Berlin is an anxious dog and would do best in a home devoted to building his confidence. He is very smart, and very food motivated, which will make training him fun for all parties! Affection: Berlin is not the kind of dog that demands affection from his people, however he is still very much a love bug and soaks up all of the affection his family is willing to provide him. He would prefer to be able to follow his people around to see what they are getting up to but will wander off to lay in other areas of the house for periods of time. Training: Berlin is always eager to train when kibble is involved. He is very keen and understands his cues well, always ready to learn new things for rewards. He knows lots of commands already, and is very keen to learning more Behavioural: Berlin is overexcited by food and will whine, cry and have mini bouncing tantrums when food is being prepared for his breakfast and dinner, or if any of the other resident dogs are being fed. Although a good food drive makes training much easier, we are working to lessen the excitement around food and reduce demand crying for food. Berlin has a condition called pulmonic dysplasia which is causing stenosis which means he is at risk for arrhythmias, symptoms (such as syncope/fainting), and sudden death. Berlin had a successful balloon valvuloplasty surgery on November 22nd/23. This has significantly increased his quality and length of life. At this time, the Cardiac specialists will be completing a follow up echocardiogram in February. The results will provide us with information on Berlin's current heart health post surgery, and next steps for his on-going health care. At this time, it is anticipated he will require an additional follow up echocardiogram 6-12 months after his February follow up, with potential of annual follows ups thereafter. He is currently on one heart medication, Sotalol, which he may or may not be on long-term depending on his echo results. For 2 months worth of Sotalol pills it is $24 at your local pharmacy, which is currently given every 12 hours (2xday). We are still learning about Berlin, and will update his profile more once she settles into her new foster home. ADOPTION PROCESS: taffyslegacy.com/adoption-process
