Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.TUXEDO hails from Poplar Hill and came down south in search of his forever family. He’s neutered, vaccinated including rabies, microchipped and been deemed healthy by his vet and ready to start his new life. This handsome, gentle boy will be a great addition to just about any family as he has such an easy going nature. He loves to cuddle with you on the couch and he loves being told what a good boy he is. TUXEDO is housetrained and will let you know when he has to have a bathroom break. He’s crate trained and will sleep quietly in it all night. He’s a very social boy and gets on well with other dogs and he’s in a foster home with with another male Husky with no issues between them at all. He’s doing really well with walking on a leash and he’s learning to walk nicely on it but some extra training would definitely benefit him and also help his adopter to bond with him. He’s never met a cat so we don’t recommend a home with one. He does have children in his foster home aged 8 and up and he’s great with them so as long as they’re dog savvy, gentle and respectful to dogs then the’d be a good match for them. TUXEDO is an active boy so his ideal family should be an active one too. They should also enjoy the outdoors, walks and hiking in the woods. He travels well in a vehicle and is always willing to go on an adventure or two. He’s currently living the cottage life with his foster family and he absolutely loves the water and swims around in it for as long as he can. He does require a fenced yard as he loves to run around and play outside. He knows basic commands like “sit” “stay” “down” and “paw” and he’ll sit nicely for treats and take them “gentle.” Where he comes from it’s feast or famine for dogs so he eats very quickly and does tend to be food motivated.  He has been using a slow feeder to help him with that though. He doesn’t show any aggression to the resident dog when he eats near him and there’s never been as issue over food or treats between them. TUXEDO was recently adopted but was returned to the rescue through no fault of his own. There was a female dog who would come to visit the home and she apparently took a dislike to him so after a few days he was returned.  If TUXEDO sounds like the guy for you and your family then please put in an application to meet him.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 4, 2024, 5:20 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.DREAM is a lovely girl who hails from Keewaywin in northern Manitoba and came south with her litter of 5 puppies to find their forever homes. She’s spayed, vaccinated incl rabies, microchipped and been given a clean bill of health by her vet. We have no knowledge on her parents so the breeds we have her listed as are just a guess based on her looks. She is full grown now so we don’t see her as growing anymore other than a pound or two. She is just an amazingly affectionate girl who loves to be around people and is happiest when she’s with someone and getting belly rubs. DREAM is crate trained and sleeps quietly in it through the night and will take a nap in it during the day. She walks great on her leash and loves to go on her walks. She would love an active family who will take her on big walks and hiking on the trails. She travels well in a vehicle and will always be up for an adventure or two. She’s intelligent and smart and knows many of the basic commands. She’s really well behaved and it appears she had a lot of time spent with her in her previous home.  DREAM hasn’t met young children so we’re recommending they should be aged 6 and up. To our knowledge she hasn’t met a cat so we’re not recommending she go in a home with one. She’ll need a fenced yard so can play safely outside. She does like to play with toys and chew on a rubber toy or a bone. DREAM is just like her name implies, an absolute DREAM dog who will be a great addition to one lucky family. As she’s truly a beautiful, well behaved, affectionate and oh so loveable dog.  We always recommend obedience training to an adopter of a new dog as it helps to form a bond between the dog and their owner so we would like to know that her adopter is willing to do that with her. If you would like to meet DREAM then please submit an adoption application. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 4, 2024, 5:20 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.ALMOS is part of the Dreamer Litter who came south with his 4 litter mates from the Northern Manitoba community of McKenzie Island. He’s had his first set of puppy vaccines, a microchip, a dose of dewormer and been deemed a healthy boy by his vet. He did also come into rescue with his mum and her name is DREAM and she strongly resembles a White Husky/Gt Pyrenees. We have no information on dad though but he could well be a Shepherd. This handsome little guy is very outgoing and has lots of tail wags to give. He has a real snuggly side to him as well as he loves to snuggle with you and fall sound asleep in your lap. ALMOS is crate trained and sleeps soundly in it all night and he’ll also go in there of his own accord during the day to take a nap. He’s only just started to go on walks and getting used to being on a leash and like all puppies, he’ll jump around and try to pull ahead of you on it. Housetraining is still very much a work in progress and he’s only just learning to use the bathroom outside and he does still use newspaper in the house. This energetic little guy loves to play and chase his toys around and he really likes to chew on the rubbery ones and Nyla bones due to his teething. He has several dogs in his foster home and be enjoys playing with them. He would do well with a cat in the home seeing as he’s just a puppy and it would help if the cat is dog savvy. We do also recommend a slow, monitored introduction between them. We do require children to be age 6 and up and he needs a fenced yard to keep him safe when he’s outside playing. ALMOS is looking for an energetic family who can give him lots of walks and long hikes to help him burn off some of that puppy energy. He travels really well in a vehicle so will always be up for an adventure or two. He would love to have a fur sibling but he would do well as an only pet too provided his adopters don’t leave him alone for most of the day. He is learning his manners and will “sit” for his meals and take treats “gentle.”  Puppies are fun and cute but also require a lot of work, patience and dedication to training. We need his adopter to be in agreement to sign him up for obedience/puppy training in order to adopt him. His neuter is included in the adoption fee and will be performed at the Barrie SPCA and must be performed by the time he’s 9 months of age or 60lbs (whichever comes first) and we need his adopter to also be in agreement with this as per our Rescue requirement. The adopter can opt to get it done at their own vets office and we’ll reimburse what we would’ve paid at the SPCA but the timeframe must remain the same in order for us to do so.  If ALMOS sounds like the guy for you then please complete the adoption application to meet him.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 4, 2024, 5:20 am
