Haku means "pure" in Japanese! I was named for my pure, passionate and overwhelming love for everyone around me! I came to the rescue when my dad was stationed in Japan and heartbroken that he couldn't take me with him. I've missed him so much ever since! Everyday I do the things I did with him with other dogs so I can try and remember what it felt like to be with him! But it's just not the same. So, I'm hoping a new family can come scoop me up and show me what it feels like to be a part of a home and family again! I am good with other dogs, I love playing chase with them or tugging on chew toys. I'll need a happy and active home so that my life will be full of love and fun! I am a bit anxious and nervous around new people, and people in general! Slow introductions, a safe space I can retreat to like a crate and not forcing me into spaces with tons of people will help me be myself all the time! Meet the tranquil Misty! She is a beautiful tricolor Shepherd/Husky mix looking for her forever home. Found with her friend, Brock, at the local gas station- apparently they had been hanging around there for weeks :( Misty and Brock were so thankful the day they were saved, by the rescue CHIEF on the day they were found.... Hi, my name is Kiwi. I am from Minnesota. I am a fun, loving husky who enjoys people and dogs! My foster family does not have cats but they have a husky mix whom I LOVE, love, love to play with. In my foster home I live with adults, 2 kids (ages 11 & 9) and 1 dog. I am still a young pup so I am learning my manners and working on always going potty outside. My foster says I do a great job going bathroom outside as long as I am kept on my schedule. I am lucky that one of my foster adults work from home so I have a lot of playtime! I love squeaky toys and when the resident dog needs a break from playtime, I happily keep myself busy playing with toys and taking a nap! At night I sleep in my kennel and my foster mom says I am such a good girl! I am quiet all night long and have such a happy, wagging tail when it's time to get up! Thanks for reading this! The Vet team at the shelter I came from said I am a total Ham and LOVE attention. I have not been tested with cats, but love other dogs. Chloe is a wonderful and loving dog. She is perfect on a leash and knows basic commands. She gets along with all dogs she has encountered. *hair blowing in the wind (even though she's indoors)* *unexplained sparkles in the air* *faint heavenly music* Yes, she is me. Chloe. Now that you are blinded by my beauty, let me explain why I am the absolute best girl on the inside too and so deserving of your (and everyone's) undivided adoration. I'm loyal, smart as a whip, and FUN, just to name a few. Unfortunately, I didn't come from the most glamorous beginnings. I was an outdoor doggy with not much interaction from birth and my family also left me behind when they moved. Thus, I wasn't really brought up interacting with you humans or being touched/handled. I've had my quirks while adjusting to being a family dog and will definitely need someone patient and understanding with me. (If you get too touchy right away, I don't like that and will try to protect myself.) However, if you are slow and gain my trust I will HANG on your every move. I have adjusted very quickly in the past with proper introductions to people. Even still, I would probably do best in a home without young children. I'm a lady after all and need time to sniff you out before you get grabby. I am an active girl and love to feel the wind in my hair outdoors too. I run with the speed of light and have a prey drive to sniff out bugs, lizards and more. I also love to play tug of war and fetch with my foster mommy inside. I bounce, bounce, bounce all the time! I am great on leash so walks and hikes would be great for me. Getting my energy out will help me focus on training too. I am very smart and learn quickly, but tend to lose interest if I'm still chock full of go, go, go!! With all of this perfection, all of your pet needs should be fulfilled, right? RIGHT? I hope so because I would do great as an only pet in the home. I have been able to co-exist with dogs at the rescue but I am a bit of a diva in my foster home. I have a domineering personality sometimes and will even mark like a male when I come across another dog's scent in my house. How dare they??? Existing? HERE? (She is otherwise house trained.) Considering that you and I know each other a little better now, you may pet me. Yes, I am very soft, I know. Please keep in mind that I am a Chow/shepherd mix and have hair that will require brushing, maybe even the occasional spa treatment, Swedish massage, 24k gold facials...yeahhhhhhhhhh.... Sorry! I forgot you were here. In all seriousness, once I trust you, I will allow you to brush me out without much fuss. It doesn't need to be daily but I am a rough and tumble kinda gal and can use help keeping my locks flowing and free. I also shed so if I seem to be losing my girlish figure, it's probably just extra hair that needs to be brushed off. I hope you have a strong vacuum. ;) I could go on for days about myself, but I'll stop here. Don't wanna overwhelm you. My Faith in humanity has been restored over and over again...all in the last 3 years! You see, i was saved by a nice lady when I had puppies and was starving in a field. I love to play—whether it’s with people, dogs, or chasing after toys, I’m always ready for some action. After I’ve had my fun, I can relax on the floor or on my favorite sheep skin rug (dog beds are growing on me too). Because I can get a little mouthy and jumpy when I’m excited, it would be best if there weren’t little children in my forever home. Older kids are probably the best fit for me. I’m a huge fan of treats—seriously, I’ll do just about anything for one. I know how to "sit," "shake," and I can even "wait" for my food until you tell me to dig in. Chewing bones is another one of my favorite things, and I love playing rough-and-tumble with other dogs that can keep up with my energy. I’d be happiest in a home with another dog that’s around my size and loves to play as much as I do. I’m potty trained, so I only do my business outside. I am improving on my leash walking everyday so don’t need a fenced yard as long as you promise to get outside and help me get some exercise. I do love the freedom of a fenced yard to chase around and get the zoomies. I’m not a huge fan of the crate and will bark for a bit when you leave me in there, but I settle down and keep it clean while you’re away. At night, I don’t need a crate at all—I sleep peacefully on the floor in the bedroom. I have to admit, I’m not good with cats. I’ve got a bit of a prey drive, so I’ll chase them if I get the chance. If you're looking for a fun, energetic pup who loves people, plays hard, and is always up for a good treat, I’m your guy!
